Universe 2
“God do I have a headache” I said as I woke up.
As I opened my eyes I noticed something. I had successfully gone somewhere else, but that I had also brought along a companion. I frantically looked around, and found that I was in an abandoned warehouse. Good! At least I wasn't in public with a half nude teen girl. As I was counting my blessings she woke up, and started hitting me.
“Rapist! Kidnapper!! Pervert!!!” She said angrily as she escaped my grasp, and started looking for something to smash my brains in.
“Listen it's not like that! You're in a different dimension. I'm a traveler of worlds, and just used my only emergency transport. We're stuck here for two days until we go to the next Earth. Take a look outside! You'll see that we're on a different Earth.” I said as she finally found a weapon.
“Why should I listen to you? I don't even know you're name.” She said as she eyed me suspiciously.
“Well my name is James Lee Ramons, what is yours?” I asked.
“My name is Rachel, and that's all you need to know. Now that we have exchanged pleasantries I must now kill you.” She said as she raised the pipe above her head, and prepared to strike. Except that we heard a loud screeching coming from outside, and the something started banging on the outside of the warehouse.
“Well that doesn’t sound good. What do you say you just put your anger into trying to keep whatever it is from killing us?” I asked the black-haired beauty.
“Fine, but this isn’t over.” Rachel said as she took my jacket and put it on. She then started to walk over to the door the banging seemed to be coming from.
“Wait a second. Why don't we develop a plan before we get ourselves killed?” I asked her.
“The plan is that we go and kill whatever it is.” Rachel said calmly as she threw her pipe to me and found herself a new one.
We then proceeded to slam the door open, and see what the banging was. It turned out to be something that filled my heart with joy. It was a ZOMBIE! I knew that from the smell, and the fact that it had no arms. You don't know how happy this made me. Some may think that it's weird to love zombies, but it's the perfect opportunity to kill without consequences.

“YAY! I LOVE ZOMBIES!” I screamed with joy as I beat it to death...or super death I guess.
Rachel just watched me with a strange look on her face. Like a mix of confusion, and attraction. I guess that the women on her Earth liked strong, and fearless guys.
“You're insane, aren't you?” She asked me as I finished off the zombie.
“Insane? You don't have to be nice you know. Now either that was a zombie, or that was an armless hobo looking for food. Either way we should get outta here.” I said happily as I walked away from the scene of the crime.
With Morgan looking at me like I was insane, and a nagging feeling that I shouldn't have brought her along we started walking. After a few minutes of walking I found signs that the Apocalypse couldn't have been going on for more than a year. I also found a sign that told me where we were. We were in Salt Lake City, Utah of all places. Strange considering I was originally in the Roman Empire. Seems that I'm in the Colony's, and not in Rome it's safe to assume that I'm put in random places each time I cross the Dimensional Barrier. Well that's good to know.
“James, I see two of those zombie things 20 meters on the left and three 30 meters on the right.” Rachel said at the intersection.
“OK let's go with the left.” I said as we ran over to the two deadies.
I beat the closer one to super death, and let Rachel take care of the other one. And thus we continued for five and a half hours.
“I'm already tired of this Zombie Apocalypse. The TV shows were much more cool. All we do is sneak around and hit any that try to kill us. I'm tired and my arm is even more tired from carrying this damn pipe. Let's just find somewhere to shack up for the night and wait for a better world in a day and a half.” I told Rachel.
“You want to leave already? You were so excited a while ago. Well anyways you are right. It's best that we pick some place to hide, and wait it out. Maybe the next world will have food that hasn't gone bad.” Rachel said as we started to look around for a good place to camp.
We ended up deciding on a nice little convenience store near what used to be the 'hood’ as some would call it. I really liked it because of the iron bars covering the windows. Gotta love the anti-hoodlem convenience stores. It wasn't much, but at least it was safe...ish. Once we were sure that there wasn't anyone (or thing) here, we searched for supplies. Of course there was nothing.
“Everything's been picked clean. Guess we'll have to wait till the next world.” I said.
“Well at least we only have around a day and a half left.” Rachel said.
“Technically we have a day and and 8 hours left.” I said
“What the hell ever.” Rachel replied.
“Well since we have nothing to do, why don't you tell me about your world?” I asked her.
“Fine then, since we have nothing to do but wait, I'll tell ya. About ten years ago my world created self-replicating nanobots to work for us. We had them do everything from mining to medicine, but then one day a guy by the name of Stephen Raymond had the idea to use the nanobots to create pet animals. He apparently set the resource acquisition rate, and the scaling too high. At least that's what the news said before it went offline.” Rachel said as I stated at her.
“Well isn't that something. Guess my father is the Multiverse’s screw up.” I said with a sigh.
“Wait didn't you say your last name is Ramons, his last name was Raymond. Also you're not from my world so he can't be your father.” Rachel said.
“Actually my last name is Raymond, but I like Ramons better. Also it's true that I'm not from your world, but it is likely that it's parallel version of my father. He always did do stupid things like that. Well that was an interesting story, I'm now gonna take a nap. Wake me up in four hours for my watch.” I said as I got a bag of chips that still had air in it and put it under my head.
“How can you sleep now? We could be attacked any second by the zombies.” Rachel said.
“I'm more of the indoor type and I'm not used to all this exercise, so I'm super tired. Anyways goodnight, sleep tight, and don't let the zombies bite.” I said as I went to sleep.
“Seriously...Why did I have to be here with this idiot?” Rachel asked herself as she began to keep watch.
And so a day and 6 hours passed uneventfully. And at the appointed time I said the magic words, and we were transported to the next world. As I opened my eyes I saw an amazing sight. The ocean was standing before us.
“Thank you Multiverse God! We can finally have a break, and relax. I was getting tired of not having an AC, but at least we have a cool ocean!” I said as I took my lab coat and shirt off, and began swimming.
“Hey shouldn't we scout the place out first, and make sure it's safe?” Rachel asked.
“It's an island! What could be dangerous here? I doubt that there's a polar bear, or a smoke monster here. Come on in and enjoy the water!” I said.
I didn't know at the time but there was something even worse than a polar bear on this quaint little island...
