Chapter - 2

“My luck has failed me once again...”

…………………………………………...

Lisa was dreaming of catching butterflies with her majestic familiar knight, who was wearing full golden shining armour, and was able to slay dragons in just a swing of his blade, the familiar had no rival. When Lisa got tired of catching butterflies she was teleported to a huge scale war, with dragons and their riders soaring across the deep red skies, mages on both sides colliding against each other with magic, and sly and cunning infantry sneaking up to the mages in hopes to slaughter the opposition’s mage units. However, Lisa had already picked her side, the blue side, which was commanded by her great father, who majestically commanded his troops with godlike strategies. Lisa pointed and shouted towards a knight who wore a red uniform with three golden stars, he was a general, declared by the three stars on his chest.

“Get him Luna!”

Luna, the name of Lisa’s most loved and cherished dog, which was gifted by her mother on Lisa’s birthday. It was a golden retriever that had protected Lisa from fake kidnappings; a scheme made up by her father, in hopes that the dog would become a great guard dog. Lisa did not know about these schemes, and had generally thought the dog had saved her life numeral times.

The scabbard of a katana being slowly unsheathed rung out through the whole battle field, making all the soldiers momentarily gaze at the person responsible, Luna, in her full golden armour. Soon the katana reached the end of the sheath, instantly becoming unsheathed, and an air slicing motion made towards the distant general; the air was cut, as an airwave travelled across the battlefield and severed the head of the general like butter…

“Is she dead?”

A concerned and childish voice spoke out, making Lisa rouse herself from the dream with a shock, as she quickly jumped up and exclaimed.

“What about my familiar?”

Lisa quickly noticed the place she was in: in her boarding room, and it was already dark outside. She looked around the room, to see the person who had asked the question, but she had found no one. Lisa got out the bed and undressed, as seeing it was already late, she might as well go to bed and get up early tomorrow. Taking off her school uniform: black cloak, shirt, shoes and tights, and a white t-shirt underneath the cloak. She threw her clothes on the chair, where her bag was, which made Lisa red in the face as she remembered being late for class, and also forgetting her bag.

As soon as that was all finished, she took out her nightgown from the drawer; which was an almost transparent white dress, and went down to her knees. Arriving at her massive princess bed, she flicked back her long blonde hair which was stuck underneath her nightgown. Going under the soft and heavy duvet, which was cold and refreshing, contrasting the warm night. However, she quickly perked up and ran to the door, as she remembered that someone had spoken in the room.

Quickly locking the door, she heaved a sigh of relief as she returned to her bed in a hurry, jumping the last few steps so that the bed monster does not grab her feet. Under the duvet, she recounted her embarrassing morning, that will never happen again…

As she was falling asleep, she kept recalling the dreamy image of a boy resting against a menacing greatsword, and a question arose within her mind again, but not before she fell into deep sleep.

“What about my familiar?”

……………………

“Foolish girl wake up, it is time for school”

An innocent and childish voice spoke to Lisa, who was bathing in sunlight on her bed, she was hugging her pillow with her whole body. However, Lisa did not wake up, but instead started to snore slightly. Again the voice spoke out, but this time annoyed.

“Imbecile...you are going to be late”

Again, Lisa had not woken, but showed a single sign of arousing; suddenly thrusting the air with her hand. However, it soon fell down and she snored louder. The person who had been attempting to wake her, was now at the edge of the bed; a white haired boy with golden eyes, and a massive black sword. The boy placed his hand on her cheeks, and squeezed, making Lisa look like a fish.

Instantly Lisa woke up alerted, and thrashed her hand around in an attempt to make the boy stop squeezing, but the boy kept squeezing until Lisa’s eyes showed signs of being awake, pushing her head into the pillow for an extra measure, in case she falls to sleep again. Lisa took glances at the boy from under her duvet, but that was quickly thrown off her and replaced with her school uniform, and Lisa had no time to protest as she attempted to connect this boy to the one she had seen in her dream; but it wasn’t a dream, and she had just figured it out. Lisa shouted, whilst pointing a finger at the boy’s face, as the boy looked lightly at her from a chair.

“AHHH...who are you?”

The boy only sighed seeing the reaction of the girl, but quickly introduced himself with a slight nod. Whilst also adding what seemed like a praise, for Lisa.

“I can’t believe am forced to serve such a geniusly thick headed woman...I am your familiar from today onwards”

However, Lisa only let out streams of tears, as she kept rubbing her eyes and gave glancing looks at the boy. Then she spoke out the reasons for crying, which shocked the boy beyond belief.

“I cannot believe my familiar is going to be such a weak little boy”

The boy was so shocked that he started to reach for his sword, but stopped when there was a sudden knock on the door, and a dignified boyish voice spoke behind it.

“Lisa van Asei, it is my duty to see that you are not late again, it is I Kristof Grendor, your class representative”
