So...

ToasterForkerAnonymous here with some regrettable news.

I am sadly going to be putting Dex is for Swordplay on hiatus. “Why” you may ask? Simple really, I have ran out of writing stamina. Chapter – 25 – was when I finally noticed it, while Chapter – 24 – had hints of it. It just got harder and harder to stay focused on actually writing the chapter and not just pull out my phone to look at memes, or lewds. I would like to blame it on ADHD but I can only use that as a crutch for so long before it becomes just as lame as any other excuse. I just lack the energy to actually write any more at the current time.

That being said, for a series originally intended to be a role reversal for Isekais it has come a long way from the “drawing board” I call my mind. Dex is for Swordplay started off as a European Knight being Iskeaid to an Edo-period Japanese fantasy world, and him dunking on the locals with his decades of armored combat, and anti-armor combat. I’ll admit Shadiveristy has heavily influenced my fantasy writing with his accurate analysis of Historical weapons. Somewhere along the way it got more and more twisted to just being the average typical Isekai trash novel. Then things started to twist some more as a started to theory craft the lore of the world, this is the part where I got the “cocaine” addict High elves. And by doing all the extra lore I started to think that maybe it shouldn’t just be some typical Isekai trash (it still very much is). This is also where I finally said fuck it and decided that it was gunna be a genderbender- smut book.

This Series was definitely a first. With the aid of HeroForge I was able to get the outline of what my characters looked like, though I will never have the artistic talent as Darren, I still tried to make my character look how I envisioned them. The H-Scenes I tried my damnedest to make as sexy as possible, though as some readers have said I am far too tempted to throw in jokes, sometimes even when I don’t mean to. I feel that My attempts at making the world feel real and gritty also fell flat, both due to me not expanding much and my lack of wanting to truly make my story even remotely dim. What can I say, I got a sweet tooth. I did purposely limit the amount of exposition I put out as I wanted the experience to be believable. Why would people explain the workings of an everyday thing? The mana lamps always come on to herald the night. You don’t know about the Accords? Everyone knows about the Wood and Stone Accords.

Stolen novel; please report.

But man constantly worrying about whether or not my story was coming off well definitely made it harder to write. I was never a writer back in school, heck the only thing I really wrote that wasn’t a book report was a simple piece about conquering a medieval society with an endless wave of automata. So writing is already a difficult thing for me. BUT I have come a long ways from my first attempt at a story.

Comparing the amount of work I’ve done with DifS to insanely lucky is crazy, though I have to admit I kinda cheated by limiting my chapter lengths to around 1.5k words. I definitely am proud that I am getting better, but I also know that I am going to be disappoint a lot of people along the way before I finally get to the point I am competent enough to finish a story proper. For sure when I DO get to that point I will go back to the series prior to finish and polish them up, like with Insanely Lucky or Dex is For Swordplay.

Again this is Hiatus, but only for now, I WILL COME BACK TO FINISH THE FIGHT!

Yours truly,
