*PSSssssss*
“Aaaggghh”, I yawned as I stretched my hands outwards. This cryogenic sleep, or I like to better call it, hibernation, probably took quite a while. Looks like it was quite the peaceful landing we made, landing in a forest, no skid marks, nothing. I’ve gotta thank the landing system for that, and thank myself for creating such a wonderful system.
My body is heated back to normal temperatures, and this time injected with headache medication. Much better.
I then stopped to think for a bit here. I landed in a beautiful lush forest. Gravity seems to be the same as on Earth, the sunlight is perfect, just like on Earth. If it wasn’t for the two bright stars in the sky, I would have thought I landed back on Earth. The atmosphere had kind of a refreshing feeling, I don’t know why.
“Hey brother, give me a report.”, I giggled at the nickname I gave for the pod.
“K-66-66 planet - Habitability, ninety-nine point nine eight per cent. Four hundred days for a complete orbit and twenty-five hours for a complete rotation around its axis. Life signs, abundant. Intelligent life apparent. Size of planet, two times of Earth. Scans indicate there are two prominent continents on the planet. One large diamond-shaped continent, reaching both north and south poles, segmented by *many* rivers of different sizes. Another continent, beside the main continent, is attached to the north pole. It is approximately a quarter the size of the main continent. We have landed on the east end of the main continent. Report End.”, the pod reported, ignoring my joke.
I nod. Looks like this planet is very similar to Earth, and have four times as much surface area as Earth. What luck do I have?
“Brother, activate cloaking sequence.”, I giggled at the command again.
The pod quickly digs a hole down, burying itself completely in a few minutes, while leaving a small flag that is around my height. It waved proudly in the air, showing a picture of Earth along with [Dream Lab] and a logo of the lab. It is just then the chilly breeze was blowing and I got a little cold. My body somehow quickly adapted to this and it was no longer cold.
“Ahh…” I laid on the ground, staring up at the etheral blue sky, while quietly celebrating in my head. To be honest, the journey felt a little anti-climatic, probably because I was in hibernation mode. Who knows how much time went past during my sleep, time is relative after all. The lush and soft grass on my back felt cool to the touch and very comfortable, but it is time to adventure!
I said adventure but I honestly have no idea where to start. Hmm well let’s make sure I can survive first.
Looking around, I don’t think I saw any predators of sorts, just some oversized clawed rabid rabbits in the distance, and wild plants growing everywhere as if they didn’t care at all. There seems to be a cliff not far from here, I’ll check that out first.
Walking through the forest, the refreshing feeling I felt in the atmosphere brushed through me as if it was a breeze, although there really isn’t any breeze at all. “Hmm strange… what is this feeling, it doesn’t feel like wind, but it tingles my skins a little bit.”, I contemplated.
As I reached the cliff, the surrounding trees eventually cleared up, and I could see a huge cliff also on the other side, and what seems to be a river a hundred metres to the bottom, flowing to the left into the sea. Looks like this is one of the great rivers that the pod has told me about. The opposite side, also a forest, has a beautiful amber colour to it, as if it was in autumn. Truly a breathtaking sight, not to mention the morning mist just completes the picture. The chilly temperature makes just the perfect mood to view this scenery. Ice mountains can be seen distances away, standing tall and proud as far as my eyes can see.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The suns are still at the horizon, so it seems like it’s still morning. I moved back into the verdant forest, thinking about the report. “Intelligent life apparent, it said.”, I mumbled, hopefully the pod didn’t include me in it hahaha… well probably not, so maybe there are people here? What are the chances? I kept moving through the forest, examining some of these exquisite wild plants and undergrowth…
*Boof*
I fell into a large pit trap that was so obvious that anyone paying attention could avoid it. Well, not me. There seems to be a purple gas inside… is it POISON? But it smells so good… makes me sleepy…… *yawn*...
…
“- I told you that the trap works!”
“No, no it doesn’t! It was so plainly obvious and lousily constructed!”
“Then what is this! Clearly we caught something! The trap works!”
“We are trying to catch our lunch, not somebody! And we just wasted a flask of sleeping gas! Do you know how much that costs?”
“Uuggg…”
“You two stop quarreling. The boy is waking up.”
I opened my eyes wide. The world is on my left side. Apparently I can understand them. Wait am I tied up on a skewer? AM I GETTING EATEN?
The three humans looked at me. Looks like I shouted that last line out loud. Whoops!
“No… we are not eating you…”, the female knight replied softly. She seems to be wearing light leather armour, slightly revealing I might add. The iron armour set beside her is a dead giveaway, but her choice of twin broadswords does seem peculiar to me. Her armour is filled with scars and scratches, showing her experience in battles. Looking back at her, she does have a beautiful face and a blonde hair with curls at the end, probably in her twenties. Her slender, yet well-built body just completes the picture. A notable figure, I say.
“Maybe you are because I caught you, and we have got no food left…”, the male healer replied with a tired voice. Looks like he had admitted his trap is bad… bad enough that only I will fall into it. He has a pretty face, though not as good as mine. Short brown hair, and a light chainmail armour covers his body, a rather muscular body, which doesn’t match with his face and profession. The cross on his chest and the cross-shaped staff lying on the rock beside him just gives it away.
Wait - a healer. Does this mean THIS WORLD HAS MAGIC?
“Yes… and do you not know that boy? Where are you from?”, the old woman sitting on the rock behind the two asked. Welp, I did it again. A small old woman with black and purple witch-like clothing and a wizard hat, not to forget a classic wooden staff with a gem at the tip. A mage. “A. MAGE. MAGIC!”, I screamed internally, bursting with excitement. I have always seen these concepts of magic in rpg games back on Earth but I have always wanted to try it myself!
My mind ran through all types of memories of these games a few thousand years ago, and I imagined what I could do with magic in the real world! This is literal dream come true! Well, the second dream come true, but who cares now. It’s magic!
“Erm… boy? Are you alright?”, the female knight asked, and I just realized I have been squirming about on the skewer. I immediately stopped this awkward action.
“Yes, I am. Please forgive my previous actions, I was just shocked about my predicament. And may I ask you to release me from this bind? Thank you.”, I tried to be as polite as I can. Building a good image in my new life is important.
The old woman flicked her hand and the bounds disappeared. I didn’t expected the bounds to just disappear, but my millisecond response time allowed me to quickly turn my body and fall perfectly on the ground with both legs, like an acrobat. Looks like that lousy pit trap made my body force itself to increase the response speed. I nod internally at my own creation again.
“Ahem. This is our party, this knight over here is Ceris, that priest is Jax and I am Marelin, just call me Mare will do.”, the old woman *ahem* Mare introduced the party to me. Looks like one of those standard parties in those mmorpgs, ignoring the strange choice of profession for the priest, or Jax, as Mare said.
“I am Earth.”, I replied, feeling compelled to introduce myself.
Looks like this adventure of mine is going places.
