Old Place, New Find

Old Place, New Find

Roy Hicklee had been back in his hometown of Valdosta Georgia for a little over half a week. He had left Lithuania for a week for a visit to his friends and family. The time for his return was nearing, so he did what he was dying to do since before he left: revisit his old boycave, an abandoned house. Roy had not been inside or seen it since he was 17 years old. He thought today was as good of a time as any, as he had already hung around his family and friends for a few days, and was getting a little bored. Before he left his parent’s home, he grabbed a flashlight, as it could get a little dark in a house without power, even during the day. As it was pretty close by, he opted to walk instead of drive.

After Roy arrived, he did a quick walk around the property. The front and backyard was actually somewhat tame, not very pretty, but not overgrown and wild. He thought that this was pretty strange considering no one lived there, but reasoned that maybe someone tried to keep this place from looking like an eyesore. After he scanned the house, he headed inside. After stepping in, Roy calmed down a bit and sighed. After seeing the livingroom in the shape it was, he figured it was still abandoned. After an hour or 2 of looking around all of the other rooms, he headed down to the last room in the house: the basement.

This was one of the places in the house he had been in the least, since it was the most dank and ungainly room of the house. Roy was ready to head out of the basement as fast as he could so he could be in the other rooms he liked more. He flipped on his flashlight and headed down the stairs. Roy scanned his light quickly around the room. There was not much that caught the eye, in a good way anyway. Cobwebs, boxes filled with old damp books, miscellaneous items, the whole old basement works.

Then he turned his light to the bookshelf. The shelf itself was not much, but something slightly behind it shined and caught his eye. He thought to himself: ‘’What is that!?’’ Roy, curious, pushed the bookshelf out of the way. He shone his light on what was now the exposed curiosity. To him, it seemed like an entrance to under the basement. Roy bent over to check it out. He was right, there laid a trapdoor.
