“Well... would you look at that...”
Syrus sighed as he stared out the window of his apartment, watching as the sky glitched out. It was like when his computer programs bugged out, but instead of seeing it through the computer screen, it was displayed across the sky.
Syrus had read about this in the hundreds of novels he read. This scenario could only lead to either a world ending apocalypse that would kill them all, a magic system descend that would bring monsters to kill them all, creating gates that would give humans super natural abilities and allow monsters to come and kill them all, or a combination of all three. Either way, they would all die.
“Let me guess. You’re thinking of something negative,” a woman with long black hair approached him from behind, wrapping her arms around Syrus’s waist.
“If you focus on the negative, you’d be happier when the positive happens Eliza,” Syrus stated.
Elizabeth Layle, a curvaceous woman with long black hair that smoothly reached to her waist, onyx black eyes that seemed to pierce through your very soul when you stare at them, and an alluring personality that makes anyone want to be her slave.
“Did you just give me an introduction in your head?” Eliza asked with an amused grin.
“It’s my thing,” Syrus chuckled. “Don’t hate on it.”
Eliza chuckled as well. “Don’t worry. I find your weird fantasy that we’re all living in some novel cute,” Eliza released her hold on his waist and sat on the bed. “But I would prefer it if I was a villainess and not some heroine that needs to be constantly saved.”
Syrus laughed in amusement. “You’re definitely not some damsel in distress,” Syrus replied while he continued to stare at the glitching sky.
They’re conversation was interrupted by a floating panel.
System integration successful
Syrus stared at the message with interest. Just the short sentence alone gave Syrus multiple scenarios to consider.
Select your base
* Combat
* Strategy
* Production
* Unique
“Oh?” Syrus stared at the floating panel intently.
From all novels and web comics he’s read, a similar scenario often occurred. A game like system giving the players a choice on how they want to proceed. Based on the choices provided, choosing one would likely show another set of choices based on the option we pick, or provided with a random game class.
Syrus also couldn’t remove the chance that the system would assign them a class that suited the player most.
Among the choices, the one that interested Syrus the most was the last option, “Unique”. That option seemed to lean towards being assigned a class that suited the player, rather than another set of choices.
“What are you choosing?” Eliza suddenly asked. “I’m sure you’re seeing this too, right?” Eliza pointed at something in front of her that Syrus couldn’t see. Likely her own floating panel that is only visible to her. “You’re the expert in this.”
“I don’t want to make a choice for you, but I’ll be choosing the last option,” Syrus answered.
“Unique? Why?” Eliza asked.
“From all the material I’ve read, the odd one out often turned out to be the best choice,” Syrus made his decision.
You have chosen Unique as your base
You will be granted a class based on your traits
You have been given the class Unknown Villain
Syrus focused on the class he was given, seemingly asking for a description of the class.
Unknown Villain Type: Summoner/Crafter You have delusional view of the world, but refuses to acknowledge yourself as the center of your own life. You place people on a pedestal, not out of admiration but to increase how high they could fall.
“I feel both flattered and insulted,” Syrus muttered as he read the description of the class. “What did you get?” he turned to Eliza.
“Hold on,” Eliza kept her focus on the panel, apparently still reading something.
Syrus shrugged and returned to his own panel. “Can I see my status screen?”
Syrus Blake – Level 1 Class: Unknown Villain Stats: Strength: 10 Spirit: 0 Agility: 12 Magic: 0 Constitution: 10 Dexterity: 12
“Any skills?”
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
Analysis Allows you to view the name, level, class, and trait of the individual you use the skill on.
Antagonizing unit Allows you to craft an Antagonist.
“...” Syrus stared at the second skill in confusion.
The first skill was simple and pretty straightforward in its use, but the second skill gave a short description that was too vague for Syrus to come to a clear conclusion.
Instead of dwelling on it, Syrus decided to test out his first skill. He turned to Eliza and activated “Analysis”.
Elizabeth Layle – Level 1 – Crimson Enchantress - None
Syrus raised an eyebrow at the information visible to him. Basing off what he could see from her class, Elizabeth would have some sort of mind control ability or support buffs. But with her personality, Syrus leaned towards the former.
Syrus was about to ask Eliza something, but he got distracted by the sound of something shattering. The sound came from outside, and looking out the window revealed something even he wasn’t expecting.
A bunch of giant rifts opened in the sky. But what surprised him more was that floating ships were coming through the rifts before closing behind them.
“I was expecting monsters,” Syrus commented as he watched the scene.
“You were right. Be negative and be happier when the positive happens,” Eliza spoke from the bed.
The ships began to descend to the ground. Most of them became out of view as they got lower, but one ship landed a short distance away from the apartment, still giving Syrus a good view of it.
There were people on the ship, but they didn’t look human at all. They had fair skin and blonde hair, along with blue eyes and pointed ears. They looked like the typical depiction of elves in media with their green and gold armor.
As they lowered a bridge to exit the ship, Syrus wondered how they’ll react to the crowd of people gathering around their ship. To his disappointment, the elves didn’t seem hostile as they interacted with the people that gathered around their ship.
“What should we do?” Eliza asked.
Syrus turned to her. “We wait.”
----------------------------------------
It took three days until any formal announcement was made by the government. Syrus watched from his television as the president did his speech regarding the situation.
The first thing they addressed was the system’s appearance. Not everyone gained access to the system, and they only managed to figure out the criteria for obtaining the system because of the people that came through the rift.
Firstly, a person needed to have a clean record. Meaning, not a single person in prison or been to prison gained access to the system. Second, they needed to have done at least a certain number of genuine “good” deeds, so any children that were too young also did not gain access to the system since they haven’t gotten the chance yet. Lastly, a person needed to have the drive to perform.
The last part was pretty vague.
The next part of the speech was introducing the people that came through the rifts. Standing beside the president were the representative of each group that came through the rifts, showing variety of different fantasy races like elves, dwarves, vampires, and even other humans.
They came from a different dimension that integrated with the system first and came to this dimension to “help” people to adjust and hold off the first wave of monsters that will soon appear through rifts.
They also announced the creation of a new department of the government regarding the management of “Players”. Any more details would be announced at a later date.
Syrus crossed his arms. “They bit the bait pretty fast.”
He was sure that the people in power didn’t willingly accept these sudden changes. Syrus chuckled, at least he knew that in the next election, he’d vote for any candidate that was a player.
“Anyways,” Syrus began looking up any information regarding the new department of the government related to players.
The only thing mentioned was that the head of the new was a player too and they’re “inviting” players to register themselves.
“I’ll wait a week before making a decision.”
----------------------------------------
A week had passed and Syrus already noticed a lot of big changes. Firstly, discrimination against players began to spread. It started with a few establishments putting up signs that said that players weren’t allowed, then to people treating the other races like criminals trying to take over Earth.
But all that began to change when the rifts started to appear after day 3. Monsters came out and began ripping people to shreds until the other races intervened. There were millions of casualties on the first day alone, which made Syrus wonder if the other races waited until there were enough casualties before intervening.
It was pretty a decent assumption considering how easy they slaughtered the monsters in the footage uploaded in the internet.
Looking out the window, Syrus saw a pretty interesting scene. An injured monster was limping across the street and into an alley. It looked like a skinny dog with black fur and no tail.
Syrus smirked.
Making his way down the building, Syrus entered the alley he saw the monster go into and followed the trail of purple blood. Before he turned corners, he made sure to do a careful peak to make sure the monster wasn’t getting ready to ambush him.
After a few minutes, Syrus found the monster collapsed on the ground, but still breathing. He was about to reach for his gun, but decided to use his bat instead. “Nothing personal buddy,” Syrus said before landing a heavy swing on the monster’s head.
You have slain an Imp dog level 1
You have leveled up
You gained 5 stat points
“Oh,” Syrus stared at the panels for a few second before he noticed that the monster he just killed glitched out of existence and only left behind a small yellow stone. “Analysis.”
Lowest grade mana stone
“I’ll hold on to this,” Syrus muttered before heading back up to his apartment.
On his way up, he saw a guy rushing down the stairs. Out of boredom, Syrus activated analysis and saw something interesting.
Ethan Lowe – Level 1 – Heroic Blade - Regressor
Syrus suppressed a laugh as the man went out of view and the information vanished. Once he arrived at his apartment, he began to cackle before slowly dying down.
“This is going to be fun.”
