On a bright and sunny day, many of the common working people were going about their usual business. Some were paying taxes, others getting something to eat. However, this story focuses on two unusual people, one of which were highly upset and outraged at the moment, while the other was close by, unaware about his soon to be encounter. The woman inside was named Jade, and the man outside Grim.
Jade was currently sobbing, tears pouring from her crystal clear eyes that seemed to change colors. Her hands were balled into fists, gripping onto the bag her now ex-boyfriend had given her.
"How could you do this? A year, and then you just want to split? Why?" She asked, all but demanding an answer.
Her ex, Tanner, sighed as he opened the door to the coffee shop and looked back at her with exasperation. With a grimace, he gave her the bluntest response her could muster.
"I'm just not interested anymore. You're not fun like you were at first."
Jade's eyes widened as Tanner stepped out, letting the door close. However, Jade couldn't accept the heartbreak so easily. Not for the reason that she wasn't fun anymore. She rushed out after him, catching Tanner by surprise.
"You asshole!" She screamed, the tears drying slowly on her face as she threw her bag at him with as much force as she could muster.
Tanner managed to step out of the way, a slight stagger as he went off balance from barely avoiding a broken nose on impact. However, both of them had to stare after the shattering noise that came from behind Tanner. The bag had hit the windshield of an expensive Mercedes, splintering it.
"You're on your own Jade. This is what happens when you get too emotional. Goodbye." Tanner said quietly, before walking away from her.
However, her attention was no longer on him, but the man in a grey suit that was observing the damage to his car. He shook his head before turning to the source of his problem.
"My name is Grim, and I want you to approach me for a moment. Tell me what you see." Grim demanded.
Jade, with no other choice, walks to his side and looks at the windshield that she had just recently destroyed. After thinking about it for a few moments, she wipes her eyes before responding.

"I see a problem that I need to fix. And...an opportunity." She said before looking at Grim.
She could swear that, for a brief moment, she glimpsed a small grin on his face. She shook it off as another black car pulled up and he opened the door to it. However, he turned and looked at her, which surprised her.
"Well, aren't you getting in? You gave me a satisfactory answer. Now seize your opportunity."
She stayed frozen for just a moment more before walking up to him and getting in. He quickly followed suit and closed the door behind him, allowing himself to relax and pull his tie loose. Noticing that she looked uncomfortable, Grim crossed his legs.
"So what is your name? I never did ask for that, which was an oversight on my part." He questioned, although with a kinder tone than before.
Her eyes darted to him before going in the opposite direction when she realized he was staring at her.
"Relax. You can look at me, I don't mind. It's not like I'll gouge your eyes out for doing so."
Jade was surprised yet again. She assumed that he would be stuck up like most other wealthy individuals, but he had proven the opposite.
"I'm Jade. There's nothing really special to say otherwise about myself." She hesitantly replied.
"Now tell me, why do you think you aren't special? You have a unique way of thinking, one that I happen to share. I would say that's special." Grim responded.
Jade had a small smile on her face at the thought that someone still thought she was special. Nonetheless, she was still hesitant to open herself to more torment or pain because someone got bored of her. Something Grim could notice instantly.
"Well, regardless, I see potential in you, something I very rarely notice in anybody. As such, there is something I would like to discuss. A deal of sorts." Grim told her, a slightly menacing smirk on his face.
Fortunately for Grim, this smirk did nothing to dissuade Jade.
"What kind of deal are we talking about?"
Grim, on the other hand, was surprised at her blatant courage in the situation she was in.
"I need a new personal assistant. My last one met with an unfortunate accident and died. However, you show promise. I would also like to teach you some of what I know, so there is someone to take my place in case something happens."
"So," Jade begins, "Your deal is what exactly?"
"I want you to become my personal assistant. You will be paid like a normal employee. I will also drop any charges or fees for my car's damages. In exchange, you will spend some time learning what I do and move in with me at my place of residence." Grim said, straight faced.
"Why would I live with you?"
Grim stares at her for a few moments, stunned at how she can think clearly while upset, but something so obvious could stump her.
"If you were my personal assistant, I need you on call at all times. That is another reason I would be dropping the cost of repairs. Anyways do you accept? Keep in mind, all deals with me must be kept."
Grim held out his hand, a menacing look in his eyes as he waited for a response.
Jade hesitated as she looked into his eyes, which seemed to glow an almost evil red. However, she doesn't have any reason to say no, so she reaches out and shakes his hand.
"I accept your deal, Grim." Jade responded, with confidence.
