Alex felt a tug through his being. The tips of his wings shifted from their dove white to a deep blood red. The student smiled as their deal was finally complete. He knew that Alex would grow in strength from even an almost insignificant deal, so he had decided to let it be a surpise.

Alex felt a crimson energy flow through his body more than he saw it, and he could tell it was his mana. He also sensed a mark on his right wing, about 2 centimeters wide in the shape of a purple eye. It wasn't too dissimilar to him, but what made it interesting was that he could sense a massive resevoire of a power that thrashed within, trying to shatter its seal. He manipulated his mana for a few minutes as the student silently waited, a smile on his face.

"What has happened to me? And will you let me out of this circle already?"

"Of course, nascent one. Here,"

The cylinder around Alex shattered in his mana senses, the pieces returned back into the ring of chalk from whence they came. He fluttered out of the ring, next to the student.

"Now, student what is your name?"

"My name? Call me Enfer. I'm a student from the university of Sentinelle, a magic school prioritizing summoning rituals and spells. We also look for powerful and nascent companions alike,"

"What is magic? I know of mana because of the status board, but I've only ever heard of magic from a shaman,"

"Magic? Magic is a way to use mana thats more efficient and precise than manipulation. It can be used to produce multiple effects with a single mana type in only small quantities,"

"OK, and how do I change like that again? I got stronger! I bet I could take out a little animal now!"

"Hmm? That was a mutation, not a full evolution. Basically, the more deals you make the more power you gain. Or you can just kill something sentient. If its evil, you will get an even bigger boost because you're an Angeli,"

"Alright! Then let's make a big deal!"

"Not yet. If you make too many deals your karmic threads will knot and merge too much, and there could be some brutal repercussions,"

Alex nodded before taking a small spot on Enfer's head, wings wrapped around the top of his head. He began to manipulate his mana in strings, creating webs in front of his pupil. The mana got denser and denser as he twisted it into knots and formed a rope of mana. His pupil dilated slightly, not because he tried to open his eye, but because he was shocked. Enfer was shocked with his capabilities to manipulate his mana so precisely, but was disappointed at how little mana he had.

"How do you use blood mana? You're a tier 0 Angeli, and blood is tier 3 minimum mana?"

"Hemophilia is my trait, so maybe I got an easier access,"

Alex had been working on a mana construct, slowly building an arm from his mana. He linked it to the back of his eye where his mana flowed from and it connected, forming a semi permanent limb.

Then he passed out, darkness filling his vision.
