Chapter Four: The Viper gang

Chapter Four: The Viper gang

September 14th, 1995

It's been a few days since Darick and Sonata's mother passed. But Darick wondered where Sonata was placed from CPS.

Darick wouldn't mind driving where he has his driver's license but he doesn't have his Emergency Driver's license which prohibits him from driving police cars, police mobile communications vehicles, police motorcycles, police vans, riot vans, fire engines, fire tricks, fire mobile air mask units, fire hose tenders, HAZMAT trucks, Fire Dept Rescue squad trucks, Ambulances, Ambulance buses, and doctor's cars.

Over the radio a 288 was transmitted and Darick and a cop who he's partnered with were down the street.

"A lewd conduct at 7:45 AM," said Darick, "Interesting wonder how it'll be and hope it doesn't turn out weird,"

The driver turned on the lights and siren and headed two blocks north and stopped outside of a high-rise building. Darick got out where he slid his 23-inch wooden baton into the baton holder.

Darick and the other policeman entered the high rise and the woman behind the desk told the two that the person is on the 35th floor which is the sky lobby.

The two got on the express elevator and went to the sky lobby and saw a butt naked man run by.

"Like I said not a day to start out on," said Darick

Darick then got out of the elevator and chased the guy who's running around butt naked and threw his baton at him and struck the back of the guy's left knee and it made him fall. The guy fought Darick as he was trying to arrest the guy for public lewdness charge.

Darick had to hit the guy again with his baton to make him stop resisting.

The police belts on Little Bird only have a handgun holster either for a double-action revolver or semi-automatic pistol, radio pouch for a portable personal radio or handheld transceiver, handcuffs, flashlight holder for a twenty-inch flashlight, four magazine pouches, baton holder for either a twenty-three-inch wooden baton or twenty-four-inch polycarbonate side-handle baton, key holder, disposable gloves, and a knife pouch.

The guy was hard to bring under control. But some officers have pepper spray/mace on them for self-defense or to quell angry crowds but pepper spray can be smelled and has a strong scent too.

The guy was extremely resistant and when he was placed in the back of the car where he was kicking the back of their seats so the driver just stopped and he turned around and he pulled out his pepper spray.

Darick told him not to but he still used the pepper spray which made Darick get out of the car and walked the rest of the way to the Ninth precinct so his eyes won't burn or he won't smell the pepper spray.

At the Ninth precinct

Darick did the arrest report while it took the officer that Darick is with and fourteen others to force him out of the car, process him, book him, put clothing on him, and place him into a cell.

Back on patrol. A 211 went over the radio so the driver turned on the siren and rotary light on and headed to Westlake bank in Westside.

***

At the bank.

The bank is a single-story building with a heavy rear and side door and roof access and a locked security door.

There were four robbers one with a submachine gun, one with an assault rifle, one with a shotgun, and one with a light machine gun and they were fired upon right away. They took cover on the passenger side of the car and Darick had the shotgun and fired a few blasts from the Baker 540 and killed one with the SMG and the other three decided to go back into the bank and hold down the bank.

More police cars arrived including SWAESU and the police and SWAT/ESU surrounded the bank but all of the windows were barricaded so they couldn't get eyes on the inside they called in a negotiator they didn't want to talk to.

They didn't want a getaway car they didn't want anything and made negotiations impossible but every exit was blocked and looked over by police snipers who overlooked all exits/entrances with pinpoint accuracy with their M66 Bolt-action rifles (M40), Scoped Semiautomat SG (M21 SWS), and M62 (R700).

The SWAESU team lockpicked the door and the robbers were quickly put down and the hostages were freed.

"Lucky the windshield is bulletproof," said Darick while holding the shotgun

Every military, police, medical and fire vehicle on Little Bird have level ten bulletproof glass.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Darick and the other officer looked at the windshield which has a lot of impact points so they went back to the precint and got a new patrol car.

Uptown, Empire at the intersection of Nineteenth Street and Nightengale Avenue.

A person walked up to the patrol car from the driver side and fired seven rounds into the car missing Darick but hitting the driver.

Darick got out of the car and drew his gun and walkie-talkie.

"9-Adam-25 to dispatch," said Darick, "Officer down at the intersection of 19th Street and Nightengale Ave. The suspect is running west!"

Darick then chased after the suspect and turned into an alley and he ordered the suspect to drop his gun only for the suspect to shoot and miss Darick and Darick returned fire with a lethal hit. Darick also radioed it in.

At the Ninth Precinct.

Darick just filled out what happened from his perspective but the OCU captain then told him to go to the Tenth precinct in Midtown and go to the Anti-Gang unit.

The Tenth precinct was different and that is it is a white V-Coner and four floors. But like all other police stations, it has a helipad on the room and a SWAESU team not adding it's across the street from the Empire Police and County/Borough of Mountain police.

On the third floor.

The third floor has the Anti-Gang Unit, Homicide, Traffic, Vice, Bunco, Burglary, and Arson squads.

The Captain of the Anti-Gang unit wasn't entirely friendly with a rookie helping but beggers can't be choosers. But he told Darick that the Vipers gang hangs out in the old two print works that shut down and an ice cream distribution place but the captain told Darick to go to the E.O.D/Elite Operations Detachment (there version of the FBI), building in Uptown.

Almost an hour later at a brick building and Darick entered the basement and saw some 7th generation of '73 Chevy Suburbans painted black and he saw a caucasian woman in white collar shirt, red tie, black vest, black-tailored suit jacket, black trousers, place leather belt, white socks, and black loafer shoes.

"So I assume your Agent Mackenzie Smith?" asked Darick

She replied, "Well I'm not Mrs. Clasue. I assume you're Patrolman rank one Darick Ryan,"

"Well, I'm not Santa Clause," said Darick

Agent Mackenzie replied, "Let's take a ride,"

They both got in Agent Mackenzie's orange '67 Sorbert Gelato and took a ride somewhere where they got to a place and inside of a room they saw E.O.D agents on phone tap machines listing to gang member phone calls. Even though Little Bird is a police state and there is no constitution or amendment that prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures, and no constitution or amendment protecting people from keeping silent in police custody or in a court of law. But law enforcement still needs a judge's approval to use wiretaps but the Elite Operations Detachment they always take the low road.

"The Vipers gang have two bases of operations in old print works and in an old ice cream factory," said Agent Mackenzie, "The first two have the same layout but the Ice cream factory is a one-story building with two entrance garages and a smaller garage on it's northern side and a loading dock on the back end,"

They took a ride and parked some way away and walked. But Darick grabbed a Steakout shotgun (M37) and that's why it makes Darick feel more defensible and have more power,

The two were able to climb the fence and sneak into the place.

***

On the inside they saw tons of narcotics and Agent Mackenzie used a phone to call the E.O.D but when police sirens in the distance grew closer someone came in and told them that the cops are coming and they should hide the drugs.

Before they could start hiding the drugs that's when Darick and Mackenzie popped out of cover and told them that if they move they will get shot. Unlike Agent Mackenzie, Darick won't harm someone without it being in self-defense but Agent Mackenzie will due to she's also a part of the City of Chocolate Homeguard/Militia and a part of the County/Borough/State (mostly called a county over the latter two) of Cascade State Defense as a Automatic Riflewoman.

Some more gangsters came in and pointed their weapons at the two. But after ten seconds a lot of Elite Operations Detachment Agents and their Heavy Response Team and Maximum Force Responder with the ladder two in a dark gray uniform with ballistic vests, balaclava, helmets, goggles, combat boots, knee pads, and elbow bads).

Back at the EOD building.

The EOD seized a street with of $186,000 worth of narcotics off the streets. Due to Darick helped as an "outside source" he got 5% of it and he got $9300 and what he did was go buy a car due to he has his license and he bought a '65 Hornet Bronco ('65 Mustang) for $2734.

While riding around in his new car he saw his sister getting abused by an adult so he stopped after parking and angrily walked over.

Darick told Sonata to get in the car and he'll deal with his sister's foster father who he and his wife rely of the foster care checks from the County/Borough/State of Mountain and not really caring for the kids/teens.

Darick then got into the car and took Sonata back to his apartment but Darick came back and got some cheeseburgers and a couple of sodas for him and Sonata for dinner. But she told Darick she would like to have her foster parents arrested.

Darick left Sonata with his off-duty S&W 5906 which is the standard foreign off duty firearm for Little Bird cops. But Darick went to the Ninth precinct and got some reports for Sonata to file some arrest reports.

Sonata filled them out and Darick was going to return them tomorrow.

***

At night.

The two smelled smoke so Darick went to check it out and there was a fire so Darick broke a hole in the wall for them to get out but Darick stayed behind a bit to get dressed, to get his money, wallet, and other important things but Sonata pulled a fire alarm in her sports bra, and unisex boxers.

Darick stayed behind while Sonata went outside where Darick helped evacuate.

***

Darick got out of the building where Engine 17 a 1968 semi-closed cab fire engine, and Ladder 17 a open cab 1962 tractor-drawn fire truck were pulling up.

"Steven fire is in apartment 7D," said Darick

Captain Steven replied, "Darick is that you?"

"Yeah it's me," said Darick

Captain Steven replied, "Ok boys drop the 3 1/2 supply line into the standpipe, and get the 1 1/2 and 2 3/4 high-rise packs,"

Darick then went over to his sister and sat on the concrete sidewalk curb. But Sonata doesn't want to sit down due to it being cold. Darick told her that standing on asphalt isn't better but she always can sit on the fire engine or fire truck but sitting on cold steel isn't any better.

Three more fire companies arrived and they were Engine 19, Engine 47, and Engine 23 with Ladder 19, Ladder 47, and Ladder 23

Darick was now talking to a detective saying whoever did it well it's arson.

The detective wants to know why he thinks it's arson and Darick told him that he recently moved in and has no insurance but he pissed off a lot of people off so far.

"Hey Darick," said Captain Steven, "Who did you piss off?"

Darick replied, "Some criminals. But they're behind bars,"

"Captain I know that Arson investigators are going to have your say," said the detective, "What do you say about it?"

Captain Steven replied, "It's arson. A mix of Class A and Class B fire so we had to call in an Alcohol foam engine."

Captain Steven then pointed to Foam Engine 32 a 1969 semi-closed cab.

"We couldn't fight the fire with water due to the water would've spread but everything else that caught fire we were able to douse with water," said Captain Steven, "But whoever wants you dead well half of your apartment is soaked in flammable liquids. My guess it's petroleum, tars, oils, oil-based paints, solvents, lacquers, alcohol, gasoline, or kerosene if not lighter fluid. Also your couch it went up like a Roman candle."

Darick and Sonata then shook Captain Steven's hand where he then went to go help with the overhaul and help pack up Engine Co #17.

Steven told them before he left that they can go to his apartment.in Riverview.

***

In the morning.

Darick gave Sonata a ride to school where she goes to Redwood High School in Westside.

***

At the EOD building, he wanted to talk to Agent Mackenzie who was typing on her 1980's computer. He wanted her help on how to deal with the next gang he's going after which he's going to go undercover which is the Boomer gang.

She warned him to be careful due to they're a hard gang to impress.

Before Darick left he wrote down an address for her and a team of agents to do a no-knock warrant on the place.

***

At the place that's the hideout of the Jackal gang.

An E.O.D Agent had a battering ram and broke the door open where Agent Mackenzie and a team of agents entered like Darick said there were plans for a future terrorist attack out in the open. And all of the gang members were arrested and they saved who knows how many lives.

Agent Mackenzie held a press conference about it and she didn't take full credit but she gave herself and the EOD half credit where the other half she credited Darick for the tip.
