~ Homu Village, Outskirts of the Magire Kingdom
After what it feels like hours of non-ending dusk, the suns had finally began to disappear off in the horizon, in beautiful sunsets one after another.
“Come inside, don’t just stand out there.”, Grandma went inside the house, as lights in the yard and house starts to turn on as she walks along, illuminating the now dark place.
It was a little larger than a small villa, made looking like a cozy little stylish cottage. It was outside the main area of the small peaceful village in the plains, just on top of a small hill touching the cliff into a large river around a hundred metres below. Of course, complete with a large apple tree, covering the yard with its shade during the day. How could I ask for more?
I followed her inside her humble abode, as she went upstairs. I looked around, curious about this little house and its inhabitant, or used to be, inhabitants.
There were only formal family portraits of grandma, her husband and her children, which she can be seen to be quite young. Those must have been painted a long time ago.
It was a simple house, not much decorations, but it doesn’t need any to show off its coziness and humbleness. A warm fireplace just at the living room, which was the first room you see when you come into the house. A kitchen on the right of the living room separated by a counter, with rather strange looking magical artifacts and machines I assume is for cooking.
“Your room is upstairs, the first room on the right. Used to be where my granddaughter Azriel used to stay. The room beside is Ariel’s, her twin sister, and the room opposite is Azrael’s room, just don’t touch his room. He doesn’t like it.”, Grandma said as she walked down the stairs.
I went upstairs and went for the room as Grandma said, which had the name “Azriel” crudely carved onto the door. This is the first time I’ve been in a girl’s room… according to mangas and anime, I should be feeling some strange sentimental feeling of the girl that lived in this room, although it felt like… the feeling had long been lost. The room was sparkly clean, although there were a specks of dust floating around, showing that the room had only be cleaned recently. There were a few carvings on the wooden walls, but time had weared it smooth on the edges. The moonlight shone through the lonely window in the small yet comfortable room, onto the table and floor.
I didn’t have anything with me to unpack anyway, so I just sat down on the chair and looked over the window to see the beautiful backyard of plains that seem to stretch forever, only to be stopped by icy mountains that could barely be seen in the distance, softly illuminated by the moonlight.
“Earth, it’s time for dinner!”
I headed back down, only to be assaulted by spicy flavours that tickled my nostrils and stomach. Is… is this curry? I saw the table laid out with one simple pot of red-like substance with different ingredients floating inside. On the table are two rice bowls filled with the same type of rice as that of the one I ate in the restaurant.
“This is kurry, my grandchildren loved them, and it’s my best dish. Made it less spicy, I don’t know if you would be able to take the original.”, Grandma giggled.
I took the ladle and scooped one large portion of kurry with a ‘k’, and filled up my bowl. As expected, the rice started to absorb the curry, becoming small balls of curry-filled rice. I scooped them up and ate the whole thing up. The curry literally exploded in my mouth, filling my whole mouth with deliciously spicy kurry, which slowly slid through my throat, though it didn’t give a stinging feeling like I would expect it to. The spicy taste on my tongue was extremely addicting, I didn’t know I had liked spicy food this much. The feeling of the heat and taste and effects of the different spices made my blood rush, making my face red.
Though that blood rush was probably not the best thing in the world… my body quickly adapted to the hot spices, and they no longer taste as spicy as before. The kurry now tasted mildly spicy, no longer giving me the blood rush and exhilaration. This is the bad side of the gene engineering to adapt to any extreme conditions, I surely didn’t account spicy foods into my calculations.

“Spicier next time”, I said with a smile as I handed her the clean, empty bowl. It was so good even if it was mildly spicy that I had licked the whole bowl clean. I admit it’s not a sightly action, but hey, there’s nobody else except grandma here anyway.
“Mmm, I didn’t expect you to be able to take it that well, looks like I’ve gotta go harsher next time. It’s still early into the night, why don’t we tell each other about ourselves. We’ve got to know each other better now, nothing to hide. I’ll start first.”, She scooped more rice onto the bowl before handing it back to me.
Grandma told me about her three grandchildren. All three had black hair, just like her. She had a daughter, who died shortly just a few years after she gave birth to Azrael, who was born just a year after Azriel and Ariel. The three naturally have great affinity with magic, as with their parents and grandmother, so much so that they were even searched out by the three most prestigious magic high schools in the capital. Well, there are only three high schools in the capital anyway, but they are all prestigious and powerful, not losing to the other schools in Terminus. And even before they finished high school, they were again searched out by the most prestigious universities in Terminus, which they accepted. They had to travel far away from the capital to their university, and that was when they were thirteen and fourteen years old. Apparently high schools starts at the age of ten for four years, which is continued by university at the early age of fifteen. It’s early, but it seems like magic influence in the world had made children’s minds develop faster that what we compare to as normal. Even so, it appears that the three grandchildren are geniuses even compared in this world. Interesting.
Now, three years after they left, grandma was left all alone and decided to go on a little job to ease her boredom (and sadness, she didn’t admit it). On this fateful job was when she found me, in that lousy pit trap. It was rare that anybody had black hair, as long, shiny, and smooth as mine, so she was shocked. Not that black hair meant anything in particular, it was just that it was quite rare to have people have it in such purity. I can kind of understand her, being left alone for a *long* time. I’ve gone over it in my case, I had a few thousand years to think about it after all.
Hope Ares and Aphro are doing well out there in Andromeda. I wonder if they’re still alive, time is relative, so a few thousand years to me may just be a few days to them. Hahahaa...
“Well, I know you aren’t just a slave. To have that kind of hair and be slaved? The slavers would be personally slaughtered by the Zekiel King, that disgusting bastard is known to have an entourage of black haired ‘servants’, and none of them could ever escape his grasp. His power and strength is nothing to scoff at, there is a reason he is the king of that despicable empire. Don’t worry, I will keep everything a secret. Tell me everything about yourself.”, Grandma questioned me with a hint of curiousness in her eyes.
I could see in her eyes that she wasn’t lying, but not that it matters to me if she told people about me anyway. The slave background I’ve created for myself just makes things more convenient, I wouldn’t want to keep telling everybody I’m a six thousand, six hundred and sixty-six year old virgin. Who had come from who-knows-where, when his family left him three thousand years ago. Not that anybody would truly believe this absurd story anyway.
I told her the summary of everything, from top to bottom. I can’t exactly tell her everything that has happened for the thousands of years right? She took it in well, though she did have a little bit of disbelief showing through her face, but overall she was shocked, a little.
“Your family must be doing well wherever they are, guess you had it worse than me, hahahaha!”, Grandma laughed it off, showing relief in her voice. “But now you’re my grandson, I don’t care if you’re six thousand year old or whatever.”
I smiled at her, even though I expected something similar to happen, it still warmed my heart. Had been a long time since I last felt that, haven’t I?
“Just look at the time now, we have been talking for a long time, time for you to tuck in and sleep.”
She brought me back to my room and tucked me into my bed, before closing the door again and going back downstairs to clean the plates.
The first night of sleeping, I was excited for the next day, but I was feeling something that my mind labeled as tired. I close my eyes, entering sleep mode.
