Chaptet 2- learning and leaving humanity by mistake

17 days have passed since that announcement and I was getting used to my life here.

Learned a few new things about this world. Although I hated agreeing with my old man he was right when he said that whenever you need some info turn your head to a related book. I will never forgive him for his Spartan teaching methods which give me nightmares to this day. One thing I am grateful for though is that it ingrained the need to learn and excel in me.

One of the most useful books I got from my uncle was one about general trivia. From it the most useful thing learned is how the stats, skills and exp worked.

Exp upgraded your base stats only if you trained them, essentially exp is used to increase you parameters after training in a respective stat. So no matter how much you trained unless there was stored exp your stats would never increase. In retrospect if you gained a lot of exp but never trained your stats would still never get better. There was three ways of gaining exp: sleeping, eating and killing. The last one is a bit harsh but is the most efficient way to earn exp and I would have to learn to kill if I wanted to reach my goal. The thought alone gave me a sense of nausea.

Skills were much more diverse, different skills had different requirements. Some just needed diligent training, some required specific actions or situations, and some required ingestion of certain foods and so on. However one could not increase skill level with exp.

This made me realize how broken my skill status arrangement coupled with exp boost x4 really is. It not only allowed me to freely add stat points using experience, it also allowed me to increase skill level with the experience. What takes someone decades of training I could learn within a day provided I had enough exp.

Magic was the next thing I put priority in and I was not disappointed in what I learned, the magic in this world was vast beyond measure. Beyond the seven attribute based magic, people learned to use it to make their life better. Magic was this world’s technology. There are many magic variants of the gadgets, machines and other stuffs available in our world.

The only thing that was a bit weird for me is the culture. It is a mix of modern and ancient. There are many modern aspects to it like the school system, public welfare and so on. But there are also many that were outdated ownership of people being the most glaring one, though I was not complaining as it would make finding loyal companions easier.

A very fantasy esque feature of this world was that there were multiple races. Although I did not learn much about them I got basic idea about them. The ones that were on friendly terms with humans were the dwarves and demons. The ones that were hostile were the beastmen, elves and fairies. This was due to a long standing war between the six races. The reason for the war was due to a clash between nature and industrialization. The elves, fairies and beastmen wanted growth of nature whilst humans, dwarves and demons wanted industry. The war would still be blazing and would not be a ceasefire if not for the fact that our war irritated dragons. They are few but beyond insanely strong and they brokered a ceasefire by separating us to two different continents.

In this continent the most powerful beings were not the kings, the most powerful beings in this continent were the five great guilds. They were the adventurers’ guild which was the pretty standard fantasy guild, then there was the merchant guild which was involved in every trade deal imaginable, the warrior’s guild which was essentially the guild the king would get their soldiers from, the mage guild which was equivalent to today’s science community and finally the craftsman guild from where all our builders and artisans came. The academy I was going is one of the few that is run in collaboration with all five organizations.

That pretty much summarizes what I learned up to now.

I had become a great deal stronger. I found out that it is general knowledge that aristocrats are stronger than the common man. This is mainly because of how luxurious and exp rich our food stuffs are, even more so for a family so high in the social ladder such as mine. It was embarrassing to say that I am strong because I ate a lot of good food. Although eating too much does run the risk of becoming fat my status arrangement negates that factor.

Right now my stats were something like this

(I really want to dig a hole and bury myself in it. I always knew that I was a bit of a siscon but it did not need to be displayed like this.)

Other than that unnecessary title, I really fucked up right off the bat. I got about 1000 exp a day after the extra steal from the kitchen and if you added the 4X boost, I had a lot of exp to play with. I messed around with my stats to see the effects. Most of them were pretty apparent and some a little vague. The one stat I understood too late was the spirit power stat. At first I increased it a great deal because it was the second cheapest stat to increase next to mana and I got epic skills from it. Later I found out that the spirit power stat was the connection to the attribute itself. The stronger your connection the greater it could change you.

By giving it so much exp I unwittingly stepped away from the path of humanity and became a humanoid elemental. The process was irreversible so it was too late for regrets and I just had to roll with it. The reason I was not too worried other than a few added bonuses and a couple of restrictions I could still lead a human life. I upped most of my stats to level 5 because it made me feel like I put equal effort in everything, a habit of the past.

Although I was being a bit extravagant right now I have to be more careful about my exp expenditure in the future because I could not blindly master everything and had to choose what path I had to take in life.
