Chapter 3 -  A goddamn tail

“Why the fuck am I Human? The weird ass stalker voice told me I would change didn’t it!?! Well, at least I’m used to having my body type, so I guess I just need to know how to fight.”

Vin looked around and realized he had spawned inside a forest. He was surrounded by oak trees and some types of plants that he did not know about, so he thought they were just some sort of alien plant species. Unfortunately for him though, he did not know if they were edible or not. As he was looking around he scratched his butt and screamed out of surprise.

“A TAIL? A GODDAMN TAIL?”

He started walking in circles so that he could take a better look of his newfound tail. It appeared to be fused between a lion’s and a tiger’s except that it was a lot longer. By itself it could easily reach 2 meters which Vin instantly thought could come in quite handy. He practiced moving the tail for a while and the feeling was just as moving the toes of his feet, except it was above his butt, of course.

Well, this might actually come quite handy, I can probably use this tail for long ranged combat if I just learn how to control it. 

He trained the movement on the same spot he had spawned out of fear that a predator might come and kill him straight from the start. It took no more than half an hour to fully master the movement of his extra limb and now Vin could actually bounce up to two meters from the ground.

Okay, it appears that this tail is stronger than it looks like, now let’s see if I can actually push myself using it

He grabbed the nearest branch with his tail and gripped it as tightly as he could. After making sure that the tail would not let go of the branch he relaxed all of his muscles, but the ones on the tail as he tried to perform a “tail pushup”. Unfortunately for him, however, as soon as he let his body go, he felt an uncontrollable pain right at the end of his spine (where the spine and tail connect) so he had to let go of the grip and fall to the ground, his body hitting the grass below him.

Okay, so my tail is connected directly to my spine… How dumb of me to expect something else. I guess I should’ve payed more attention in my Biology classes.

Vin got up and started to massage the joint between his two vertebra so that he could ease the pain a little. He also began to move around so he could limber up some more when a buzzing sound appeared around his neck.

"God, I hate mosquitoes” So he pummeled the insect into his neck.

In front of Vin suddenly appeared a neon blue text that stopped his thought:

Congratulations! You have slain an enemy champion! You can now choose whether to upgrade your current ability “Inspect” or to gain the ability “Fly”

“…. What?”

“ I said that you can upgrade your ability “Inspect” or you can gain “Fly”, dummy!”

“Wait, wait, wait a minute. That was an enemy champion? Why was he a mosquito?”

“That is classified information, dummy!”

“Can you just please, stop calling me dummy, you stupid… blue text, I guess? And can you please explain to me how can I use my ability? And of course I want to gain Fly!”

“Congratulations! You have learned the ability “Fly”. To use “Fly” simply name the ability and it will automatically be cast. Since fly is a continuous ability simply say “Fly” again to cancel.  Current abilities:

Inspect – Lvl.1

Fly – Lvl.1

“Oh I can see how this works. So this world is a PvP MMO. Well, good thing I wasted years playing games otherwise this would totally suck. Now let’s see – information “Inspect”!

Inspect – Lvl.1

By casting this single target ability you can preview the weakness of an enemy. If you cast it as a higher level you will be able to see more information about your foe.

Next level bonus: Enemy strengths

You have gained this ability as a result of your solitude and isolation. Since you’ve never really had any close friends you have learned to observe your surroundings carefully. You’ve become so proficient at observing your surroundings that you are able to know peoples desires just by looking.

“Ugh, thanks blue text... I guess. Now let’s see what you can say about flight. Information “Fly”!

Fly – Lvl.1

By casting this ability you will be able to summon mosquito wings that will allow you temporary flight. If you cast it as a higher level you will be able to summon better wings.

Current possible flight time: 10 minutes.

Wings cooldown: 8 hours

Next level bonus: Butterfly wings

You have gained this ability by killing a defenseless mosquito.

“Well, technically, the mosquito attacked me. Anyway, it seems that for now flight is useless and it would be good for me to save it up in case someone attacks me. As for “Inspect” it seems that I will have to use it to make combat easier. Hmm, with that in mind I wonder what it says about me.” 

Vin took a good look at his body. "Inspect!"

Name: Vin

Weakness:  Physical damage; Magical damage; Gummy bears; His sister; Math.

 “Oh wow, jeez, you don’t have to be such an asshole about it."

 So it appears that it also shows my name and not only physical weaknesses, it also shows emotional ones. This may come quite handy. And it seems to not have a cooldown so I may use it as I wish, which is quite a plus as well.

Vin looked around while the blue letters faded from his sight and it was getting dark.

it is noon. I should just find a place to hide, but first I might actually want to take a look around. 

"Fly!”

As he used his ability, his spine suddenly began to vibrate as two pairs of wings began emerging from his back. Vin felt the wings as they were a part of his own body since he was born. He took off his shirt so that he may actually control the wings. They appeared to be strongly attached to his back, just like his tail. He looked above and all he could see were branches with leaves.

“Ah fuck it, LETS DO THIS!”

Vin ducked with his legs and placed his tail on the ground so that it could give him a huge boost in the jump. He moved the wings a little bit so that they could limber up and prepared to jump. And then he stopped. Vin placed his hand in his pocket and took his phone out. The battery was sitting at 24% as he had played games all day at school. Never the less he opened his Music player, put on his headphones and played “Thousand Foot Krutch – Let the sparks fly”.

The music started playing, he took his position, prepared his tail, ducked and looked straight into the sky. His spine began to vibrate, the muscles on his feet and tail exploded with the burst of energy he put into the jump. The leaves and branches became bigger and bigger as everything next to them just blurred out.

Vin smiled for the first time since he had entered the portal.
