Chapter - Lezaro
It seems I fainted from those numerous surprises, of the congratulatory notes, but now that I’m awake, I won’t fall asleep since it is still dark. I need to hunt and improve, so that my familiar that is still in it’s egg, could be proud of having such a skillful master. I could kinda guess that I have not been out for long, if it is still dark outside. So during that time...everyone calmed down, I was placed in my bed, but where did my ‘Laxius Volgenheim’ go, to the shed?
Firstly, I’ll go wake up dad and get him to supervise me as I hunt, as he always said…
“Safety is a necessity to survival.” The strong and dominant voice of my Father was heard, as he opened the door and stepped into my room.
He read my mind like an open book, he wasn’t even in my room when he said that.
“How did you...” I went to question him, but he interrupted me with a booming laugh.
He is going to wake his “Darling” and Mother up. That is okay since I won’t be the one in trouble, but I want to go hunting with father right now. However if mother is awake, I won’t get to go because she won’t let us. Something about darkness never showing mercy or…
“Shut up dad, and lets just go.” I told him whilst clenching his mouth shut with my hands.
Fortunately dad understood and became quiet, and we left my room and then the house, after putting our boots on. dad already had his bow and quiver on his back, which meant that he knew we would leave to hunt. Well how wouldn’t you know, when you know that your daughter has a “special” routine every night that involves danger. However, most people would think I would still be asleep, but dad...he always knows everything, and it’s incredible.
Dad gave me a longsword that mother was trying to get father to gift me, but he didn’t give in and it stayed his. Father does like his stuff a lot. Then, we slowly made our way to the forest, it is a very calm and beautiful night tonight. When we came to the entrance of the forest, dad stopped and I knew what he was going to tell me, “be safe and don’t take risks”. He says that all the time.
“Alright, I’ll be a little behind you, so that you further increase your exper...”
“I get it, I can start now”
He was walking away, without telling me to be safe. No, I feel like something will go wrong if I don’t hear those words.
“Dad, aren’t you forgetting anything?”
He gave me a questioning look, before opening his mouth in surprise.
“That’s right! The bigger the better.” Even though that voice was filled with enthusiasm, there was something wrong, his voice held a tinge of sadness and pain.
He forgot again, and isn’t that his hunting squad’s motto? Something isn’t right with dad.
“Dad...are you okay?”
He once more gave me a questioning and puzzled look, but after he “figured” out what it was, he fell down on the floor panting. Yeah, there is definitely something wrong with him today, did he get drunk?
I ran up to him, and saw his hands clenching his chest, as if it was in horrible pain. I placed my hand on his back and started to rub it in a circular motion.
“Dad, what is wrong?”
“...something is going to happen tomorrow, something terrible”
I knew what dad said must be true, but I just cannot believe it, or feel that something will happen. Will something terrible happen to us, or someone else?
“Dad, how do you know and what is it?”
At this point, dad regained his strength and only looked to be in pain, at the concept of revealing the information or not. However, I knew that he was going to tell me, since if it is something important then nothing matters, the only thing that matters for dad is whether or not the thing is known.
“It’s my hunter instincts, they are making me feel like...”
I really wanted to know desperately what it is, but when dad locked his bow with an arrow, and aimed it into the dark forest, I knew that he won’t tell me if I ask, only he can make the decision. So following his example, I unsheathed my blade and took stance against the unknown.
I stood, trying to get a glimpse of the creature that alarmed father. I took a glance at dad for a second, to get even some hints at the location of the enemy, his arrow was shot and now he was flying towards me? His bow was dismissed, and orbiting in the air behind him, as he fell ontop of me.

“Stay down.” Father told me, as time went back to normal, he took my blade out my shaky hands and went to the creature.
At the place I previously stood, a patch of abysmal dark grass covered the place, it wasn’t there before.
“It is dead, you can stand.” Father said sternly, from the darkness of the forest.
I stood up and dusted myself off, then took a look at the prey that dad had killed and is dragging with one hand. A really thick and long green reptile, a Lezaro, one that shoots magical water out of its mouth. The forehead of this current creature has an arrow piercing it, no doubt it was father and his godly precision. However, how did he know it was going to be a Lezaro, and fire off a magic spell right from the get go?
“Dad how...” Before I could make out another word, dad interrupted me.
“It was one of the five nocturnal creatures that inhabit this forest, did you not...let’s just go home, I’m not in a great mood.” He told me seriously, all the kindness that once held in his voice was gone.
That was that, any kind of information that I want to get from father, will now be impossible.
Dad was carrying the Lezaro as if it weighed nothing, which in reality probably weighs twice as much as him, he carried it with a distant and cold facial expression. I couldn’t say anything on the way home, because of the air he was given off.
When we reached the door of our home, dad stopped and looked at me in an indifferent way, as if he couldn’t be bothered with anything.
“Head around the shed, it must have hatched already”
Egg? Hatched? Wha...oh, the egg!
“Yes father!” I shouted with a smile that probably reached the heavens.
“Keep it down, I don’t want to get divorced for enda...” I think my father was still speaking, but I was already flying off to the shed door.
I’ve always watched dad rid off atop Fenixia, traveling as fast as draconates that are in the skies, it also looks so noble and majestic. Now, I will be able to ride with dad, and adventure with him together. The adventures...are going to be my life, and this egg will be my ride.
The door of the shed was slowly being opened, and I could see Fenixia’s head poking around, she had a big mischievous smile going across her face. I ran into the shed without caring about that cheeky grin, but then, an arm was straightened out in front of me, closing-lining me using my own momentum.
“Elisiana, I heard you almost died.” The person who spoke sounded really kind, but really, she is a big gate with no entrance in front of my dreams.
“I didn..” Before I could say anything else, father stumbled into the shed from the outside. His face was bruised and beaten, and a small stream of blood was flowing down his chin.
Father got smashed hard this time, harder than usual, he probably made it worse by saying the wrong thing and made mother misunderstand. Like one time, father mixed up one of his recent huntings, with our nightly hunting. So mother thrashed him hard, because she thought me and father were taking on four ents at a time. Father’s hunting squad consists of forty veteran elites, so there was no way two people could do what forty people struggled to do.
“Hunter, explain Elisiana the contracts, and then hurry to bed. We need to speak.” Mother said with a sad face, her eyes were slightly teary and her lips were shivering, father must have told her about his hunter instinct…
***
Father and mother already went to bed, whilst I'm still in the shed, prying open my little treasure. Father told me about the numerous contracts, that allow familiars to communicate by the mind...blah blah. He can explain more when the time comes, since he will always be there for me. This “little treasure”, when he grows up he will need to kill at least a God, to match up to father, and to...no, I shouldn’t suggest such a dirty thought. Father might “detect” me on his princess radar, and I don’t want that.
