5: Conversations

“And then she kissed me! And it was just… wow, I mean, it was amazing, but… what does it mean? Like, are we dating now, or was that just her being affectionate? ‘Cuz it’s been a week and she hasn’t kissed me again, but it does feel like we’ve grown even closer. At the same time though, I don’t want to just assume we’re dating now, y’know?” Roxy sighed and sat up, looking towards her friend. “Am I being stupid about this?”

Artemis just stared back at her with the most exasperated look it was possible for her canine features to create before lowering her head back onto the ground and letting out a long sigh. Roxy fell back to lying down against Artemis’ huge body with a sigh of her own.

“You’re right, you’re right. I just need to talk to her.” Roxy said, running her hands through her hair. “Man, what a weird week it’s been. First it was the kiss, and then there’s that new guy, Ben or Blaine or something. He keeps acting like, weirdly friendly with me, but I’ve noticed it’s specifically when Sam’s not around. When she’s there he barely even gives me a passing glance! It’s almost like he’s scared of her or something. Probably a good thing too! On Friday, he even tried to put his arm around my shoulders!”

Artemis almost immediately started growling, the deep sound reverberating through the girl’s ribcage. Roxy just laughed and stroked the wolf’s mane placatingly. “Don’t worry Arty, I shut that shit down real quick.”

It took a few more seconds for Artemis’ growling to cease. She huffed before turning her head to face her human companion. Roxy slipped a hand into the pocket of her denim overalls and pulled out a treat.

The wolf’s face immediately lit up, and Roxy chucked the treat towards her huge, already drooling maw. Artemis immediately snapped her head up and stole the treat right out of the air, happily scarfing it down in less than a second. The raven-haired girl couldn’t help but giggle at the display. She laid back down, snuggling into the warm fur a little bit more, savouring the familiar smell of pine shared by both her favourite wolf and her favourite human.

Admittedly, it was a little strange that the two of them smelled pretty much exactly the same, but she just passed it off as being due to the fact that Artemis lived in the woods. Her actual scent would likely be much more... dog-like after a bath and some time away from the forest. The fact that Sam smelled like pine as well was probably just due to the shampoo she used or something. Probably.

Even with all the weird, supernatural seeming shit surrounding Sam, it was a bit too far-fetched for Roxy to assume that her maybe-girlfriend could turn into a giant dog just because they smelled the same. It definitely wasn’t just because she didn’t want to admit to herself that she’d just been venting about Sam… to Sam.

Roxy’s train of thought was interrupted by the sounds of quiet footsteps and a snapping twig emanating from the trees bordering their clearing. The girl shot up and quickly looked around, but Artemis barely twitched her ears in the direction of the sound, apparently too comfortable in her current position to care too much about the likely minimal threat whoever was out there posed.

Roxy laid back down warily, still slightly worried about who could be out there, but confident that Artemis would keep her safe. She was expecting some sort of hunter, or perhaps some teenager on a hike, or god forbid, Kimberly again. What she didn’t expect was for one of her school friends to come stumbling through the trees, hand in hand with another boy, both so enamoured with each other that they didn’t even realise what they’d stumbled into.

“Ross?”

His head spun around at an impressive speed as he jumped about 3 feet into the air, tearing his hand from the other boy’s like he’d been burnt.

“Roxy?! Wh-what are you…” His words quickly faltered as he noticed the giant golden wolf she was lying against. Artemis herself just watched the interaction with mild curiosity.

Roxy made a show of stretching casually before pushing herself into an upright position. Her eyes flitted between the two boys and she vaguely recognised the other one from the school football team. A smirk spread across her face as she recognised the chance to get revenge for all the teasing she’d endured over the past few weeks.

“So, a secret paramour, eh? You guys out here to study anatomy?” She teased with a grin. Ross attempted to cover up his blush with a scowl, but the other boy was too terrified by Artemis’ presence to even process the jab. He shuffled back over to Ross and gripped his arm tightly, bringing the brown-haired boy’s attention back to the elephant in the room. Or, in this case, the massive wolf in the clearing.

“Roxy, why are you sitting next to a giant wolf?” Ross spoke very slowly, as though he was trying not to startle Artemis, who currently seemed like she couldn’t care less about proceedings.

“Oh! Yeah, uh.. This is Artemis!” The girl said, standing up and making a show of presenting the wolf, flaring her hands dramatically. “Don’t worry, she’s harmless! Well, at least to me. She attacked Kimberly once, though she didn’t really hurt her so much as threaten her. It really doesn't look like she’s bothered by your presence, so you should be fine.”

Right on cue, Artemis stood up and, after a big stretch, lazily walked over to the boys, sniffing them curiously. She didn’t tower over them quite as much as she did Roxy, but her sheer size was still very much apparent as football-boy quickly hid behind Ross, not eager to get anywhere near the beast. Apparently having had her fill of the new scents, Artemis plodded back to Roxy before flopping onto her back, revealing the shock of white fur on her stomach.

“Aww, does someone want scratches?” Roxy asked with a gleeful smile on her face. The wolf huffed in response and Roxy quickly obliged, kneeling down and smothering Artemis with affectionate coos and “who’s a good girl”s as she scratched her fluffy underside. It didn’t take long for her leg to start kicking out, once again bringing Roxy’s mind back to Sam, who had done the same thing on the night of their kiss. She smiled softly as a light blush covered her cheeks at the memory.

Ross coughed. “Uh.. Right… So, um… how exactly did this-” He gestured with his hands. “Happen?”

Roxy looked back at him, still scratching. “I saved her from a bear trap! I’m not sure who would have set one, considering bears aren’t even really an issue here.” She frowned. “But either way, after that I just kept running into her out here. She’s the reason Kimberly didn’t rough me up any more than she already had!”

“Uh huh… Right, well that’s good, I guess. When exactly was this?”

“It was…” Roxy thought about it for a second before freezing.

Two days before Sam first came up to me and hugged me for seemingly no reason… Ok, these coincidences seriously need to stop.

“It was a few days before Sam came around, I think.” She decided. Ross actually relaxed a little bit, although his ‘friend’ was still very clearly terrified.

“Hah, funny. You managed to make friends with two weirdly tall hyperactive blonde things in the span of a week,” he said, putting his hands on his hips. Artemis rolled out of the scratches and stood up, yawning slightly. She walked around the raven-haired girl in a tight circle, brushing against her before sitting down again, placing her head on top of Roxy’s. “Hah! She even acts like her!”

Okay, all of this was getting to be a bit much. Between all of the weird coincidences and the whole potential relationship thing with Sam, all Roxy really wanted to do right now was find a quiet, dark hole to contemplate in for a week.

“Yes, yes, the humour of the situation isn’t lost on me.” She said, barely managing to keep the tension out of her voice. “ It looks like Arty wants to head out now, so we’ll leave you two to your hanky-panky or whatever it is you’re doing out here. Seeya.”

She turned and walked off with Artemis before Ross could reply, savouring the sounds of embarrassed sputtering behind her. First step? Have a proper talk with Sam about their relationship. Easy, right?

As it turned out, not so easy, in fact. Obviously this was not a conversation one wanted to have over text, and as such, Roxy had to wait until she could see Sam in person again. The only problem with that being, she had pretty much all but disappeared.

A quick investigation (in reality a quick text to Ava) concluded that Sam had forgotten to hand in so much homework that she was stuck in lunchtime and after-school detention until she could get it all done. Roxy was stuck, with no way to see Sam in person until at least next weekend. Great. And to make matters worse, Roxy had just gotten assigned a group assignment with none other than the ever-persistent Blaine. Just her luck.

The general lack of Sam’s presence that week had meant that Blaine had stepped up his ‘friendliness’ to a whole new level, unsubtly flirting with Roxy every chance he got. While Sam’s usual brand of unsubtle flirting was mostly honest and innocent and left Roxy feeling full of adoration, Blaine’s had an almost slimy texture to it. The nicer, naive part of her wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. She didn’t know him that well, maybe that was just how he interacted with people? If she was being honest with herself, there wasn’t a chance in hell of that, if the way that he very obviously eyed her up and down when he thought she wasn’t looking was any indicator.

No, it was very clear what Blaine wanted from her, and so long as Sam was still locked away in detention, there was pretty much nothing she could do but try to ignore the gross feeling of being treated like a piece of meat and tell him off when he inevitably overstepped. She knew that if she told him up-front to back off, he would no doubt chuck a hissy fit and honestly, that was not a confrontation she wanted to deal with right now. Telling him she was already with Sam was out of the picture, too, at least until she could get confirmation on that front.

She could always tell him she was only really interested in girls, of course, but from what she could already gather of his personality, that probably only had about a 50/50 chance of actually working. Oh well, couldn’t hurt to try, could it?

It was late on a Thursday afternoon, a couple hours past the end of the school day. The old, busted-up AC of the school library was doing little to stave off the unseasonable April heat that had accumulated in the building. Roxy was sitting down at a table, focusing on her laptop and trying desperately to ignore the feeling of Blaine watching her from his spot across the table. She just wanted to get her part of this assignment done as quickly as possible so that she could go back to not having to actively spend time with the guy, and thankfully, she was just about finished.

“...And done!” She said cheerfully as she put the finishing touches on her part of the work. Now all that was left to do was pray that Blaine actually did his share. Hopefully, now that Roxy didn’t have to hang around, he wouldn’t be distracted by her and would actually get on with it.

“Awesome! Great job, little bird. Mind if I check over your work?” He was already standing before Roxy could even reply, too busy internally cringing at the lazy and not-at-all demeaning nickname he’d given her, despite her numerous protests. He walked over to her and put a very possessive hand on her shoulder as he looked through what she’d done. Alright, enough was enough. Time to put her foot down.

“Alright dude, you seriously gotta stop with the touching. A girl needs her personal space, y’know?” Roxy stood up as she spoke, carefully yet firmly grabbing his hand and removing it from her person. Blaine was silent for a moment as he processed her words, but the way his face flashed with furious anger for a split second before he could cover it up had sent a small spike of fear through her heart.

Blaine was quick to compose himself. “Of course! My apologies. I’m just a very physical person, you get me? Sometimes I simply forget other people's boundaries.” He shot her a charismatic smile in a clear attempt to break the tension in the air and the slight sickness in her stomach. It didn’t work.

“Riiight. Well, I’m just gonna put this out there in case it needs to be heard. I like girls. Not into guys. At all.”

Roxy eyed his face closely, but whatever reaction she’d been expecting, it certainly hadn’t been confusion. The boy looked at her, eyebrows furrowed in perplexed uncertainty, before looking away, bringing his hand to his chin in an almost laughably stereotypical ‘thinking’ pose. The raven-haired girl just sighed. She’d just spent most of her afternoon doing schoolwork, she really didn’t have the mental energy for this.

Blaine finally looked back to her, seeming like he was about to speak, but the sound of the door opening (seriously, you’d think a library of all places would invest in some squeak-free hinges) stopped him in his tracks.

Sam walked through the door holding a book, face blank, earphones in and not a care in the world. She managed to reach the book return slot before she realised that she wasn’t alone. She glanced at Roxy before locking eyes with Blaine, and her calm expression was quickly marred with a scowl. Roxy looked back to the boy next to her, and realised that he was glaring back at Sam defiantly. These two definitely had some sort of history.

The blonde walked up, maintaining intense eye contact with a very disgruntled Blaine the whole way. She slipped her arm over Roxy’s shoulders and the shorter girl unconsciously found herself leaning into the warm safety of Sam’s touch.

“This guy bothering you, Rox?” She asked, voice even and controlled.

Roxy eyed him for a long moment before replying. “No. I think he gets the hint.”

Sam shrugged. “Hmm. Well, either way, I need to have a chat with him, so would you mind waiting outside for a sec? I won’t be long.” She finally broke her intense eye contact with Blaine, turning to Roxy and giving her a warm smile.

“Alrighty. I needed to talk with you too, actually, so don’t take too long.”

“You got it.”

They both watched the door slowly squeak closed. The room was filled with a tense silence as the two werewolves stared each other down.

“I told you to stay away from her,” Sam said, very flatly.

“I had no choice, we had a group assignment together.” Blaine shot back, not bothering to hide the disdain in his voice.

“I don’t care. You’ve been bothering her outside of class as well. I told you to stay away from her.” Her stern tone reverberated off the walls of the otherwise empty library, demanding respect from the very books on the shelves.

He scoffed. “She’s not yours. I can pursue whoever the hell I want.”

“Keep telling yourself that and see what happens.”

Silence once again reigned supreme over the room. Blaine’s eyes flashed brighter green and Sam responded in kind, red seeping into her irises.

Blaine clenched his fists. Sam held her breath. A single eye twitch was all the warning she had before a right hook moving at the speed of a professional fastball struck her across the jaw. She stumbled backwards, grunting in pain. If she hadn’t had her wolf out, that hit likely would have fractured her jawbone. A warm, viscous liquid dripped down her chin accompanied with a stinging pain and she belatedly realised that it still managed to split her lip.

Now was no time to be deliberating over injuries. She looked up just in time to see Blaine, growling loudly and coming in for another swing. Sam deftly dodged to the right, grabbing his arm as it flew past and using it to pull him into a brutal knee to the stomach, lifting him off the ground.

He fell to his knees with a wheeze, desperately trying to catch his breath. Sam allowed him no such luxury, planting her foot in his heaving chest, throwing him onto his back. The back of his head made contact with the library's carpeted floor with a dull thud and the blonde was on top of him in an instant. She straddled his chest, repaying his right hook with one of her own as her other hand curled around his neck.

A tooth flew out of his mouth as her fist connected, skipping off into the far corners of the otherwise silent library. She grabbed a fistful of his hair and roughly tugged his head up to face her.

“What part of STAY AWAY don’t you understand?!”

Sam could feel her canines sharpening and lengthening as she bared her teeth, itching to dig in for the kill. Spit was mixing with the blood dripping down her chin. A loud growl was emanating from her chest, but Blaine didn’t even flinch. It took a second for her to realise that he was unconscious and couldn’t even hear her.

Blaine’s head flopped limply down to the ground as she let go. She quickly stood up and brushed herself off. She experimentally prodded at her lip and winced at the sharp pain that sparked out from the wound. Welp, that sucked. She’d finally gotten all of her homework done and was hoping to hang out with Roxy tonight, but a busted lip was certainly gonna put a damper on things if all went well.

Ah well, nothing a good hour with the wolf out won’t fix. Probably better to avoid having red eyes out in public, so I’ll just wait till we get back to mine. Hopefully Roxy won’t notice, and either way, she’s seen it before and hasn’t brought it up so I’m sure it’ll be fine! Right?

The blonde wiped her face off on her sleeve, not caring that she was staining the white fabric crimson, and made her way to the door. She had a date, after all, and she wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Roxy stepped out the door and leaned against the adjacent wall, slotting her earphones in. She chucked on a random playlist and started scrolling mindlessly while she waited for Sam to finish up whatever business she had with Blaine. What the hell was going on between those two anyway? Between Sam’s straight up panic attack when he first showed up and Blaine completely avoiding Roxy any time Sam was around, it was obvious they had some kind of history. Maybe they knew each other or something? Whatever, just another small thing to add to the seemingly never-ending list of mysterious things about Sam.

Roxy continued her scrolling for about another minute before the door opened and Sam stepped out.

“Sam! Hey, can I- woah! What the heck happened?!”

Sam had a steadily darkening bruise adorning her left cheek and a cut on her lip that looked like it had only just stopped bleeding. Despite this, her expression portrayed nothing more than vaguely pissed off apathy.

“We had a talk. I don’t think he’ll bother you anymore,” Sam said matter-of-factly as she shrugged.

“Sam! You didn’t have to do that!” Roxy reprimanded sternly.

“Hey, he swung first, okay? Besides, he needs to get it through his head that you aren’t up for grabs.”

Roxy paused for a moment and her heart fluttered as she processed the blonde’s words. “N-not up for grabs…? Wait, you mean…?”

Sam sighed. “Yeeah… I probably should have been a bit more clear about this, b-but… I was kinda waiting for you to reciprocate on your own.” She took a deep breath in before taking one of Roxy’s hands. “So, in the spirit of complete transparency, because I know I'm kinda bad at it… Do you wanna go out with me?”

Roxy released a breath she hadn’t realised she’d been holding and surprised herself by laughing, causing Sam to cock her head to the side, a slightly confused expression on her face.

“Oh my god, I’m so dumb,” the raven-haired girl laughed. “I was totally overthinking this.”

“S-so… Is that a-”

“Yes! …yes, I’d love to go out with you, Sam.”

A wide smile broke out across the wild girl’s face, though it quickly turned into a wince as it stretched her split lip. She shut her eyes and let out a sigh as her thumb brushed softly along the back of Roxy’s hand.

“Man, that’s a relief. I would kiss you, but, uh… you know.” Sam looked away sheepishly. Roxy giggled.

“Hah, yeah. That’s okay, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of time.” The shorter girl smiled up at her new girlfriend. Sam’s blue eyes met her own and the blonde blushed.

“Heh, s-speaking of time, Carol and Tom are going out tonight, so Ava and I were gonna order pizza. D-did you wanna come over?”

Roxy didn’t even hesitate. “Sure! My dad doesn’t mind if I’m out late, so long as I let him know where I am, and my mom only really cares if she thinks it’s gonna affect her ‘reputation’ or whatever, so it should be fine.”

“Awesome! So, should we get going?” Sam asked excitedly, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she pumped her free hand. A groan of pain emanating from the library answered her question.

“Yep! We should definitely go!”

The girls once again found themselves in Sam’s basement. Just as before, Sam couldn’t decide what to watch, so Roxy took the opportunity to show her girlfriend (OH MY GOD SAM’S MY GIRLFRIEND NOW!!) one of her favourite shows. Just as Roxy had expected, Sam was quickly drawn in by the bright colours and quirky anthropomorphic frog people on the screen. The raven-haired girl smiled to herself, before resting her head on her partner’s shoulder, settling in for a comfortable night of bingeing.

She’d borrowed one of Sam’s shirts, as well as a pair of her sleep shorts. While the shirt would ordinarily be slightly form-fitting on Sam, it was far too big on Roxy’s much smaller frame, although the raven-haired girl didn’t mind. If anything, the size made it even comfier, as if the familiar scent of Sam wasn’t enough for that. The shorts had fit surprisingly well, only needing a slight bit of adjustment with the draw-strings.

Sam herself was wearing a slightly cropped tank top and her own pair of comfy sleep shorts. Roxy had to stop herself multiple times from openly drooling at Sam’s toned arms and shoulders, as well as the sliver of exposed midriff showing off an impressive set of abdominal muscles. It was probably revenge for the time they went to the mall, she supposed.

Forty five minutes and two episodes into the binge, Roxy shifted slightly, stealing a glance up at Sam. Peering up at the girl currently serving as her pillow, she noticed something odd.

“Hey Sam?” She asked.

“Hmm?” The blonde reluctantly tore her eyes from the screen to look at her girlfriend.

“Your eyes are red again.”

Sam froze. She took a good few seconds to reply.

“Oh, uhh, yeah. Th-that just sorta happens sometimes. Don’t really know why.” She laughed nervously, eyes darting around the room. “I-it should go away soon enough.”

Roxy raised an eyebrow and scooted over to lean against the arm of the chair, swinging her legs onto Sam’s lap as she did so.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You are a terrible liar.” Sam visibly paled and the shorter girl quickly smiled placatingly before the blonde could start freaking out. “It’s fine, you don’t have to tell me about it if you don’t want to. It’s none of my business anyways.”

Sam paused for a second before meeting Roxy’s gaze and giving her a small smile. She thoughtlessly placed her hand on the olive skin of Roxy’s lower thigh who then had to try very hard not to blush at the feeling of Sam’s surprisingly warm hand on her bare skin. She failed.

“Thanks, Rox. I’ll tell you eventually. I’m just… I’m just not there yet,” Sam admitted.

“Hey, it’s okay. I did actually have another question for you though. What’s up with you and Blaine? There’s clearly some sorta history there.”

Sam shifted around a little bit, staring at the ground. “I… I wouldn’t really call it history so much as just… a conflict of interest, I guess?”

Roxy frowned. “You had a panic attack when he first showed up though, like you already didn’t like him and were surprised he was there. I won’t press you if you don’t wanna tell me-”

“No, it’s fine. It’s just… complicated. I didn’t know him, but I could tell who he was, I guess. That’s the best I can really explain it.” She made eye contact once again, her oddly familiar red irises piercing into Roxy’s soul and making her subconsciously shiver. “Let me know if he comes near you again. He only wants one thing from you and despite the warning I gave him today, I doubt the creep will give up that easily.”

Roxy rolled her eyes fondly. “I’m sure I’ll be fine so long as I have my big, strong girlfriend there with me.”

Sam blushed and looked away sheepishly. “Heh. Girlfriend. I’m still getting used to that.”

Roxy sat up, bringing her face closer to the blonde’s. She raised her hand up and gently placed it on Sam’s cheek, guiding her gaze back, smiling as she leaned into the touch.

“Me too.” Roxy’s eyes flicked down and she brushed her thumb along the other girl’s bottom lip. “Huh, your lip’s already healed.” Sam shuddered.

She looked back up. Sam’s face was extraordinarily red, and she was very pointedly not meeting Roxy’s eyes. Instead, her eyes were trained just a little further down. Roxy was suddenly very aware of the hand that still remained on her thigh.

“Huh, funny that.”

Roxy moved in and Sam met her in the middle, bringing their lips together into a gentle yet eager kiss. Roxy brought her other hand up to cup Sam’s face and the blonde girl sighed against her lips. The hand on her thigh inched ever-so-slightly upwards, but it was enough to cause Roxy’s breath to hitch.

Sam pulled back. “Sorry, was that okay?”

Roxy just smiled back at her softly, sliding her left hand around the back of Sam’s neck while using the right to gently pluck the other girl’s hand off her thigh to place it on her waist.

“It was good, I just don’t think I’m quite ready to go that far just yet.”

Sam blanched, quickly looking between Roxy’s thigh and her face. “Oh my god I didn’t even realise I’m so sorry I-”

A finger against her lips silenced her stammering apologies. “It’s okay, hun. Did you wanna keep going?”

The taller girl just nodded eagerly. Roxy leaned back down against the couch, pulling Sam into another kiss, this one deeper than the last. They shifted around, lips remaining locked together as Sam found her place straddling Roxy’s hips.

Roxy’s hands brushed through thick white-blonde hair as their lips moved against each other. An odd sort of spark lit in the shorter girl’s abdomen, and she pushed up a little, kissing Sam more aggressively. Sam let out a little whimper and the spark became a flame.

After an intense minute, Roxy pulled back for air, taking in the flustered girl above her. The blonde’s cheeks were an adorable shade of pink that complimented her still-red irises perfectly and she was panting slightly.

“Keep going?” Sam sighed.

“Hell yes.” Roxy agreed, grabbing the collar of the other girl’s tank top and forcefully pulling her down. Sam let out a squeak as their faces clashed together, and the raven-haired girl kissed her feverishly. The feeling of turning the usually strong girl into putty was intoxicating and Roxy curiously slipped her tongue in to explore Sam’s mouth.

The taller girl let out a quiet moan and shifted against her hips slightly. Roxy tentatively probed her tongue along Sam’s teeth. The girl’s sharp canines made her heart flutter even more than it already was.

They melted into each other, hands eagerly exploring and lips moving against one another, sighing and sinking into their combined warmth. They were so engrossed with each other that neither girl heard the door open. A loud clearing of the throat startled them enough to break apart, but just barely. They whipped their heads around to find Ava, one hand on her hip, the other holding a phone, very obviously recording the scene in front of her.

“Now, I’m sure there’s a very straight explanation for this.”

While Roxy’s instinct was to try to scramble off the couch and grab the phone, the weight of the girl on top of her was making that impossible. Sam, for her part, seemed effectively frozen, face tomato red, staring at Ava like a deer caught in headlights. Her eyes must have returned to their usual hue at some point during the frantic makeout, as they were now an icy blue.

“...Uuhm.”

Ava laughed and put her phone away. “I’m kidding. Honestly it took you guys long enough. I’m just glad we don’t have to suffer through your endless pining anymore.” The two entangled girls just stared back at her and Ava sighed. “Anyway, I’m ordering the pizza now, any requests?”

Roxy and Sam shared a look before returning their gazes to the brunette.

“P-p-pepperoni…?” was all Sam could manage to get out.

“Y-yeah, th-that.” Roxy’s voice was barely more than a husky whisper.

Ava laughed. “Alrighty then, I’ll leave you to it. Have fun~” She sang as she hopped back up the stairs. The door shut with a bang, leaving the two lesbians in silence. Sam eventually snapped out of her frozen stupor and sighed, settling herself down and burying her face in Roxy’s chest.

“That was so embarrassing!” She suddenly cried out, startling Roxy, who then placed a placating hand on the back of Sam’s head.

“She was gonna find out sooner or later. Although we should probably tell the others before she can do anything with that video.”

Sam poked her head up. “What video?”

“Dude. She had her phone out. She was recording us.”

Sam’s face quickly returned to its previous shade of red. She quickly pushed herself off the couch and sprinted up the stairs with the speed and urgency only a disgruntled sister could have.

“AVAAAAA!!!”

Roxy just sighed and rested her head against the armrest. Her phone vibrated and she pulled it out, revealing one new message on her friend’s group chat.
