Vin felt like he had been dropped in an endless hole of darkness after he entered the portal. He was holding tight on his backpack with hopes that he would not lose his gummy bears. His headphones were tightly on his head so that he could listen to some nice and peaceful music. It was a while since his initial flight began and he had shifted through a few albums, now he was listening to “Disturbed – the sound of silence” which fitted the scenery quite well.

“How long will this fucked up dream even last…. Like come on, at least a few hours have passed and pinching myself apparently does not work. What if this really is not a dream and all of this is real?” Vin thought to himself but then suddenly started to laugh. “Nah, it would be really awesome if this was true but… life is not an anime where time suddenly stops and you enter a portal to an endless hole. If that were true then that would mean that I have left my mom and sis alone. Probably it is just one of those weird ass dreams that I get because I eat too much gummy bears (note: They are not only bears, they are also bananas, snakes, hearts and potatoes).”

Vin thought of his life – his friends, his family, his videogames. If all this were true… why did he enter the portal? Why didn’t he just live his life in a stopped timeframe, surely the time would start to tick back again… Wouldn’t it?

“Whatever, this is just a dream, it does not matter” he said to himself with great doubt.

*after some time*

Vin had fallen asleep with his hands holding tightly his bag when suddenly his fall began to slowly come to an end. His speed started dropping rapidly until he stopped moving which woke him up.

“Was I dreaming inside a dream? And why did I stop moving?”

“HELLO, VIN” (an echoing voice)

“Um… what? I didn’t hear that” Vin took off his headphones and put them on his neck.

“I SAID HELLO VIN”

“Hello voice, where the fuck am I and when the fuck can I finally wake up?”

“YOU ARE NOT IN A DREAM, VIN. THIS IS REAL, JUST AS YOU AND ME, JUST AS YOUR SISTER, JUST AS THOSE GUMMY BEARS IN YOUR BACKPACK. YOU ARE IN THE PLACE BETWEEN THE WORLDS, FOR NOW, VIN”

“So I am in Limbo? How the fuck I am alive then”

“DO NOT WORRY, VIN. THIS IS NOT LIMBO.  YOU ARE HERE JUST UNTIL I EXPLAIN YOUR SITUATION. YOU SEE, THERE ARE GODS IN THE WORLD, VIN. HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT THE GODS THAT YOU HUMANS BELIEVE IN. THEY ARE ENTITIES THAT LOOK OVER THE BALANCE OF EVERYTHING. HOWEVER VIN, EVEN THOSE “GODS” ARE NOT IMMORTAL. EVERY NOW AND THEN SOME OF THEM SEIZE TO EXIST, OR WHAT YOU CALL IT – THEY DIE. “

“And what does this has to do with me? I’m just a normal teenager, I have done nothing wrong. What would they want to do with me?”

“WELL, VIN, WHEN A “GOD” DIES SOMEONE NEW HAS TO TAKE THEIR PLACE. YOU SEE, VIN,THE UNIVERSE IS SEPARATED INTO DIFFERENT PARTS, WHAT YOU HUMANS CALL GALAXIES. A GROUP OF GODS WATCH OVER SAID GALAXY. FOR EXAMPLE – YOUR GALAXY IS BEING WATCHED CURRENTLY BY THREE GODS – VAH’LE , SINRET AND KHAÉL. WHEN A GOD DIES, THE GODS FROM EACH GALAXY CHOOSE TWO CHAMPIONS TO FIGHT FOR THEM AND PLACE THEM IN A WORLD WHERE THE LAST CHAMPION STANDING CAN BECOME A GOD HIMSELF. IF BY COINCIDENCE THE TWO LAST CHAMPIONS ARE OF THE SAME GALAXY, THEY WILL BOTH BECOME GODS.

“Okokok, stop here, voice. So you’re telling me that I have been chosen to become part of a bloodbath where if I win I become a god. What happens if I die?”

“YOU SEIZE TO EXIST, VIN”

“Oh, the guns and the katana? I just took them because I thought this is a dream and you know… I’ve always wanted to have a katana and a pistol for myself. In fact, I’ve been saving for a kata-“

“ANYWAY, LET ME CONTINUE EXPLAINING YOUR SITUATION, VIN. WHEN YOU ENTER THE BATTLEWORLD YOU WILL TRANSFORM. YOU MAY TRANSFORM TO A HUGE BEAST OR A SMALL BUG, DEPENDING ON YOUR PERSONALITY, SO YOU MAY WANT TO SAY GOODBAY TO YOUR CURRENT BODY. WHEN YOU START YOUR JOURNEY, YOU WILL GAIN A POWER. THAT POWER ALSO DEPENDS ON YOUR PERSONALITY. FURTHERMORE, VIN, FOR EACH OTHER CHAMPION THAT YOU KILL YOU CAN CHOOSE TO UPGRADE YOUR POWER OR TO ADD A NEW ONE TO YOUR ARSENAL. ULTIMATELY THE LAST ONE STANDING WILL BE THE ONE WHO HAS KILLED MOST CHAMPIONS. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?”

Vin stood up slowly, with a desperate look and with wattering eyes, even though he put all his strength to try and not look weak.

“You said, that from each galaxy there are two champions, what happens if I meet the other one? Will I be able to recognize him or her? And you said that we will populate a “Battleworld”. What will this world be like, will it have animals? And what about food? How can I feed myself?”

“WELL, VIN, IF YOU MEET THE OTHER CHAMPION OF YOUR GALAXY YOU WILL NOT KNOW WHERE HE IS UNTIL YOU KILL HIM, OR IF HE KILLS YOU, OFCOURSE. FURTHERMORE, VIN, THE BATTLEWORLD IS NOT POPULATED BY ANIMALS OTHER THAN CHAMPIONS. YOU WILL HAVE TO FEED FROM EITHER CHAMPIONS OR FROM PLANTS. WHAT YOU WOULD ALSO NEED TO KNOW IS THAT EACH SEVENTH DAY FROM THE START OF THE SELECTION NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO DIE. THAT MEANS THAT WHEN THE SUN SETS DOWN ON THE SIXTH DAY ALL OF YOUR ATTACKS TO AN ENEMY WILL DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING JUST AS THE ATTACKS FROM YOUR ENEMY WILL DO NOTHING TO YOU. IT IS CALLED “THE PEACE DAY”, VIN. NOW, VIN, ARE YOU READY TO BE TRANSPORTED?”

The ground beneath his feet started to shake and a white circle started to surround Vin. Suddenly, Vin felt quite dizzy as he could not contain all of the booze he had drunk, so he vomited and lost consciousness.

*Some time later*

Vin opened his eyes and heard the wind surrounding him as the leaves were rustling somewhere above. He enjoyed this moment. Then he remembered everything.

“OH SHITSHITSHIT, I am in the Battleworld fuckfuckfuuuuck!!!”

Vin stood up and looked at his body – two legs, two arms, he started touching his head – nothing abnormal.  He checked his pants – he still had his mini Vin there. Vin was still Human.
