Ash stepped out of the bathroom with hair still wet from the quick shower, crossed the hallway, and entered his room. The smell of singed corn tortillas filled the house as his grandpa finished cooking them lunch. The old man always left them on the comal a tad too long, but Ash had grown to like them that way as well.
Dropping the towel, Ash opened his dresser and grabbed clean shorts and underwear, quickly pulling both on. He used a foot to flick a t-shirt off the floor and caught it, bringing it to his nose. It smelled clean enough, so he pulled it over his head. He froze as the shirt covered his head, arms halfway through the sleeves and angled upward at an awkward angle.
A faint yellow glow came from the top left portion of Ash’s vision. As soon as he noticed the light it expanded and he jerked backward with a yelp, slamming into the open drawer of his dresser.
“Are you okay?” Grandpa Pine yelled.
“Yeah,” Ash responded. “Just saw a spider.” He hated spiders.
Ash could visualize his grandpa slowly shaking his head.
“Hurry up, food will be ready in a minute.”
“Be there in a sec,” Ash shouted as he finished pulling his shirt on.
The text covering Ash’s vision made it difficult to see and he eased himself to his bed. This must be the template thing Bruja had stuck in his head. She’d said it would take a little time to appear, and now it had started. Sitting, he studied the information.
Tabs ran across the top, and the one Ash currently viewed was labeled Profile. Two more tabs were visible: Class and Title.
Attributes
Constitution: 19
Strength: 17
Nimbleness: 20
Intelligence: 14
Wisdom: 18
Charisma: 12
When Ash focused on Constitution, a popup briefly materialized with the text.
Chakra Knight Title Bonus: +3
What was a Chakra Knight? Ash glanced at the rest of the text.
Armor Class
Physical: 25
Spiritual: 0
Resources
Health: 100%
Health Regeneration: 2% per second
Ever since Ash had Awakened his Root chakra, he’d healed incredibly fast. Not as fast as a superhero, but fast enough to see. A text box briefly popped into existence from the attention.
Root Chakra, Awakened – Level 0: +2% Health Regeneration
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
Ash raised his eyebrows in surprise. He hadn’t expected to see his chakras quantified like that.
Resistances followed a block of open space, and it made Ash think the Profile would display more types of info in the future. The Resistances had space between them as well, probably meaning they would expand with more detail at some point as well. Right now, only three had appeared.
Resistances
Physical: 15%
Mental: 0%
Spiritual: 0%
Without knowing what a normal person had for these values, Ash couldn’t gauge how he stacked up. He focused on the Title tab and the screen of text changed to reveal a single title.
Chakra Knight
Requirement: One Awakened Chakra, two or more Activated Chakras, and one Combat Skill over level 100.
Attribute Bonus: +3 Constitution, +3 Strength, +3 Nimbleness, +2 Intelligence, +2 Wisdom.
Ash wondered how the template knew the state of his chakras. He opened the Class tab.

“Food’s getting cold,” Grandpa Pine yelled.
Ash jerked in surprise. He’d focused so intently on all this new information he’d forgotten his surroundings. How did he get rid of the displays?
As soon as Ash had the thought, his vision cleared.
“Coming,” Ash responded.
Ash pushed himself off his bed, but didn’t take a step. He wanted to know what the other glowing section revealed. Focusing on the lower left part of his vision, he willed the display open.
Dense text and pictures filled Ash’s vision and he swayed on his feet.
The top of the display read: Spiritual.
Three human silhouettes filled the screen. The left one had eight labels down the center, each a different color. The colors followed the rainbow with red at the crotch and purple at the top of the head. Only the Divine charka that hovered over the head broke the pattern as it had a white color.
Some of the labels had circles next to them and Ash wondered why. He began at the bottom which had the most info around it.
The red text displayed Root, with a circle next to it. The circle contained eight smaller circles inside it, with one of them slightly shaded red. Ash’s focus generated a text box.
Chakra: Root
State: Awakened
Percent to Level 1: 11%
Ash shifted his attention to the Sacral chakra just above Root. It didn’t have a circle next to it. Orange text appeared.
Chakra: Sacral
State: Dormant
Percent to Activation: 88%
The next chakra, Solar Plexus, had a circle but no inner circles.
Chakra: Solar Plexus
State: Activated
Percent to Awakening: 79%
So if Ash understood this correctly, his Root was the only Awakened chakra which gave it a circle with eight smaller circles inside. The Activated chakras, Solar Plexus, Throat, and Third Eye all had empty circles. The remaining chakras, Sacral, Heart, Crown, and Divine were dormant which meant they didn’t have any circle at all.
Underneath the figure the following values were listed.
Chakra Alignment: 2%
Chakra Sifting Effectiveness: 1%
Aura Purity: 4%
Aura Density: 5%
Aura Power: 0%
Ash had no idea what any of that meant. He’d never heard the terms before.
“What are you doing?” Grandpa Pine called.
“Sorry,” Ash responded.
Ash shuffled forward as he quickly glanced at the other sections. The figure on the right was labeled Soul but not much else. The middle figure had a lot of information, much of which he understood because of Elder Phoenix’s recent explanations.
Twelve circles appeared in the shape of a clock. All of them had a 0% in them and Ash knew these must represent his Meridians. Under the Meridians was a large circle labeled Core, but the entire thing was greyed out. Two values were listed under the Core.
Core Density: N/A
Core Velocity: N/A
Ash entered the hall, still walking very slowly. Underneath the Core was another diagram labeled Pathways. Twelve small circles surrounded a larger circle labeled Center. A line ran from the Center to each small circle and back. Underneath the picture sat a few more values.
Scarring: 0%
Inflammation: 0%
Throughput: 100%
Ash left the hallway and Grandpa Pine frowned at him.
“What is wrong with you?”
Ash dismissed the display and sighed. “Do you have time for that answer?”
Grandpa pointed a scorched corn tortilla at Ash and smiled. “Good point.”
“Thanks for cooking,” Ash said as he sat.
Ash focused on his hunger to keep the revelations of the displays from his mind. Grandpa Pine was incredibly observant, especially when it came to Ash, and he didn’t want to telegraph how confused and excited the information in the template made him. He could think about all the values and what they meant later, when he was alone.
