Tyler
Freya eyes my aura before snapping her fingers. The air around me freezes, and I am stuck in a box. "You are still naive in the ways of magic. But, to answer your question. I don't know how, after I saw you, the memories started to come back from my previous life."
I look at the box and sigh. Canceling the effect would take too much mana and alert our parents. "So I am the catalyst for her to remember. But that would imply that there is a reason she needs to remember." I start mumbling again.
"Would you stop spacing out? Gods, you are annoying to deal with." Freya says before letting the box fade.
Raising my head to look at her. "So what now? I can easily make it so that we never meet and live our usual lives."
Her jaw drops at that. "That would mean you would have to kill yourself." She looks at me in pity, "Why do you think I want this to end? For once, I found someone who can understand me. And isn't dying painful?"
I tap my leg with the dagger, "Well, if I reset it doesn't matter what you think. That was more me talking to myself. And dying hurts, but after the first few times, it got boring to use ordinary methods. My favorite so far is splitting a hydrogen atom half a mile away and watching the flames close in on myself." The amount of flames and death is the purest form of art.
"You are actually insane. How can you talk about this so nonchalantly? I mean, you have a favorite way to die. Besides, we are fated to meet. I can see your soul is linked to mine." She says before twirling her hair.
Soul linked? No, that shouldn't be possible. I got rid of anything extra. Channeling mana into my eyes, I look at my soul. At a first glance, everything looks to be fine. But, the deeper I go, I start to see what she is talking about. A portion of my soul is missing, and in its place is a tether. I follow the tether until I am staring at Freya's soul, a small fragment of mine implanted into hers.
"So she is connected, that would explain why she gets her memories back when she sees me." I ignore Freya and go into my own head. "Maybe a soul enchantment combined with a death array. No, that might kill me. I could just use a couple of wipes to learn how souls work. But who would I practice on?"
I get slapped in the face and fall towards the floor. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" Freya yells into my face. Her hand raised to hit me again.
"Is that a rhetorical question, or do you want an actual answer?" My face burns now. For a child, she can't hit hard.
She sighs and rubs her hand, "Your head is too hard."
I snort and stand back up, "I am sorry that my face hurt your hand. I will work on fixing that."
Her glare makes me pause for a moment, "I don't need your sarcasm, fucking asshole."
She has served her use. I walk past her and head towards my mother. This time I get a good look at the house. The second floor has three rooms, one of which is mine, and a large living room. "Why does every house have so many living rooms?"
I go down the stairs and enter the downstairs living room. My mother berates my father while Oliva watches with a smirk on her face.
Freya tugs on my shirt, "Your father still has remnants of mind magic on him."
Does he? I thought I got rid of all of it. I channel mana into my eyes before slipping into the shadow realm. I think that time is slower here, but I have no way to prove it yet. I focus on his brain and find that Freya was right. A small piece is in the middle of his brain. I set up an array to go off when he is alone that will get rid of it.
I stop time and check both of the women's brains. Oliva has something in hers that I don't want to mess with. It isn't harmful, so I have no problems.
As time resumes I take my place next to Freya. Her eyes go wide as she sees me emerge from the shadows. "What the fuck was that?"
I stick out my tongue before walking down the stairs. I hear Freya cursing me from behind and smile.
"There is my Tye." My mother says before holding me to her chest. "Did you have fun with Freya ?"
On the side, I see that Freya is getting the same treatment from her mother. Our gazes touch, and we both feel the embarrassment that this brings.
"She is a meany," I say while hiding behind my mother.
From behind her mother, I see Freya flip me the bird. "What did she do to you sweetheart?" My mother asks while looking at Oliva.
"She tried to get close." I think up something childish and come up short.
My mother sighs in relief before looking at Oliva, "I am sorry about that. Tyrelius hasn't ever had someone his age around him. You know the reasons why."
Oliva nods and smiles, "It's fine, my Freya can be a little excessive at times. I hope she didn't hurt your boy."
"Mom, I wouldn't hurt him. I just tried to give him a hug." Freya whines before pouting. I have to admit, her puppy eyes almost work on me.
Olivia pats Freya on the head. "It is ok, soon both of you will be attending the same tutor at the caste and will have plenty of time to get to know each other."
I catch myself before I groan. I really don't want to deal with an annoying princess or a stupid tutor. "When?" I ask my mother.
She puts her hand to her chin and thinks. "In four days. Right?" She asks for confirmation from Oliva.
Oliva nods her head before pulling on Freya's hand. "Say bye, we have to get back before dad is home."
Freya glares at me before looking at my mom. "Bye-bye." She says before running out of the room. Both of the mothers sigh before nodding.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
When the door closes behind them, I turn to my mom. "That was annoying." She nods before using air magic to move my father.
She sighs, "We have been friends with them since our school days. And both your dad and Oliva want our families to be connected." She drops the not so subtle hint about their intentions before going into her room.
After she drops him off on the bed, she walks me back to the living room. "So far I have taught you what magic is. But after seeing Freya, I think I need to speed up your studies." I frown, I know more than she ever will.
She stands up and starts pacing across the floor. Her blue robe glows as she channels mana. "The first spell I will teach you is a simple air spell. First, let your mana soak into the surrounding air, then gently push the mana. Think of a breeze when you do."
A small portion of her mana is used to generate a warm breeze. The air from it ruffles my hair and I smile. I follow her example and summon a small breeze.
She claps her hands after seeing me succeed. "I knew you were special, now to convince your father that you don't need his training." She mumbles the last part while pacing.
I sigh. This is one of the redeeming qualities of this new world. I get to be with my parents. On Earth, I still had parents and wasn't mistreated, but my mother was always sick, and we were left to fend for ourselves.
My mother stops ranting and turns towards me with a smile, "Do you want to go outside?"
I nod and run towards the door. My mother puts her shoes before grabbing my hand. "Don't run away." She says before opening the door.
I didn't realize it before, but there must be soundproof runes on the house. Because once we stepped outside, the sounds of the city assaulted my ears.
Horses neighed and walked over the cobblestone streets while pulling carriages. And people chatted while heading towards the giant castle in the distance. Passerby didn't even pay attention as my mother led me to the fountain by our house.
"That castle is where I work, and I will take you for your lessons." My mother says before pointing out more buildings.
When we arrive back at our house a few hours after we left, I go to my room and fall onto the bed. I close my eyes and start to sort through the information. My mother pointed out over fifty buildings that I need to know, such as blacksmiths and tailors. The map quickly forms in my mind. We never went to the castle or any magic shops. Is it because my mother doesn't like those places, or because of me?
I pull my blanket over myself and close my eyes.
"Wake up," A feminine voice whispers in my ear. Why is someone waking me up? I just wanted to sleep.
Yawning, I open my eyes. Freya is crouched next to my bed, and the window is on the floor. "What the hell are you doing here? And why did you have to take the window out of the frame?"
She looks at the window and frowns, "A certain someone enchanted everything, except he forgot that it could just be taken apart." Her mana surges, and the window goes back into its place.
Freya stands up and opens the window before sitting on my bed, "We need to talk."
Thank the nine divines that we aren't dating, or I would actually be worried. "What do you want to talk about? If it bothers me, then I will just reset." Hmm, if I reset, I wouldn't have to deal with her anymore.
She slaps me, "What are you planning? Whatever it is, stop." Am I that easy to read? Well, I never had to hide my thoughts before.
Freya stands up and tugs at her dress. This time she is wearing a purple dress. I don't know why she would wear that to sneak around in, but I am not a girl. "What are our plans?"
I freeze and look into her eyes, "There is no us, I don't want to be involved with you, and you don't need to be near me. So make your own damn plans."
"You act like you can get away. From what I have heard, your dad and my mother want us to be together. So in every wipe, you will end up seeing me, and I will remember." She points her finger at me and touches my forehead. "Whether you like it or not, we are in this together.
Sighing, I lower my head, "I could just nuke this city and be done with it."
"Slap"
"Why did you hit me?" I ask Freya while holding my cheek.
She looks me in the eyes and flicking my forehead again, "Just because you don't like me doesn't mean you can just nuke a city."
I freeze time and stand behind her. As time resumes, she whirls around looking for me, "First of all, you have no way to stop me. Second, your words mean nothing to me, especially when it concerns life. Miss life goddess champion."
She flinches at my remarks before glaring at me, "And what makes you think that it is ok to just kill everyone? I don't know what god thought it was a good idea to give you power, but if you do something, I will use everything available to make your life hell."
I stare at her for a moment before laughing. Not a funny laugh, but that of a crazy person. After a few minutes, she is looking at me in horror. "You know nothing. True hell is much much worse than anything you could do."
To prove my point, I let my aura out to the max. No holding back or limitations that I have imposed on myself. While my mother's aura was peace and life, mine is the opposite; Death and chaos.
I feel the people in the surrounding buildings with weaker souls die, even the stronger people like my parents are paralyzed. I stare at Freya while a void scythe forms in my hand.
Freya looks at me in horror but is otherwise fine, "What happened to you?" She asks me with a gentle voice. She lets her aura out, and the power of life counters mine. Two cataclysmic powers find harmony between themselves, and the world goes quiet.
I let my scythe go and curl into a ball. I hear the souls of those I killed in my ears. The screaming of the others that suffered with me in our personal hell. Souls, I didn't even know I had taken.
The same pain I felt way back then assaults me again. Countless memories of different wipes I never remember slam into my mind. Experiments and thousands of years of study flood me. The pain and loneliness of being alone for that long destroys my mind.
Then in the whirlpool of pain and misery, I lose consciousness.

Freya's POV
The moment I let out my aura, I knew something was wrong. Tyrelius's mana started to run rampant, and his aura started to self-destruct.
Then he fell to the ground. His aura vanished and so did his mana. But a large influx from the surroundings was flowing into him. I try to look at his mana pool only to be blown back. Slamming into the wooden wall and having the breath knocked out of my lungs.
I get up and kneel on the ground, "Please hear this Goddess of life and fate. I ask for your help to save Tyrelius. I know that you gods have plans that are beyond me, but I pray that you help."
My mana leaves my own body and forms a white portal. Out of it steps a beautiful blonde woman wearing nothing but a transparent T-shirt. "What do you want, Freya? Something about a boy, right?" The goddess says while rubbing her eyes.
Before I can answer, the door to Tyrelius's room is blown down, and his parents rush in. Both of them only wear robes but have spells at the ready.
Upon seeing the goddess, Tyrelius's mother frowns while his father bows to the ground. The goddess smirks before looking at Tyrelius, "So a demi-god and a night-kin gave birth to an abyssal. I never that I would see the day that happened."
Tyrelius's mother glares at the goddess before running to her son's fallen body. "What is wrong with him?" She asks the goddess.
I run over to Tyrelius and put a hand on his chest. His mana attacks me and throws me away again. I groan before getting up again.
The goddess is frowning and muttering in a different language. Behind her two more portals form. Out of one, an old man stands, and the other, a woman completely covered in dark bindings.
Ignoring the goddess, I crouch next to Tyrelius's mother, "What is wrong with him?" I ask her.
She shakes her head before looking at the gods. The world is extremely silent while the gods talk and when they are done, the woman wrapped in black bindings walks through a portal and disappears.
The goddess of life pulls a staff of light out of a pocket dimension and gives it to the old man. A look of displeasure on her face all the while.
A bony hand snatches the staff and the old man points it at Tyrelius. He begins to chant and a large array forms above the staff.
I walk over to the goddess, "What is going on?"
The goddess looks at me then back at Tyrelius, "That boy has been suffering from a time loop. I don't know who put it on him, but the strain on his mind finally snapped, leaving him like this. That is why these two old geezers showed up."
I look at the old man and back at where the other women left. The goddess continues to talk, "The man is Dexeus, a god of time. And the woman was Hela, goddess of death. Hela left because she doesn't care about the imbalance in death energies, and Dexeus just wants to kill the person that was messing with time."
The goddess called Tyrelius's mother a demi-god and his father a night-kin. I know what those are but not what an abyssal is, "What is an abyssal?"
She sighs, "An abyssal is an incredibly dangerous being born from chaos and death. From the looks of it, that boy was originally a human that was reborn as an abyssal. And from the brief glance I took at his memory, he is older than anyone on this planet."
A look of surprise forms on her face, "Ohh, this makes more sense."
I look at her with a raised eyebrow. She waves her hand at me, "He didn't even understand how old he was until he felt the chaos in both of your auras. It triggered an array in his soul that let all his memories through."
She sticks her hand through a portal and moves it about for a few minutes. When her hand returns, a large stone tablet is in it. "Touch this to his head and wait a few minutes." She says before handing the tablet to Tyrelius's mother.
I watch as his mother puts the tablet to his head and it glows. A few minutes later she looks at it with a shocked face. Wanting to see what is on it, I walk around both parents and look at the tablet. I look at the table and my jaw drops.
