“Susan come on! You know how many years I've waited for this moment! We can't just stop when we've gotten this far!” I said as we walked back to the lab.
“I know that we can't just stop, but both you and I know that we can't rush this. We can always leave, and try again in the future.” Susan said angrily.
“You know that they are coming in a few hours to arrest us, and that we will be black-listed out of the scientific community. They say that our research is too dangerous, or they just laugh at us. We will never get another chance like this. Once the planets align tonight, there won't be another chance like this. It's now or never. Either you help me, or you get the hell out of my way.” I told Susan just as we arrived at the lab.
“James please try to reconsider. You don't need to die just to prove some stupid theory!” Susan screamed at me with tears in her eyes.
“If I can not complete my promise, then I don't deserve to live.” I said quietly, as I went inside my lab and locked the door.
After a few minutes, Susan stopped screaming and left. Once she was gone, I went to work. I went to my desk, and turned on my computer. After it warmed up I turned on all security measures. I turned on the laser systems, the anti-missile defense systems, and the communication jammers. Now that I was safe, I moved on to more important matters. I activated my recorder, and began to put my thoughts on it.
“Hello everyone! In preparation of my historic experiment, I have decided to record my final thoughts. I say final because I may die.For any future historians, I will tell you my situation as of now. It is the year 2137. My name is James Lee Ramons, and I am a scientist. My field of study was originally Genetics until my father disappeared during an accident at the old LHC. For those who don’t know, it was an ‘Atom Smasher’ built during the early 21st Century. Back then they would literally smash atoms together. Anyways he was a believer in the “Many Worlds” Theory. The theory states that for every choice made, a new universe is created for that decision. He believed that the key to accessing these dimensions was to create an artificial singularity using the LHC, and use a Grav-Electric Field Generator on the singularity. He thought that if he could somehow increase the gravity of the singularity to the point that even the singularity would collapse in on itself, that he could force open a path through the dimensional barrier. Sadly there was a horrible accident in which the containment field failed, and caused space/time itself to collapse across the whole of Europe. So because of that, my father was turned into a terrorist by the Media. When this happened, my mother made me promise to make his experiment succeed. So I have done my best to do my father proud. In just under two hours the planets of the solar system will come into alignment, and will distribute the gravity more evenly than when my father attempted it. If this doesn't work, then I will be either in prison or dead. So wish me luck I guess…” I said into the mic before turning it off.
“I just hope that I am doing the right thing here.” I said as I rubbed the bridge of my nose, and yawned.
-1 hour later-
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!
“Huh! Is my pizza here?” I mumble as my alarm wakes me up.
“Oh shit I better get ready!” I say as I jump up, and turn all the equipment on.
OK...Containment Field on...Particle Accelerator powered up...Grav-Electric Field Generator on stand-by...and delicious leftover pizza devoured…all that's left is to put on the old spacesuit that I stole from NASA, and wait.
*BAM BAM BAM*
“It would seem that time is up, it's now or never.” I said as I finished the last piece of pizza, and got the machines running.
I got the singularity in place, and activated the GEFG just as the Army broke through the defences. With that, I knew that I wouldn't have enough time to do as I had planned. So I shunted all available power into the GEFG. Luckily I'm a genius, and decided to tap directly into the Energy Net beforehand.
As soon as I finished that, I booked ass. I ran as fast as I could to the singularity containment room. Good thing I was booking ass, because I was being chased by about 20 guys with guns. I then turned the final corner leading to the singularity, and saw something that stopped me cold in my tracks.

“Hello there Mr. Ramons. I would recommend that you stop this foolish endeavor to kill yourself, and half the country.” Said one of the army guys who was holding a hostage at gunpoint.
“Please listen to them James. We don't have to die! Please!” Susan begged me.
“Well it seems that I have no choice.” I said as I reached for my insurance.
“Now this good sirs is a dead man’s switch.” I said as I pulled it out, and showed it around.
“If I take my thumb off of this button, then this entire country will go up in flames. Now you will let her go, and let me go into the singularity. After I go in, you are free to turn it off and destroy all of my equipment. That is the deal, take it or leave it.” I said with a shit-eating smile on my face.
“... you're actually serious? Susan is this guy serious?” He asked Susan.
“After knowing him for 30-something years, I can honestly say that he will do it.” Susan said.
“Now that you believe that I will do it, let us have Susan tell you what will happen if my plan works.” I said as I jestered for Susan to speak.
“If it works, he will walk into the singularity and be transported to another parallel dimension. As long as the containment field holds, and he gets his personal shield to the same frequency, it will work or kill him.” Susan told the Army guy.
“As I understand it, the dead man’s switch will activate once someone takes their finger off the trigger, or once the switch is destroyed. Either way you destroy the country.” He said.
“Actually sir, the containment field will block the signal. As soon as I enter the containment field, the device will be useless. As soon as I'm in the singularity, you can have your spy turn off the equipment.” I said.
“I should have known. Well screw it, let's just get this over with.” Susan said as the Army Guy let her go.
“Yeah it was simple really. You always being reluctant to help me. You should've known how stubborn I am, sis.” I said as they made way for me.
“I knew that you were stubborn, but not stubborn enough to potentially kill billions of people. Susan said angrily.
“Well I am, so deal with it. How is the containment field?” I asked her once we reached the singularity.
“The field strength is at 93%, and the planets are beginning to align. It's now or never.” Susan said sadly.
“Yippy! This outta be interesting!” I said as I turned my personal field on.
“Sis I'm sorry that it had to be this way.” I said as I arrived in front of the singularity's containment field.
“Same here bro.” Susan said with tears forming in her eyes.
“Oh yeah! Almost forgot. Army dude, you really need to check things more carefully.” I said as I dropped the pen I was holding, stuck my tongue out, and walked backwards into the singularity.

“Wake up organism.” A mechanical voice said, raising me from my sleep.
“Hey where am I? I feel like my body has been put into a blender.” I said as I slowly sat up, and looked at my surroundings. I was surrounded by nothingness. It was just a completely white room.
“You are in a Pocket Dimension. You have found your way into a place for those that have discovered a way to travel the Multiverse. Your chosen method of travel appears to be jumping into artificial singularity's. Instead of the usual way of 'going with the flow’, you decided to punch your way through. Rather barbaric, yet it suits your needs.” The Voice said.
“That's cool...so may I ask the reason for your visit?” I asked the Voice.
“Technically you are visiting me. The reason that you are here is that once a being takes the first step of a Dimensional Traveler, I give them the ability to travel the Multiverse. You will be given the ability to travel to a random dimension every 2 days. If you miss this window, then you will have to wait another 2 days. To travel all you have to do is say 'I am ready for transport’ within ten minutes of the window. You also have one emergency transport. You only have the one. You are on your own after that. All I can give you is a word of advice. If there is someone you meet on your journey that wishes to come with you, you should let them join you. You will need all the help you can get. You will be teleported to a random dimension in 7 hours. Rest while you can.” The Voice said before shutting up.
“Well aren't you social? Guess I'll have a nap then.” I said to myself as I layed back down.
It seems that things are starting to get interesting...
