Chapter 3: Reunion

Chapter 3: Reunion

Two men in robes and hoods covering their faces were walking around the neighborhood.

"Is this the house?" The skinny guy asked.

The muscular bald man answered: "Seems like it. I'll set up the bomb, stay back."

He walked up to the house and put his backpack next to a wall.

He then ran towards the skinny guy and took out a remote from his pocket, "On 3 I'll set it off and we'll run to the woods."

He started, "1... 2... 3-"

The explosion went off slightly before he anticipated but it worked nonetheless.

They both ran to the woods, while they were running, the skinny guy took out his phone and called their boss.

"The mission has been completed." He said.

On the other side, their boss replied: "I expected nothing less of you guys. Come to the address I'll send you soon to pick up the reward."

He then received a notification with the address. "Let's go there." The skinny guy said.

They took a longer path, walking in the forest and then coming out of it after a few kilometers so no one could see them.

They arrived at the location and picked up their reward.

Yamikuro felt a tap on his shoulder, it caught him so off guard that he turned his head towards the person with genuine fear in his eyes.

To his surprise it was the bus driver who told him that the bus had reached the final stop and Yamikuro needed to get off. He looked around the bus and saw that it was completely empty.

Yamikuro felt like he just sat down, the time went by in almost an instant. Thinking about everything that happened made him lose awareness of the reality and he was staring out the window the entire bus ride.

The bus driver repeated himself again by saying: "You need to get off the bus, we've reached the final stop. Now quickly get home since it's really late, kid"

Yamikuro stood up when he suddenly started feeling light headed and almost fell back down on his seat but he just kept walking since the bus driver seemed pissed off at him and he didn't want to risk what would've happened if he sat back down.

Yamikuro then stepped out of the bus and felt a cold breeze on his face. It was all dark and foggy with no street lights visible or any possible houses with lights still on, he didn't have any idea where could've even ended up since he wasn't paying attention at all the entire bus ride.

He decided to just keep walking ahead to see where he would end up. Luckily for him the rain had stopped and it wasn't that cold where he would've needed a jacket. Yamikuro kept walking straight, hoping to find a place to stay.

He didn't know how long he had walked but his legs were already starting to get tired, and the fog got thicker than before. Yamikuro's eyes started to get heavier with each passing second, his entire body was shivering and he felt like he could pass out at any moment.

But then to his surprise he saw a house not too far away with the lights still on.

At first he didn't react to it since he was half asleep walking down a dark road but after processing what he saw he woke up and started running through the wheat farm to get there.

He was getting hit in the face continuously with the crops that have been planted there and stomping all over them but he didn't care. He just wanted to reach that house, deep down he was scared of who might be living here but at the same time he felt completely hopeless so no matter what happened, he would have accepted it.

After running through the crops he reached a pathway that led to the house. Without hesitation Yamikuro started walking down the pathway but then he heard something move in the crops right next to him, he had to reach the house no matter what so instead of backing off he started walking faster.

Then that sound came from the other side of the pathway. Before he knew it something jumped out of it towards Yamikuro.

Unconsciously he dodged the thing that came out of the wheat, Yamikuro didn't even realize it himself but then two more jumped out of there but this time on the other side of the pathway and Yamikuro dodged them yet again but this time he realized he didn't do it on his own.

It was a weird feeling but it also felt exciting to be able to dodge those things without even being able to react to it.

Yamikuro turned around to see what jumped out there and when he did his whole body was suddenly frozen, the shivering that had bothered him the entire time disappeared in an instant. In Front of him stood three wolves that had just attacked him.

Then a few more came out of there and they all circled Yamikuro. The pathway was wide enough for them to circle him and attack Yamikuro.

The wolves were growling and they were ready to kill him, one of them jumped towards Yamikuro once again to get him down so the others could join it and feast on him.

Yamikuro on the other hand was still in shock, he didn't know how to react to it. Should he run or will he be able to dodge their attacks subconsciously?

When Yamikuro saw the wolf that had leaped into the air, he didn't feel that same feeling he did before when he was dodging their attacks. Yamikuro thought it would be the end for him, this was where his story would also end, and he would be able to join his parents.

He closed his eyes ready to accept defeat but he heard the wolf fall down before even reaching Yamikuro and it started crying for help. When Yamikuro opened his eyes he saw the wolf caught on fire somehow. There was nothing that would make the wolf catch on fire.

"Did I do it?" He said to himself.

But at the same time he thought that it couldn't be possible, he's never seen something like this.

He looked around to see that the other wolves started to get scared and then suddenly a fire started right in front of his eyes that scared off the rest of the wolves.

Looking at the fire he knows he couldn't have done it. It must've been someone else that did it. He looked towards the house to see that the lights were now off which for a second made Yamikuro feel hopeless but then he saw someone walking towards him.

It seemed to be an old man holding a lantern in his hands but on a closer look he had a fire burning on his hand that he used as a light source.

As the man was getting closer, Yamikuro took a deep breath and then yelled: "Did you do this?!"

The old man said in a voice that was loud enough for Yamikuro to hear it: "That's not what's important right now. What are you doing here late at night?"

Yamikuro was thinking of something to say but before he was able to, his thought process was cut off by the old man asking: "Are you Yamikuro by any chance?"

"Uh... Yes. How do you know my name?" He replied with a confused look.

The old man's face got serious, "So it happened. Yamikuro, you probably don't know me but I'm your great-uncle, my name's Bernardo"

Yamikuro was standing there yet again shocked like before staring at the old man who claimed to be his great-uncle walking towards him.

He then ignored the question and decided to follow it up by asking, "I've never heard of my great-uncle. Are you sure you've got the right person?"

After asking that Yamikuro was thinking of running away before that man could catch up to him but as he was going to do that, the old man answered as he stopped walking: "I see. Your dad has never brought me up then, I guess it was for the better. I know that it's a lot to take in but I need you to trust me."

"I want to trust you but I don't know how to also I just want water and a safe place to stay." Yamikuro replied.

"I'll help you with that. You'll never be able to return to your normal life again so this is a safe place to be for now. If you want I can show you our family photos, it's not much but it's all I have as proof." the old man replied.

Yamikuro's face got more serious: "I trust you."

"Great. I was afraid you wouldn't trust me and you'd run away getting caught by the government." Bernardo replied.

As they were walking towards the house, Yamikuro asked: "You mentioned that I can't return to my normal life, how did you know I have powers?"

Bernardo didn't say anything for a few seconds but then he sighed: "Someone informed me about this, but I can't tell you anything about it. You'll hopefully find out some day."

"What does that mean?" Yamikuro asked another question.

"Listen, I'll be able to help you use the darkness to your advantage but that's all I can do." Bernardo replied.

Yamikuro looked towards the house now, "So I'll be training to be able to use this darkness power thing?"

"Your power is called the darkness and it's more powerful than anything humankind has seen. I know how to help you control it so we'll get started tomorrow." Bernardo said in a serious voice.

They arrived at the old man's house. It was a one story building with three rooms and it had a massive garden.

When they stepped inside the house, the first room on their left was a bathroom. After Yamikuro put away his shoes he went through the small corridor that led to a kitchen on the left and on the right there were two doors that led to different rooms. On the right was the old man's room and on the left was the room Yamikuro was going to sleep in.

The old man gave Yamikuro some clean clothes since the clothes he had on before were not only dirty but also damaged. He then suggested they both went to bed to get as much sleep as possible before waking up tomorrow.

"Your enemies aren't only going to be the police so if you're able to use the darkness before others find out you have it, you won't be in as much risk as you are now." He said before leaving the room.

When Yamikuro laid on the bed he was too tired to think about the worries of the future and the depressing night he's had, he fell asleep almost instantly.
