Into each life some rain must fall.

Finally the last period of school; the teacher continued the lesson halfheartedly since most of the class was missing.

People can be so stupid

It was another one of those “the end is near” scares. The biggest one since Y2K or 2012.Still, people had a reason to be scared.

One of the girls seated towards the front had a large coughing fit. Antonio turned and noticed that like most students she was wearing a face mask to prevent disease.

The government had called it a new strain of rabies that turned people into rabid beasts. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) had told the public that in a matter of months they would have a vaccine prepared. Why would the government lie? Antonio didn't believe in those types of conspiracies.

He turned to his left toward the windows leading outside showing the rain that had turned the world outside grey and looked at his friend Ned seated in the corner. Ned was wearing a hoodie that hung completely over the front of his face, blocking the view of his almost golden hair.

Ned had a habit of sitting in corners with his back to a wall like a mobster.

“It’s something I picked up from my dad, to watch entrances and exits, ya'know?” was the response Ned gave Antonio as to his preference of corners.

Sleeping like always.

Antonio ripped a sheet of paper from his notebook taking note in not causing a loud sound. He crushed the paper into a ball that he threw at Ned to wake him up.

“Ned,” he whispered, “Ned wake up.”

Antonio threw another ball of paper aiming for Ned’s head

Groggily, Ned put up his head searching for the direction the ball was thrown. He looked at Antonio and whispered “What?”

Tapping his wrist Antonio tried to tell Ned that school was nearly over.

“Ok class that’s the end of the lesson. For the next fifteen minutes you guys have free time until the bell rings.”

David—the student seated in front of Ned—turned around.

“Ned what’d you think about the government and that superhuman project?”

Antonio stared at David. He didn’t like David. David was the bad influence dragging his friend back.

Before school, Lunch, and after school Antonio and Ned would always play Basketball it’s how they became good friends, until, David showed up and started getting Ned interested in Video games. Ned quit the basketball team and started spending more time on his computer and his grades started to drop. Antonio was a straight A student. Ned was the type that didn't have to study to ace his tests but he started getting lazier and lazier.

“Tony!”

“Huh?” Antonio snapped out of his thoughts turned to Ned.

“You wanna go to the arcade after this?” asked Michael whose face was filled with acne.

“Um”

The truth was that Michael was a bit weird. Antonio wasn't the type to be outright mean but he tried his best to avoid Michael.

“Sorry Mike,” Ned walked over to Antonio “Me and Tony are gonna—”

“Everyone we are now in lock-down! I repeat this is not a drill. Teachers please lock your doors!”

They announced over the School’s Intercom system.

The teacher went over and locked both doors to the classroom.

“What’s going on?”

“Hey isn't lock-down only when a dangerous person is on school grounds?”

“What if it’s another school shooting?”

“Class remember the drill please stay quiet and get under your desks!” commanded the teacher.

Everyone did as they were told except for the sick girl who was still seated in her chair.

“Laisha! Get under your desk!”

Laisha didn't move and continued to sit there motionless.

“Girl are you alright?” asked one of her friends while putting her hand on Laisha’s forearm.

“AH!” Screamed the girl as Laisha bit her arm. The teacher rushed over but he too was suddenly attacked by Laisha.

The students panicked, some ran and others stood in fear while Laisha laid waste to those closest to her. Fear overran their minds as Antonio and a few other students watched Laisha approach Michael.

The Feral Laisha moved towards the shaking Michael. Piss ran down Michael’s leg as he stood there ready to be killed but before Laisha could attack him a desk hit her in the face.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

“RUN!”

Antonio turned towards Ned whose desk was missing.

“Tony let’s go!” Ned grabbed and pulled Tony.

Screaming and running. Complete chaos. Ned kept pulling tony’s shirt with tony just running and Ned leading him.

Most of the students stopped and were pounding on the doors of the classrooms next door asking for help. Ned however continued to run together with David, Michael, Tony and a few others.

They ran down the stairs and encounter another feral person at the bottom. The feral was suddenly drop kicked by a big youth.

“Ramiro!” Ned screamed

“This way!”

Ramiro used to be captain of the wrestling club until he quit to start training his mix martial arts as it was his dream to join the UFC. A heavyweight Mixed martial artists was now following the group of students led by Ned Stark.

Chaotically, students ran every way no one paying attention to the instructions over the school’s intercom system.

“Everyone into the Teacher’s Lounge!” screamed Ned as he held the door to the teacher’s lounge open.

Antonio noticed that other students had heard Ned and were now heading inside the lounge. A crowd of students ran into the lounge. Everyone sat down inside and Ned closed the door and locked it.

“Why'd you lock it?” asked a student of Filipino ancestry.

THUD!

Someone started banging on the door.

“Let me in!”

Nobody moved except for Michael who moved to open the door.

“Don’t.” Ned blocked Michael with his hand.

“Please open this door!” screamed the student outside the door.

“Why not?” asked Michael

Ned simply looked at the door. There was a small window on the door.

The student outside was suddenly tackled and screams were heard. Ned crouched next to the door and covered the window slit with his backpack with one hand and put a finger to his lips signaling everyone else to be quiet.

“AH!HELP!”

“Hey you.” Ned whispered towards the Filipino student.

“My name is Rei.” he responded

“Rei get me some tape and paper to block the window.”

Together Rei and Ned covered the window slit with paper and tape over the sounds of chaos.

Ned sighed and sat down next to the door.

“Someone call the emergency services.”

“Yeah call 911.”

“No one’s picking up.”

“The lines busy!”

“Mom I’m alright what about you?”

“Dad please come get me.”

“Everyone shut up. We have to stay quiet.”

“Were gonna get out of here and go with our parents.Who wants to go?”

A group of students had decided to try and make it out of the school.

“Guys I think it’s better if we just wait here for help.” Ned tried to persuade them.

“No I called my dad he says everything's fine in the city.”

“Fine I’m gonna open this door and I want you guys to run out of here.”

The group of students who decided to run away nodded.

“On the count of three...One..two..Three!”

Ned opened the door. The students ran outside and when the last of them stepped out of that door Ned closed it again.

They left and Antonio continued to think maybe he’d should go with them.

Antonio looked around the room at the people who decided to stay.. Most of the people in here he had never met except for one girl. Oh yes who didn't know one of the school’s hottest girls Haley. She was covering her ears and mumbling while rocking back and forth.

Everyone including himself was doing the same thing. The screams of the tortured; this was how he imagined hell sounded like.

Ned walked towards the crying school Idol.

“You have an IPod?”

She looked up at him.

“I suggest you all put in your headphones and start listening to some music high enough to drown out the screams.” Ned addressed everyone.

Everyone did except for Antonio. He was a straight A student he didn’t need music in class.

“Hey no Headphones?” Ned asked him

“No electronics. They’re banned in school.”

Ned smiled and reached into his pocket.

“Here I just downloaded the newest album of Imagine Reptiles.”

Antonio took the Music player

“What about you?”

“I’m fine.”

Antonio closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on the music. He raised the volume up even though it was loud but it was better than listening to the screams.
