Quiet Sunday.
That was all Jack Miles wished for, one quiet Sunday with his wife Jess. However his quiet contemplation was disturbed by the sound of his watch ringing.
"We got his location Jack, task force is on the standby waiting for your arrival, I'll send you all the necessary info, " his colleague and partner Rick Hoves said.
"Alright, be right there," he replied.
Second later his watched signaled that a message had come.
He turned to his wife kissed her goodbye and walked to the front door, but Jess had grabbed his hand and said, "Be careful, honey, whatever happens come home, come home to me and Hailey," while touching her tummy. He could see her worrying face so he smiled and nodded.
All she heard was a slight bump of the door closing behind him. There was a tear, not one but multiple running down her cheeks, because she knew who they were after it was all over the news. She wiped the tears and scoffed, maybe the pregnancy was making her act up she thought.
Jack reached the car and went to the trunk to pick up his combat gear and service gun. He knew what he was going into today and that there was a possibility of him not returning. He closed his trunk with a notable bang. When he looked down at his fist he realized that they had been clenched for a while now, his knuckles white from the pressure.
He reached to his back pocket for a one and lit it. Puff of smoke could be seen when he got in the car and tires whistled as he set off.
Light from sun was getting darker by the second and the atmosphere felt to him was grim, as quiet buzz of AATRSS drones flying could be heard all around. AdvencedAerialThreatRecognitionSurveillanceSystem are, as the name implies, surveillance drones that patrol all the habitable parts of country.
"Storm is coming," he said out loud, not concerned if others would think of him as a madman.
He touched his watch and a hologram appeared. There were multiple files so he selected the latest entry named Nine Eyes, case #1458A-X. The system would generate random name and code for each case with unidentified convicts.
A window appeared with a file of the convict, he read it for a while and now he got a clue who the convict was.
It was a white male, brown short hair, violet eyes, 1.8 meters, with a strange demon-like tattoo on his neck. That was all the info they had gathered from the MemoREConsturct of his victims. MREC, can easily restore memories of dead up to 12 hours, however it takes few weeks to process and then few hours for the LIB to run a face check. LIB stored all the information about every citizen, from their name to the daily their routine.
New info was his ID. Now the slot for his name was changed from unidentified to Arthur Aeris, 18 yrs. With that, they had all they needed to take him to organ recycling. In simple terms, he was a dead man.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
There was also readout of his daily mandatory psychological examination by MemoREcognition. However he was all in norm, which was surprising, since criminals and sometimes all citizens had their emotions out of norm and this guy had readings of a average citizen. Every day, he was in the norm, always the same, which was frightening.
His mental performance however was extraordinary, 165 IQ and he was top in all his classes, which was a sign of high intellect. Jack's worries came true, their convict somehow fooled MRE and wasn't he under closer surveillance. They would need to get rid of him fast as he was more dangerous than they initially thought. He was a monster and danger to society.
He soon arrived at the Base 35 ready for the execution which was about to come.
Base 35 was a huge pyramid shaped concrete fortress with flat top. It was about 230 meters tall and 600 wide, towering over all the other skyscrapers in the city, it was also located in the middle of the city, where all crucial systems were, drones flew in and out, police drones flew in and out. It was key chain part of the System. Base 35 hosted all the power generators in the city and had wast underground facilities which were known only to the System.
There was a huge round parking lot around the base so he parked his car near the entrance and went through the security check that was there. All was automated and controlled by the System. He placed his hand on a paedestal and soon blue light ran through him after a while ding sounded and door ahead of him opened.
Then he appeared in a hangar. Due to security reasons all personel who went out of the base had their memories wiped. For obvious reasons. Enemies of the System could hide everywhere.
He looked around and there was only one ship prepared with it's crew ready. 13 men in top combat gear were prepared to hunt down and execute the convict. He recognized the squad immediatelly, it was Alpha squad, the best of the best.

I sat down and waited for their arrival smiling and prepared for everything that was to come. I placed few explosives around that I made earlier, that were connected to my heartbeats, so if I would achieve part of my goal. If I was able to fool the system someone would too, I hope. I scoffed at that thought either way they would be dead after tonight.
I chose the tallest civil building in the town. It was full of engineers and scientists from Base 35. Step by step, this city will crumble. I will make sure of it. Some would call me mad and that is true, but it's better to be mad and free than brainwashed and controlled by the System.
After a while I could hear them comming. I thought it wouldn't take them so long, I've been sitting here for two hours usually they would be lot faster.
It started raining slightly and soon it poured. It was creating great atmosphere for a fight I basically forced them into no win situation.
Three drones arrived and right then the dark rooftop was enlightened by two AATSS drones and 13 combatants fast-roped on it. They were the infamous combat team Alpha in all it's glory and with all their gadgets.
They surrounded me and pointed their weapons at me, how brute and boring, they would be gone in a while so I could have undisturbed chat with the chief detective that was handling my case. It was time to move yet another piece on the chessboard.
Yet another combatant fast-roped, this time it would be chief detective Jack Miles.
"I request a fair trial," I jokingly said. Who knows, maybe they would think that I wouldn't fight back. I can use every little advantage I can get.
"Fool, there are no trials needed anymore, great System decides everything for us, any last words?" Miles replied.
Just as I thought, mindless sheep.
"I would like to ask you something, would you mind~?" I asked with a smile.
"Go ahead, but don't think you can delay your execution." he responded with annoyed voice while lighting a cigar.
"What is the name that has the 'great' System given me?" It took a lot effort to say the System and 'great' in one sentence.
"You're more foolish than I thought, Nine Eyes, don't fry his vitals, we'll need his body for organ recycling." And as he commanded they complied.
