A few days have passed since the party. I have been studying and experimenting with my magic. So far, I still can’t use real spells. I even have tried to edit in magic user into a skill. All I got was [Error: Not a recognized command]. Putting my magic into the shadows I notice something odd. The shadow moves. I blink as I keep pushing my mana to the shadow. A shadowy figure slowly rises out of the ground.

I stare at the thing as it moves closer. I stand tall and swallow nervously. The creature grins “More.” I blink and shift “More?” the thing nods as it stands there. I shift then realize what it might want. Mana. I push my magic to the creature. I watch as it grows a bit in size. The creature then moves, plunging into my body. I gasp, shocked then blink. The creature has vanished? I feel my chest burning a bit. I pull at my shirt collar and look at my chest. A purple tattoo is burned into my skin. I feel my hands burn with energy and a black flame flicks into my palm.

Did I just make a contract? When becoming a mage there are three ways to do so. Being born with magic, studying it or making a contract. If that shadow creature was a dark elemental, then I guess I did. But why can I make this black fire? Maybe it acts differently than regular fire. I can experiment with that later. Oh, maybe with a contract I can now add magic skills? Let’s try Magic Casting. [Skills Updated: Magic Casting Level 1] Ah ha! Nice. I look at the black flame in my hand and it forms more to my desires. Stronger. Eh?! We are Stronger. Wait… Are you the elemental I made a contract with? Yes. Wow okay.

This is awkward. How much can you hear? Most. Not all. Ah that’s interesting. Tell me then elemental, do you have a name? I have no name. Well, I have to call you something. Oh, I know! You are an elemental of darkness so Shade should do, right? Shade. I like it. Cool! Um well I am going to be thinking a lot so… I hope you don’t mind? I do not mind. I will listen. Hm. Anyways I got to think about what this means for my programming skill. Can I program skills into Shade? Or can I make him stronger? Wait, can I see his stats? Thinking hard about it, no clear menu opens up.

I wonder if I can do the same to get a light elemental contract? NO! Ow my head. No need to shout Shade. No light elementals. The light hurts. Ah that makes sense I guess. What about other elementals? Like fire or water? No fire, that produces light. I would be okay with a water elemental. I see, that seems to make sense. I will try dabbling with water magic I suppose. Maybe I won’t make a contract right away though. Don’t want too many voices in my head.

Five years have passed. I have trained myself so that I am ready for whatever comes. Contracting myself to a wind spirit I named Gale and a water spirit I named Lake. Gale speaks to me verbally as he takes the form of a bird. Lake speaks to my mind like Shade but her voice is softer. Thank you. Ah no problem Lake! Anyhow I have given myself some good magic casting skills to help me.

I think when the school year actually begins, I will be more than prepared. The only thing now I worry about is people seeing my contract tattoos. Having three contracts at once is not common. Most people make one contract and focus on one elemental. Luckily all three are on my torso and are easy to hide. Just like the old bruises I just have to wear long sleeves. I know that some elementals are not compatible with others. Like fire and nature don’t get along. But water and wind get along just fine. Considering storms, it makes a lot of sense. If we were to add another elemental, it would have to be a nature elemental of some kind. But I think three is more than enough for me.

I am also looking forward to experiencing what a noble high school is like. I just hope that I don't have to bring any servants. I know my father would ask I take Sarah. Speaking of her, I will look forward to leaving her behind! I mean it's good my stats have increased but yeesh. The way medieval maids treat me are harsh! I mean I was aware beating kids was the norm in the past. Just didn't think it would be in the game. Then again this is more like a living world so it's trying to be realistic? That or Astria just so happens to share the same ways of medieval times.
