Chapter 35: Flood, new power

Chapter 35: Flood, new power

Oliver and Flood were sitting comfortably and looking at the passing scenery, after a few seconds Oliver looked at his hand, there sitting comfortably was a black leather bracelet with small silver knife on it.

This was his hunter license, they came in different forms and this is the one he chose.

His gaze changed between his hand, and the window, they havent travelled for long but he was starting to get bored.

After a few more minutes he turned his head to the blue haired beauty sitting next to him, currently her gaze was focused on the book in her hands, she gave of an unrealistic feeling of a scholar reading a new formula, which was entrancing.

But that feeling would quickly disappear once you read the title of her book on which, “Pirates and Priest, why your child should know how to fight was written” was written.

“You know, your expression is very wrong for someone who is reading comedy, right” Oliver slightly shook his head.

…after not receiving an answer, he let out a small sight.

This was not the first time this happened.

Actually after his fight with the Warsher, which officially made him silver ranked hunter, and receiving more than enough money to live comfortably for a few months this was a common occurrence, he had really underestimated how much this god loves books, while reading she would be so immersed that she would usually completely ignore him, until he pushed her a bit to grab her attention.

What he found interesting however was that, every time she read a book her expression would be quite strange, she would sometimes read a horror while laughing, adventures while looking bored out of her mind but still doing it, or comedy like now, looking like she is studying the secrets of life, now he even doubted that while they were in the sea-people kingdom she entered the royal library mainly to find info, but instead she just wanted to read an interesting books.

Thinking about it he pushed his hands up like he was giving up, and nudged her a bit with his elbow.

Feeling the push Flood turned to look at him.

Oliver”how much till we get there, this is getting really boring”.

Flood looked at him strangely [Are you a child, it hasn’t even been twenty minutes yet, and I recommended you to take a book to keep you busy]

Oliver nodded “yeas you did, but it wasn’t good, also this doesn’t answer the question”

Flood shook her head “we still got more than two hours, after all we are going quite far”

Saying this Flood resumed her reading activity.

Oliver didn’t say anything, he had thought about taking a book, but he honestly couldn’t find anything interesting to read, he usually liked fantasy, but now he was quite literally in a fantasy world, and as for the fantasy of this world, well it was nothing much, it looked more like sci fy to him, but considering that they could see a fucking flaying lizard with a chicken head, body looking like a dog, and lower legs of a goat and named it “Shizas” he could guess that normal persons imagination couldn’t really out-do what was “normal” here, as for the suggestions of Flood for books ... they sucked, he didn’t know what the reason was, but their interests were very different.

So thinking what he could do while waiting, he stretched his hand and water started to gather in his palm, after which he started to pla …train with it, it took different forms and shapes, it got bigger or smaller, it spun or got up and down, it was like clay in his hands.

After his near dead experience for which he got quite a bit of scolding from Flood he started to get control of his power.

For the record he didn’t even know why Flood was scolding him since she should have known that he came here to fight, not on a sightseeing but he couldn’t rebute her cause she was right, he had really miscalculated before the fight, and nearly got himself killed few days after coming, he wouldn’t do it again.

Well whatever, its not like he actually died, and it was exiting as hell, the taste of that fish was good as well and whats most important, he got a bit of hang of his abilities, from nearly dieing he unlocked three abilities excluding the water control he just used.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

The first one being water-saw, it gathers a line of water around the edge of his Halberd, and makes it become basically a chainsaw, with time its speed increases, making it stronger the longer the fight goes on.

The second special ability is warriors will, the more damage he takes the stronger his body grows his power and speed increases, his bones and skin become tougher or simply said his power grows, basic over all buff.

And lastly, one which he cant control, Lifeline, he didn’t know much about other special abilities but this one was overpowered in his opinion.

After his hearth stopes the special ability activates, it gathers water from around him and transforms it into his body, it sounds simple but it’s a battle changer.

A missing leg no problem, cut hand pfff here is a new one, but the most broken part is that this ability lasts while he has god power, making him basically unkillable while its activated and he can use his other abilities during it as well.

This was the ability which saved him from dieing in the Warsher as well, without unlocking it, he would have been … R.I.P.

With those abilities it wouldn’t be exaggerated to say that he was almost perfect warrior in prolonged fights.

When he told Flood about his abilities after she ended her nagging, all she said was that he really was a fighting fanatic, when he asked her why, she didn’t explain since she was pissed at him.

Oliver however didn’t grow overconfident, after the fight with the wale there was no way he would, overconfidence in this world would lead to dead.

His abilities were strong, but they weren’t all powerful they all had weaknesses, water-saw needed time to get really strong, at the begging even if it was a bit powerful it was nothing much, the second was the worst from the three, he needed to take damage for it to be useful, and as for the last one as powerful as it was the downside was there as well.

It was a passive ability, meaning he couldn’t control it, it only activated when he died so to say, and it couldn’t stay active for long as it drained god power, his current limit was 4- 5 seconds, but considering this is if he used all his god power, which would be impossible to happen in a real situation, since he used it to fight, 3 seconds was a best case scenario.

Well not needing to activate it was advantage and disadvantage at the same time, since he wouldn’t be able to activate it if he was dead, and that was when this ability was most useful.

From looking at his abilities, his strength became obvious, in a prolonged fight he would only get stronger and stronger, that was where his power lied, the weakness however was obvious as well, he needed time to get strong, so against people like assassin he would be weak.

Worse would be a long range assassin, since with lifeline even if he was killed he wouldn’t die immediately, but 3 seconds for prepared person was nothing, the assassin just needed to hide for a bit and attack again when the skill duration ended and he was done.

Now that he thought about it, the moment he met good assassin who knew his abilities and was aiming for him was probably the day he would die.

Oliver chuckled a littler, it was quite ironic.

But well fuck that, if he died he died, he had killed quite a few people and other stuff as well, so in a certain sense it would be his justified end.

Not thinking about it anymore, Oliver repeated the names of his abilities in his mind, he felt quite proud of his naming sense, obviously abilities didn’t come with their own names, he just knew what they did, Watersaw, Warriors will, Lifeline simple and cool, he patted himself on the back, when he read fantasy back on earth and saw attack named “god fist: dragon bite”,” nova ultimate destruction”, or something even longer like ’ultimate fist technique: thirty-seven punches of the sky severing immortal”, all he could do was cringe and think whether the authors were using some random generator to name things and the generator just happened to be high, for a certain second he even thought about naming his attack “flower hit”, just cause he wanted to fight someone and win against his ”ultimate dragon fist: void atomic destruction” with a technique named “flower hit”, just imagining the face of his opponent in such situation made him laugh inside.

Ending his thoughts here, he once again pushed Flood to ask for the time, in his boredom pestering her a bit was a distraction.

Receiving her answer with a glare for again interrupting her favorite activity he decided not to do it again, after all he didn’t know where her line is so for the most part he didn’t want to make her angry.

It seemed that only 15 minutes have passed since the last time he asked, so he let out a sight and once again resumed playi…training with his water power.

Oliver mumbled ”I really want to fight something, haaaa ”

Letting a small sight he decided to wait patiently until they arrived, .. how much was possible for him, that is.

He really couldn’t wait to arrive at the next city “Ant”, it was located in the kingdom of insectoids, half human-half insects, a whole new species for him, and whats more there was a special monster he wanted to fight not far from the city which could be found in a few places, a minotaur.

Now some people would wonder why not dragon, wyvern , or Hydra, but a bodybuilder with a cow head.

And his answer would be “cause I am not suicidal ” after fighting the big fish he now had a better understanding of his strength.

At the fight in the prison he was just glad he didn’t need to fight the Deths or he was now sure he would have died, and fighting a dragon, or any creature of this kind with his current abilities was the same as playing Russian roulette with a fully loaded gun.

So from the things which he wanted to fight, and could fight, Minataur was the easiest to find so here they were.

After an hour, they arrived, exiting Oliver eyes opened wide taking in the view

Oliver{…is this really a city.}

Before him a huge forest slowly shook its leaves, like it was smiling at them saying.

“Welcome”
