Hey everyone, im back again with another daily release. Surprisingly writing a story is a fantastic creative outlet. And I get to train my typing speed which is slowly rising from 50wpm to 90wpm so I’m feeling pretty good. Anyways enjoy the chap. :D =====================================================================================
Khafk awoke feeling pleasantly cozy as if he’d just been sitting by a fireplace. It took a while before he managed to crack open his sunlight shy eyes and start packing up camp. Though a peculiar thing happened when he picked up the bottle of Fire Dragons Belch. Empty. The entire liquid content of the bottle had mysteriously vanished, which meant the culprit was either the ground, or the suspicious egg which now had a light red glow permeating from it.
“That bottle was worth 1000 gold coins you dastardly egg, but I have a sneaking suspicion you’ll be worth every drop.” He muttered while finishing packing the wool blanket and left over kindle.
With the excited thoughts of a young boy spurring his action, Khafk walked through the snow. Pausing only briefly to check the trees for directional markings and continuing on.
After several hours of walking and a few dozen scared Bat Squirrels later, Khafk came upon an etching that indicated Newton was only two kilometers away.
Pleasantly surprised, Khafk broke into a rhythmic run. If you had been an angry yet terrified squired in the forest you’d have seen a small boy with golden blonde hair and a pale complexion running through the snow in joy. While a dark haze seeped from his shadow consuming the life of creatures and trees around him.
Khafk had only been running for a few minutes before he came upon an ancient looking cabin. The signs of old age was reflected by the brittle skin of its dark wood body. In the windows there could be seen a small, slightly hunched humanoid shape moving frantically around. The only differentiation that told it wasn’t a human were a pair of small wings which fluttered at a frantic pace.
Naturally being a very curious kid, Khafk couldn’t help being mystified by the creature and why it was within the cabin. So using stealth skills akin to a boar he shuffled towards the front door. As he drew near, Khafk could see that there was a small black iron template imbedded in the center of the door. And scripted rather artfully were the words “Sod off if you’re thinking of knocking.” Khafk was bemused by the sight and quickly put down his pack to knock on the door, but when he looked upon the slab again it read something different.
“I already told your commander that I have no idea what happened to Deva’cher, and no I’m not going there anytime soon!” Khafk realizing that the words were meant for someone else raised his fist and knocked softly before the door swung open.
“I told you I’m not going anywhere until I finish my research now f-… ah” An ancient figure stood in the doorway, his wrinkled hands covering his mouth.
Khafk and the old man continued staring at each other for a brief moment before the old man recovered himself.
“Hello young man what brings you to this elder’s home?” The man asked in a dignified tone.
“I saw something curios flying around through your window, so I wanted to find out what exactly it is.” Khafk said with a slight twinkle in his eyes.
The old man chuckled softy “Of course, you must be fascinated by Nomly he’s an imp.” And at the snap of the man’s fingers a small being appeared. It had a dark blue body with a short black bushy beard, and was suspended in the air by two bat like wings that were almost impossible to see.
Khafk couldn’t take his eyes off the strange creature, a slight grin appeared on his face. The old man who had been quietly observing the whole time chuckled again.

“My name is Raeghlie what is yours young man?”
“Khafk nice to meet you Raeghlie.”
“Nice to meet you as well, would you like to come inside and have a cup of tea?” Raeghlie asked.
“I should take this opportunity to ask the old man about those soldiers that were searching for clues concerning Deva’cher.” Khafk thought briefly before smiling widely and accepting Raeghlie’s offer.
Inside the house was a wonderment of small contraptions, brewing potions, and diagrams covered in illegible runes. Khafk stared in amazement before sitting upon an offered stool. The old man followed Khafk’s wandering gaze and gave a slight smile before heading into the kitchen with Nomly in tow.
A couple of minutes later, Raeghlie came out carrying two crystal tea cups filled with a light brown liquid. The small imp Nomly took one and drifted over to Khafk depositing the drink upon the wooden table in front of him. Raeghlie took a seat opposite of Khafk, while simultaneously taking a small gulp of tea. Giving satisfied sigh he placed the cup on the table.
“So Khafk what brought you to Newton?” He asked with his eyebrows arched in a quizzical motion.
Khafk saw no reason to lie to Raeghlie who had shown nothing, but kindness so far; there was also a distinct feeling that if he tried to lie this old man would know. So he took a large gulp of tea which tasted strangely similar to cinnamon before replying.
“I’m heading towards Diablo’s Tail so that I may reach the Eastern Empire.” Khafk said, a slight tremor slithered through his arms.
“That is a perilous journey for one so young to make, do you mind me asking why you need to go there?” Raeghlie was speaking, but the words seemed harder for Khafk to understand.
“I have business that needs to be done… there….” Khafk slouched over asleep.
Raeghlie stood up and glanced at the boy reproachfully. “Im sorry Khafk, but that journey will have to wait until I discover what that disgusting presence lurking inside you is.”
As Raeghlie and Nomly reached out to move the boy a terrifying pressure leaked out from Khakf’s bag. Raeghlie immediately stimulated his Ki channels and took a battle stance, with the imp Nomly hiding behind his back.
They were frozen in place for several more minutes before the small bag shook and a cracking sound could be heard. The cracking intensified as Raeghlie waited in anticipation, and then a small black reptilian head peaked out from the top of the bag a golden tipped tail within its mouth. There was a brief moment of silence before a telepathic voice resembling that of a child resounded in their minds. “Don’t touch master.”
Raeghlie and Nomly were petrified with their mouths agape as the small creature clambered out and landed upon Khafk’s head, nesting in his golden hair. The small creature had features trimmed in gold, and a body darker than onyx that was curved in a circular form. It held a limp tail within its maw.
After it was satisfied with the nest that was made it turned towards the duo and matched their gazes with startling ruby red irises. After what seemed like an eternity the voice rang out again. “Stay away from master.”
On the 2nd day of Avair 1000 an existence was born, and had claimed new territory atop a sleeping youths head while it stared viciously at an old man and cowardly imp.

I wonder if you can guess what this creature is before reading the next chapter. (Hint): It has something to do with the tail
