“Agent Earl, we have a new assignment for you.”

“Go on.”

“We recently received new information on Team Galactic. If you take a look at that file, you will see what our informant has told us about the organization.”

“Who’s the informant?”

“We don’t know, we got the information from someone reliable, but the informant wanted to remain anonymous. The higher ups have deemed it as semi-credible and there are some things in Sinnoh that need to be taken care of.”

“What about Agent Looker? I doubt he’s gonna be happy about another agent butting into his case.”

“Agent Looker will have no choice in this matter. Besides, your objective will be securing two objects, the Adamant and Lustrous Orbs, not investigating Team Galactic.”

“And the Champion and Elite Four?”

“We have already contacted the Sinnoh Elite four and Champion and they will be cooperating with us on this. The details are in your file.”

“Okay. Anything else I need to know that’s not in the file?”

“Everything relevant to your mission is in the file, we will give you updates when necessary.”

“I see.”

“Good luck on your mission agent.”

----------------------------------------

Two days before we left, we ended up having to give the police some statements about the Team Galactic incident. They were understanding about us defending a colleague from attackers, but they did not like us starting a full on fight in the middle of the city when we could’ve just ran away too. Pretty reasonable request.

We were able to get off with a stern warning thanks to Professor Rowan. The Jubilife police didn’t have much of a leg to stand on considering how they had brushed off months of previous reports of researchers from or collaborating with our team being harassed and even beaten up by Team Galactic goons due to ‘not having any proof.’

I wonder how Interpol’s gonna handle this. After giving the police our statements, I wrote out a list of Team Galactic’s leaders and other important personnel, their goals, their base location, what they were after, basically anything I thought could be useful and gave it to Yamask to give to his contact in Interpol.

Hopefully that’ll be one less evil organization to worry about, that’s if Interpol and the Pokemon League are actually competent at their jobs in keeping the regions safe.

I kind of doubted that considering Teams Aqua and Magma were able to summon Kyogre and Groudon a while back, and from what I heard, Team Magma Admin Courtney was still on the run from the Hoenn Government after escaping from a transport vehicle and killing the guards.

Who the hell knows what else that crazy bitch would get up to?

“az! az! look at the window!” Winnie shouted and pointed out the airplane window, snapping me out of my thoughts as I turned to look where Winnie was pointing.

“isn’t it pretty? that’s snow right?”

“It sure is.” I answered, slightly squinting my eyes to filter out the bright reflective white that was coming off of the snow covered city below. “Yeah, that’s snow, it’s fun to play in.”

“i wonder what it tastes like.” Winnie said.

I chuckled and remarked, “You’re starting to sound like Kaiju.”

Winnie rolled his eyes and puts his paws and nose up against the window“hey, i’m just saying…it looks tasty. like ice cream.”

I rolled my eyes, “From personal experience, I can tell you that it tastes like water and dirt.”

Winnie stuck out a tongue, “we’ll see about that.”

Snowpoint city reminded me of one of old European cities you’d see in a movie. Medieval styled houses with steeply angled roofs and narrow streets winding in between them, all blanketed in a thick layer of snow. Snowpoint was on the smaller side for cities, but it was just as busy as Jubilife, the locals and tourists didn’t see to mind the harsh, cold weather and were all walking about in thick winter wear.

Well, obviously the locals would be used to the temperature. Snowpoint was snowy and cold for three fourths of the year, and had a brief spring that changed right into fall for the remaining third.

We weren’t going to be visiting Snowpoint city though, our destination was a ranger outpost near the mountain range that Alabaster Mountain was part of.

“Why take the plane if we have teleportation specialists with us?” I had asked before we left. Celia said it was because the twins had never been to Snowpoint before.

The twins had also enthusiastically explained to me in detail all the things that could go wrong in a long distance teleport, especially to places they’d never been to before.

Psychics who wanted to teleport to a place they couldn’t see usually had to work in pairs or more. One Psychic would solely focus on the teleportation aspect, the other would use clairvoyance to look into places they’d been before and make sure the landing area was safe, then guide the teleportation to said location.

Zoe was quite eager to tell me all the horror stories of psychics who had disregarded such safety measures, and she described scenes of people and Pokemon who had teleported into objects or other living beings. I didn’t even want to imagine how gruesome that would be, obviously no one in those types of situations survived.

Chloe then explains to me the second reason why they teleported in pairs, sharing the teleportation power expenditure between multiple psychics would help prevent cases of psychics not having enough power and teleporting parts of people over, leaving the rest of the body behind.

Reason number three for sharing the burden was to preventing psychics from straining their brains too much and giving themselves a brain bleed, or at the worst, making their own head explode. Basically, it was a wonderful way to kill oneself.

I was second guessing my thoughts on getting a psychic type to teleport me places, and the twins assured me that short distance jumps were a lot safer. That’s part of the reason why they were able to regularly teleport the researchers to and from Sandgem and Jubilife.

I asked how they’d teleport the entire group away from danger, and they told me that they each had an entire team of psychics. With just the humans and one or two other Pokemon out, they’d only need a total of four of their Pokemon to help out.

“Is there a way to stop teleportation? I remember someone mentioned during a meeting that we weren’t able to teleport into Alabaster Mountain’s illusion dome, but we could teleport out. How does that work?”

Angela answered my questions. She explained that ghost and dark type energy had the ability to disturb psychic type energy. So they’d just have to disturb a psychic type’s formation of energy, though it was harder than it sounded. The dark or ghost type in question would have to know what they were doing and have an equal amount, or more power than the psychic type trying to teleport away.

She then glanced at her shadow were a red pair of eyes flinched and looked away. Gengar was still in the doghouse due to it letting Team Galactic escape cause it got too distracted with sucking Jupiter’s Skuntank dry of life energy.

It was the only Pokemon with us that day that had the power and skill to prevent a teleport and it had chosen torturing and killing an enemy Pokemon over capturing people who had tried to harm the person it was assigned to guard.

Angela had made Gengar come back to her team and assigned her Houndstone to guarding Justine instead.

As the plane passed a flock of bird Pokemon lead by a Staraptor, Ben pointed out Snowpoint Gym as we passed over it. The fire type specialist animatedly recalled his victorious battle with the old gym gym leader, Blanche.

The twins were quick to point out that his type advantage and the fact that his fire types almost set the gym on fire despite the psychic barrier around the battlefield.

Candice was due to take over this season, and the Sinnoh gym forums were excited to see what this new gym leader had in store. People were hoping that the gym challenge wasn’t anything like what Flannery tried to pull during her debut last season. She had decided using a complex system of wooden platforms on top of burning hot geyers as an elevator was a good idea, and tons of people got injured on the first day with burns and broken bones.

It was later replaced with a more reasonable raft and lazy river system that had water that was about the same temperature as a hot tub.

Snowpoint quickly disappeared from our window and was replaced with an endless green and white sea of snowy forests that got thicker, and thicker the further we flew from civilization.

Humans inhabited a much smaller area of the world than Pokemon did, partially cause there was a much smaller population compared to my old world, and partially because the wilds had difficulty levels turned up to hell mode.

Celia told me about her adventures into the deep wilds, and stories about her barely escaping a dragons den, a ghost infested swamp, almost getting mauled by a mama Ursaluna, constant attacks from Mightyena and Poochyena packs that wanted to eat her alive, the whole nine yards.

The ghost swamp adventure was back when she was much younger and more rash, and her inexperience and overconfidence led to her actually losing a two members of her team to the ghosts.

Nice to know that mother nature is as harsh here as it is back home.

The explorer then recalled the dragons den incident in Unova. She and a ranger friend were investigating a serious of deaths in northeast Unova when they wandered into a cave and and found the biggest motherfucking Hydreigon they’d ever seen.

They were able to get out only by the skin of their teeth and immediately reported the dragon’s territory to the Ranger Corps and the Pokemon League.

That sounds suspiciously familiar.

Lake Acuity eventually came into view, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The mountains surrounding it had that slight deep blue glimmer that only glacier ice had, and despite the temperature being cold enough to freeze water, the lake surface was untouched by ice and clear enough to be mistaken for a blue-tinged mirror.

The were slight ripples on the lakes surface from the Pokemon swimming underneath, and I could see tiny brown dots, probably Bibarel, dragging logs from the forest to a small river that fed into the lake.

Snowpoint Temple could be seen in the distance, its slightly deteriorated structure rested atop one of the mountains, facing west towards the city.

A shiver ran up my back as I glanced down at the lake and spotted a ripple in the air just above the water’s surface. There was a foreign presence in my mind, I felt memories flash by in my head as the mysterious force shuffled through them, kind of like how a historian would carefully flip pages of a precious old book.

Oh? A child not of this world? How exciting… Show me what you know.

There was static in my eyes and a loud ringing in my ears, I rapidly blinked and shook my head to get rid of the effect and the presence faded as we got further from the lake.

I felt my skull begin to pound from a headache and I rubbed the back of my head. Shit. What was that? The Lake Guardian? I forget which one is in Lake Acuity. Fuck you man, if you wanted info you can be more polite about it.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

I felt Winnie gently tap my lap, he was looking up at me in concern. I reassured him with a few head pats, “I’m good, but that Lake Guardian needs to take a chill pill.”

“Hey guys, we’re almost there!” Celia shouted to everyone in the plane from the front, “Look out the windows to your left, you see that mountain range in the distance? That’s where we’re going.”

A few members of the team shifted in their seats to look out the left window. Winnie and I looked out the window at a mountain range that we could barely see in the distance.

Squinting and wincing at the bright sunlight reflecting snow below, I realized that there was a slight waver in the air around one of the mountains. Kind of like heat wave shimmers. It was hard to notice, but impossible to ignore once I spotted it due to just how…uncanny of a feeling it gave me.

There was nothing visibly wrong about the mountains, but something just felt slightly off.

“You feel something kind wrong with the mountains?” I asked noone in particular.

Leo leaned over the seat behind me, “Yeah. That distortion around the mountain.”

Justine popped up from the seat in front like a Patrat and grinned, “It’s the illusion dome!”

The purple haired girl excitedly took out a walkie talkie/phone-like device with a long antennae and pointed it in the direction of the dome.

The device began to squeal and beep as Justine adjusted its dials and began to record data. I heard Kenta, who was sitting next to Justine, grunt as he was awoken by the device’s squealing and try to wave her away.

Justine high fived the dragon specialist’s hand and continued her scans.

*Ksshhk!* Ding-dong! “Hello passengers, this is your pilot speaking. The seat belt sign is now on, we will be landing shortly at the Iceland's Ranger Base Camp.”

----------------------------------------

There was a clatter of boots crunching and squeaking through snow as the team walked from the runway to the central building of the ranger station. The ranger base was collection of decently large but low buildings closely clustered together, the biggest of which contained an indoor battlefield.

The rangers gave us a warm greeting, and gave the team leaders a few files labeled stuff like, Weather Reports, Field Reports, and a few Pokeballs.

We had one final briefing in the common room where we reviewed our route, potential Pokemon encounters, the reports that the rangers provided us, emergency protocols, and that everyone had their required equipment.

Once that was done, Celia called Leo, Collin, Ben, and I over as everyone else left for dinner.

“I got your Pokeballs.” Celia said as she handed a dusk ball to Leo, a Pokeball to Lucario, and an ultra ball to Ben. Then she turned to me and gave me a Pokeball.

I awkwardly held the Pokeball in my hand and Winnie leaned forward from my shoulder to sniff it.

“Uhhh, what’s this again?” I asked.

“That’s Flint’s Infernape.” Celia nonchalantly answered as she busily collected files from the common room table and began to leave the room.

Oh yeah. Rowan told me before we left that I’d be receiving Flint’s Infernape. That Fire type elite four member Flint. An Infernape from the team of an Elite Four member.

Since I had extra Pokeball slots open, Celia had jumped on the opportunity to have extra Pokemon from our member’s teams registered to my free slots in order to circumvent the six active Pokemon per trainer law.

The law was pretty strict for trainers, no exceptions, not even for the Champion. Only civilians with a business license for that, or people who require assistance Pokemon for their special needs were allowed more than six. And I was pretty sure Rangers were given exceptions too due to something related to their job.

Speaking over her shoulder, Celia said, “Make sure to get acquainted with them, and that you know their movesets. They’ll be with their trainers most of the time, but they’ll be put with you so you can have a strong team in case things get dicey.”

After whispering something to it, Ben tossed his ultra ball at me and I almost dropped Infernape’s pokeball trying to catch it.

“Oop! Sorry!” Ben exclaimed, then he added, “And yeah, go get acquainted with our Pokemon. I’ll have to warn you, Ceruledge is a bit prickly towards strangers, but she’ll, warm up to you!”

Ben cackled at his lame fire type pun and patted me on the shoulder as he walked away, “Word of advice, her respect is earned through battle. And she likes spicy foods.”

Leo and Collin handed me the dusk ball and great ball as Leo spoke, “Yeah, go introduce yourself and you team to them. Just come to us if you have any problems. I already spoke to Absol about this arrangement. You’ll love him, he’s a teddy bear.”

Collin nodded, “Same with Lucario.”

“Alright. Thanks guys.” I said, semi-smiling as Leo and Collin followed Ben out, leaving me alone in the common room.

Someone shouted from the direction of the kitchen, “Dinner will be ready at six!” And a few people shouted back, “Okay!”

It was currently 2:47 PM, so we had a while. Might as well go scope out what these guys are like.

I got directions to the ranger station’s training area and trekked to the other side of the plot. The building was empty and dark, the lights turned on as it sensed movement.

I let out Sahara, Kaiju, and Glados first and told them about the new temporary members of the team before letting out the other three Pokemon. Sahara seemed pleased about having potential new sparring partners. Kaiju and Glados didn’t have any major reaction to the news.

“i wonder what they’ll look like.” Winnie remarked as I took out the four Pokeballs.

Rotom flew out of my pocket and buzzed happily, it was delighted to scan the newcomers, “Bzzt!”

Infernape, Absol, Lucario, and Ceruledge appeared in flashes of light and looked around at their new surroundings as the Pokedex scanning jingle sounded out.

“Infernape, the flame Pokemon. It uses a special kind of martial arts involving all its limbs. Its fire never goes out. Its crown of fire is indicative of its fiery nature. It is beaten by none in terms of quickness.”

“Absol, the disaster Pokemon. It lives in a harsh, rugged mountain environment and very very rarely ventures down from the mountains. This Pokemon has the ability to foretell the coming of natural disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger. As a result, it was mistaken as a doom bringer.”

“Lucario, the aura Pokemon. This Pokemon has the ability to sense the auras of all things. A well-trained one can use its aura to identify and take in the feelings of creatures over half a mile away. It concentrates its mental energy and fires off waves of aura, which can crush boulders of large size to dust.”

“Ceruledge, the fire blades Pokemon. An old set of armor steeped in grudges called the Malicious Armor caused this Pokémon’s evolution. The fiery blades on its arms burn fiercely with the lingering resentment of a sword wielder who fell before accomplishing their goal.”

“Hmmph, does he really expect me to listen to a pipsqueak?” Ceruledge muttered just loud enough for me to hear.

I just raised an eyebrow, giving the fire ghost the stink eye, and pulling Kaiju back from trying to use anyone as his new chew toy before turning my attention to the others.

“Hey guys, I’m Azalea, I’ll be in your care for the duration of the expedition.”

I then gestured to my own team members, “The Garchomp is Sahara, Kaiju is the Deino, The Porgyon-Z is Glados, and–”

“i’m winnie!” Winnie finished for me, jumping off of my shoulder and then running up Sahara to use her as a podium.

“and az is not a pipsqueak.” “Deino!”

Infernape gave us a sly grin as it took a good look at who it would be working with and commented, “Infernape, fern infernape fernape.”

The fire monkey than pointed at me and chuckled, “Infernape nape.”

Twitching his ears, Winnie tilted his head and looked between me and Infernape, “What’s a…Dedenne?

Did Infernape just call me a Dedenne?

Lucario sighed and shook its head at Infernape and Ceruledge before turning to me and my team and giving us a respectful nod, “Lucario, rio lucario luc.”

Absol followed suit with Lucario and gave a head nod as well, “Absol.”

The dark type’s tail twitch as its horn slightly vibrated, then Absol dived at me, pulling me down by the back of my hoodie and narrowly dodging a burst of fire from Ceruledge.

My team really didn’t like that. Sahara stomped forward, towering over the fire blade Pokemon and snarling, giving Ceruledge the good ol’ desert glare. Glados beeped furiously and floated over to me, keeping an eye on its perceived threat as it pointed a laser at fire ghost with Lock-On. Kaiju toddled over to me and licked my hand to make sure I was alright, or perhaps to see how burnt I was.

Infernape hopped back a few paces, giving a short hoot and grinning with wild excitement at the unfolding drama.

“what was that for punk?!” Winnie yelled at the fire blade Pokemon.

Lucario quickly got in between the Sahara and Ceruledge, putting a paw on each of their chests to push them away from each other, “Lu lucario lu rio!” The aura Pokemon growled at them both as Absol helped me up.

“Thanks Absol.”

Ceruledge simply raised a blade, pointing it at Lucario’s throat in a challenging gesture, “I shall not parlay with weaklings.”

Lucario visibly had to ground itself and push back on Sahara’s chest as the landshark stepped forward with a challenging snarl.

I ran forward, waving my hands and pulling back on Sahara’s unbudging arm, “Hey, hey! Guys! Take a chill pill! Seriously.”

I then walked over to the fire blade Pokemon, “Ceruledge, attacking me like that isn’t acceptable.”

Ceruledge scoffed, “That wasn’t an attack pipsqueak, you’d be burnt to a crisp–”

I put up a hand and interrupted, “I know is wasn’t a actual ‘attack’ for you, but it doesn’t matter whether you meant to harm me or not. If you want a battle, just challenge me normally, you don’t have to instigate one like that.”

Ceruledge gave me a battle crazy grin and her eyes blazed with fire, “Ehehehehehe.” The fire-ghost cackled, “Alright then, I challenge you to a battle, pipsqueak. Choose your champion.”

Then it strode over to the other side of the battlefield and turned back around with a flourish of fire from its arm blades.

Bruh. Ben, why did you have to give me a massive battle junkie? She’s like Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach…

I sighed. Great. Then looked at my team, ‘chose your champion’ huh?

Sahara looked ready to throw hands and growled in anticipation, I put up a hand, “Next time Sahara. I want you to save your energy for tomorrow. Glados, you’re up.”

I wanted to end this battle asap, plus this would be a good chance to use what Glados had been practicing with the twins and their psychic types.

Sahara looked disappointed and huffed. She picked Kaiju up by the scruff and walked over to join Infernape at the side of the field where the fire monkey was lounging on its side. Winnie jumped off of Sahara and onto my shoulder before whispering in my ear, “you sure about choosing glados? Sahara is stronger.”

I tilted my head over to him and whispered back, “Don’t worry, I have a plan.” I don’t need to win, I just need to prove to Ceruledge that I’m worth working with. Though winning would be a nice addition.

After a short conversation, Absol and Lucario nodded to each other, and Lucario walked over to join the other Pokemon on the sidelines.

Absol turned to me, “Absol sol absol.”

Winnie translated, “He says that he’ll be staying near you in case of any stray attacks, as there are no psychic barriers here.”

I nodded, “Alright, thanks again.”

“I see you have chosen a champion!” Ceruledge shouted over to us, “I will give you the first move, pipsqueak.”

I shrugged, “Okay. You ready Glados?”

The AI beeped affirmatively and spun its head and body in opposite directions.

I nodded, “Good. Conversion to Psychic. Then Gravity. Quarter field, max force.”

The area around Ceruledge cracked and groaned as gravity instantly intensified. Caught by surprised, the blade ghost grunted as she was forced down to one knee, she dug her blades into the ground as she struggled to stay up.

Doesn’t matter whether you’re a ghost or not, gravity affects everyone. Back during the week long training, I had quickly figured out that Gravity was more effective if it was concentrated on one small area, and that it was better for trapping ghost and dark types than the move Psychic because we weren’t directly using the move on them.

Ceruledge grinned and began to sink into the ground through her own shadow. Trying to use Phantom Force to escape? Not on my watch.

“Put another Gravity field from below and some on the side.” I added.

Glados hummed as it used Gravity again. Ceruledge groaned as she was forced up out of the ground and trapped between multiple fields of gravity bearing down upon her. The blade ghost was suspended midair from the push of the gravity fields and unable to move any further.

“she’s not getting out now!” Winnie cheered, hopping down onto Absol’s back with his tail wagging in excitement. “go get em glados!”

The fire blade Pokemon spat on the ground, then her eyes glowed a violent blue.

“Get ready, it’s planning something. Magnet Rise, get higher.” I warned Glados, who obeyed and floated higher to make itself harder to target from Ceruledge’s position.

Then a massive pillar of blue fire swirled to life right beneath Glados. The AI Pokemon spun and zipped out of the way with Agility just in time to dodge the trap. I raised a hand to shield my face and Winnie ducked behind my head to avoid the heat, Absol stepped forward and used Protect to mitigate the heat.

As Fire Spin died down, I issued another string of orders “Conversion to Electric. Prep for Zap Cannon, then fire.”

Glados beeped affirmatively and zapped itself with a weak Discharge to convert to electric type. Strands of yellow and blue electricity began to crackle around the virtual Pokemon and it’s eyes glinted maliciously as it used Nasty Plot and Charge.

Still trapped in the Gravity field, Ceruledge’s eyes narrowed as she stared at the massive ball of electricity charging up.

“FIRING.” A quiet hum of electricity turned into a roar as Glados fired a beam of electricity at Ceruledge.

At the last moment, the blade ghost created multiple barriers in front of herself. Zap Cannon’s power weakened as it went though Light Screen and then collided with Protect with a loud BOOM.

There was an explosion of dust and static electricity, then a salvo Shadow Balls shot out from the smoke.

“Normal Conversion.” I commanded.

Glados whipped around and hit itself with a star from Swift and converted itself to a normal type just before the Shadow Balls hit and took no damage.

“Zan Cannon again, same prep.” Protect takes up a lot of energy, lets see how long Ceruledge can keep this up.

Glados repeated its previous actions in charging up Zap Cannon.

As soon as Glados fired its move off, a faint aura of psychic type energy wrapped around both Ceruledge and the AI pokemon. Suddenly, they swapped places.

Glados whirred in panic at is was suddenly trapped within its own Gravity field and facing down its own Zap Cannon. Ceruledge cackled as she neatly landed in front of me and watched as the Zap Cannon hit Glados, creating another explosion of dust and electricity.

I blinked and gaped in surprise as the dust cleared to reveal Glados sprawled out on the ground with its eyes spinning.

Winnie leaped onto my head and shouted, “how did that happen?!”

I rubbed my face and sighed as I replied, “Ally Switch. Well played.” I was wondering why Ceruledge didn’t try anything else, she was baiting us.

Absol followed behind me I went and used a revive and max potion on Glados, praising it for its battle. The virtual Pokemon flatly said something about battle calculations before it dissipated back into my watch.

The others who were watching came over. Sahara huffed something, probably about how she would’ve won. Lucario said something reassuring and Infernape said some stuff to Winnie.

“Not a bad strategy. It would’ve been a pain to get out of that Gravity field if I didn’t have any teleportation moves. You guys still have a long way to go.” Ceruledge said, head held high as she walked over and gave us another battle crazy grin, “Pleasure to be working with you.”

----------------------------------------

High above the ranger station, a women with slate colored hair, wearing a long black trenchcoat and black tinted goggles looked out of the front airship windows down at her targets.

The automatic door behind her whirred as a man in a black militaristic uniform walked into the command area and saluted.

“Speak.” Hunter J commanded, still looking out the window.

“We couldn’t find the engine issue ma’am. Everything is working perfectly, this isn’t a mechanical or software issue.”

“Hmph. I knew it.” Hunter J muttered to herself. Her sources had informed her about the area the expedition had coined, ‘the illusion dome.’ Believed to be created by the powers a Hisuan Zoroark. Previous attempts to fly aircrafts in had all resulted in unexplainable mechanical or software failures, and her ship was no exception from that.

The mercenary wasn’t going to risk losing her ship, but she still needed the location of the sanctuary in Alabaster mountain in order to capture the rare Pokemon her cilent had promised would be in it before the mountain was destroyed for mining.

“How are we going to proceed? We won’t be able to follow them unless it’s on foot. Or we could get some snow mobiles.” The underling asked with a slight hint of nervousness.

There was a moment of silence before his boss replied, “No need to. We’ll wait. They’ll be worn out once they come back. It will be the perfect time to strike and take their Pokemon. Make sure the others know that we need at least one of them alive to lead us back.”

“Roger that ma’am.”

Quite a few members of the party had rare and in demand Pokemon, Hunter J was already calculating in her head how much she could sell those Pokemon for.

The underling turned to leave and then turned back around as he remembered something. “Oh, yeah, our big client just ordered another batch of Bronzor. The Bronzong we supplied them got burnt out and died from its last teleportation.”

“Then send some men out to capture another batch from Lake Acuity.” Hunter J replied, dismissively waving a hand, “The same commander also lost the Skuntank we sold them, did they order another?”

The underling nodded, “Yes ma’am, they wanted the best ones we can find for the commander, as usual. And some more for their grunts.”

Hunter J nodded, “Good.”

One of the underlings at the command station turned in his seat, “Heh. What a waste, ain’t it? That Bronzong was a pretty high quality product and they wasted it only after a few teleports.”

The underling near the door grinned and shook his head, “They have no idea how to make the product last longer, eh? I heard they were beaten by a bunch of brats too.”

“Well all the better for us.” Hunter J said with a smile as cold as the Icelands in the depths of winter, “The more product that expires, the more they’ll buy from us. I’d call it a win-win.”

The mercenary’s underlings unconsciously shuddered at their bosses expression as she spoke again, “That reminds me, the expedition party has some rare human psychics and a girl who can speak to ghosts. I want them alive.” Hunter J said, making sure to emphasize the word ‘alive.’

Humans with abilities as unique as that would sell for more than a rare Pokemon if she played her cards right, she already had a few buyers in mind.
