CHAPTER SEVEN: REPORTING A MISSING MASTER

CHAPTER SEVEN: REPORTING A MISSING MASTER

In the local Police Station in late afternoon of the same day Story October and the group went missing. The building is clad in red bricks and on the corner of a small-town block. It looks like it was built about eighty years ago. Inside, the decorum is circa late 1970s, including fake wood paneling. The phone system hasn't been updated since the 1990s and the computers are at least five years old. Over head, the ceiling tiles are old and stained from various leaks over the years.

Claire walks up to the desk sergeant and says, “My name is Claire Oberhauser and I need to report an assault and a missing Master.”

Sergeant Lincoln looks up at her with a confused look and says, “Missing master? Just a second,” as he shakes his head, finishes chewing a bite of his sandwich and puts it down to type, “now what was your name again?”

Getting annoyed at the lack of immediate action, she says, “I said my name is Claire Oberhauser already, why don't you just listen?! I'm telling you; something is weird about that tall asshole at the cemetery... and, and he hit me for no reason, he's a fucking dick! You need to make an arrest and make him say what he did to my Master!” her voice is practically screeching.

Sergeant Lincoln just wants to finish his sandwich, he puts his hand to his face to rub his eyes with his forefinger and thumb, let's out a sigh and says, “Okay okay, slow down a minute... what cemetery, what tall guy and what the heck are you talking about with this master business? Is this some of that Fifteen Shades of Whatever stuff?”

“I think it was High-something Cemetery, I didn't really pay attention I was only concerned about following him and not letting him see me. H-he's not my Master yet but he should be, I think he'd be my Master if he knew how much I love him. He... he needs me, I know he does!” Claire blurts out and adds, “And also, it's fifty, not fifteen..." as she lets out a heavy sigh and slowly blinks at his lack of knowledge.

Sergeant Lincoln rolls his eyes, then sighs again and says, “Um, yeah okay, so who is he, this um master guy, or the would-be-master?”

“You don't know?! He's only the greatest occult expert in the World, he's Story October!” Says Claire in an excited, loud outdoor voice.

“So, this Story October, is that spelled like the month? Asks Sergeant Lincoln as he types on his computer keyboard.

Claire quickly replies, “Mhmm, isn't that cool?!”

“It's wonderful,” he replies in a monotone voice, then continues, “So this October guy assaulted you in a cemetery?”

“Oh my god, you're so stupid! No, it wasn't Story. It was that tall asshole, you stupid redneck small town, small-minded dimwit!” Claire yells at him.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

Getting irritated and annoyed, Sergeant Lincoln says, “Why you gotta get all personal and insulting, if you're gonna be like that, there's the door,” as he points to the exit.

She screeches and screams in frustration, then says, “I knew it! He's probably your inbred cousin or something!”

“Okay dammit! Would you kindly escort Crazy-Claire out of here, Rob,” gesturing to a Police Officer near them.

The Police Officer is a big fellow and well built, fresh out of the US Marines six months ago. He's poor on people skills but good for intimidation. He pushes her out the door as she screams and yells various profanities and makes a big scene. He says, “I'm sorry ma'am but you can't go back in, you're not welcome on the premises. If you try to enter, I'm going to have to arrest you for being a public nuisance,” as he holds the palm of his hand up as a warning.

She then says, “I'm going to sue you small-town bumpkins for everything you have for this... this... indignity but I doubt it's very much!” After that display, she angrily stomps off and gets back in her car and sulks. After a bit she starts to think of a plan, a plan that will show them who they are messing with.

Later in the evening Claire sits in her vehicle, watching as Sergeant Lincoln gets in his car that's parked in the Police Station parking lot. She waits for him to begin driving before starting up her car to follow him to his house.

It's mostly dark when the sergeant arrives at his house, there isn't anyone out on the streets, it's a quiet small-town neighborhood, a safe place to raise children. Rarely does anything happen here like in the big cities and it sure doesn't happen in this neighborhood, this is a safe place where you can trust your neighbors.

Sergeant Lincoln parks on the street in front of his house because there are too many cars already in his usual driveway parking spot. She parks a few cars back on the street, grabs the tire-iron on the floor next to her and exists her vehicle. Walking quickly and looking around, she walks up behind the sergeant as he gets out.

The sergeant sees a woman walking up but pays her no mind. He's too tired from a long day at work of dealing with people and hopes it's not one of his neighbors that wants to chat with him, he just wants to go in, eat dinner and watch the game. Acting like he doesn't see her; he turns his back to her hoping that will work well enough to get away with breaching neighborly etiquette.

Claire crashes the tire-iron down on the back of Sergeant Lincoln's head as she says, “That's for not helping my Master!” with vitriol and hatred in her voice. Then after a moment she snaps out of her enraged state, realizing that she had just struck a policeman as he collapses to the ground. All she can think of now is, “So much blood..."

She hurries back to her car and drives off, she makes it a few blocks before she has to stop, get out and vomit on the side of the road. Panicking over what she has just done, she says, “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god..." repeating it in quick succession holding her hand over her mouth.

As she drives back to the hotel, panic-stricken she frequently looks around and in her rear-view mirror, expecting to see police lights behind her. Those lights never show up.

Back in her hotel room she's pacing back and forth, then suddenly grabs her keys off the end table and leaves. She parks on the street across from High Point Cemetery, she means to find Theodore and make him tell her what he did with Story October.
