Into The Island Chapter 8-Draft

Into The Island Chapter 8-Draft

Shaking my head as I make the decision to let the fleeing porcupine live, I drag the other two’s bodies into the pile seeing as my liquid bone sphere is getting more efficient at taking the bones from the corpses I’m leaving near it I might not have to sit here for much longer, and at least for now I don’t have to worry too much about any other monsters coming after me. Seems the smell of blood only travels so far.

I then start to take stock of the total number of creatures I’ve killed this night, three rabbits, four squirrels, and two large porcupines. Of those the rabbits now only have their horns untouched by my bone manipulation leaving the boneless husks to get in the way of my ability to remove the other creatures bones. Leaving something like that is obviously not beneficial so I start to move the rabbits corpses away from the absorption spot hopefully that will get some of the scavengers to leave me alone.

Once the rabbits had been moved the absorption rate of bones sped up visibly, I was almost a little sad that I would be reducing the size of the glorious sphere of pulsing bone matter I know that the amount of impurities inside it as crazy and I would be unable to use it and keep my bone purifier trait. I let a sigh out internally then started looking into taking some of the traits of these animals for myself. Having a ranged attack would be great as that would stop me from having to leap and charge into battle so often, so I started with the porcupines using observe while some of my other halves paid attention to my surroundings for me.

And soon I figured out why my ability was not doing what I wanted it to do. Because as I was observing the first porcupine I grew bored so I started looking at them both and soon I started noticing how they were able to shoot their quills they have muscles under their quills in a criss cross pattern and when they wanted to shoot them the pattern would tighten forcing them flying at impressive speeds. Then I started observing the rabbits horns using the heightened eyesight of observe I soon noticed that I would most likely need a lot more mana to reinforce my body like the rabbits have done to their horns. But I could do just a little bit and that's all the difference on this island.

But no matter how hard I looked I still couldn’t figure out how to make cartilage, and I’m starting to think that I might not be able to make anything that isn’t directly made of bones. Like yeah I can reinforce my bones, even shoot my bones out at things, but I can’t make something like fur, cartilage, or muscle because I’ve tried for a while now and I’m still unable to actually work bones into any of those thing, or anything similar, it makes sense but I’d still like to be able to do so especially because cartilage is a part of the skeleton system at least according to my memories.

‘I don’t really have a choice do I? If my power legit doesn’t work on that type of thing then my only option is to bite my tongue till I find a different power so I can do something about it.’ So my attention went back to the sphere of bone and seeing how much longer it was going to take for it to absorb the last bits of bone from the remaining bodies. As long as I keep moving the bodies that are empty then my speeds are going to keep going up so I should be able to just pay attention to whether or not a body has any bones instead of looking at the whole pile…

This discovery definitely increased the speed at which I was able to go through the bodies the only real issue is that at this point the mana cost of keeping the thing in the air is getting ever closer to out pacing my regeneration so I’ll soon be forced to cut my losses if I don’t do something soonish.. No time like the present is a good motto to live by so I started putting two more of my halves on the job of purifying the bone sphere as bone gets added, leaving me with three helpers to use however I want. I then spent a few minutes slowing down the rate of bone absorption till the purifiers were just barely out pacing the rate of absorption.

That should help out but I might be forced to go crazy here and add all of the bone mass to myself so that I’ll be able to leave. But in the meantime all I can do is wait and see if more monsters are going to be attacking me, and I’ll also need to push out the last squirrels so that I’ll only be dealing with two oversized porcupines, so I started planning how I was going to get the squirrels out from under the larger and heavier porcupines, well I could have the sphere grab the big boys then pull the squirrels out.. That's most likely the fastest option so I’m gonna do that.

Changing the orders of the sphere from absorbing the bones, to pulling up the porcupines I felt the drain on my mana increase and their bodies slowly tilt up enough for me to pull the squirrels out and away. After dragging away the squirrels I let the porcupines drop to the floor then let the purification continue working away for a little while before I start up the gatherers. ‘I'm going to need to keep hoping that I don’t get any more guests for these last few minutes.’

At this point I’m doing the equivalent of watching a can of paint dry and I can’t for the life of me say that I have anything better to do while I’m waiting and hoping that the beasties around will avoid me till I’m done then I can leave, and head for the coast maybe find a cave or something to build a base in.

‘Me and my big mouth I just had to say something didn’t I?’ I think as my life detection picks up a medium sized creature heading towards me at high speeds I start to prepare for the missile wanna be, I’ve got eight seconds before it makes contact with me. First taking stock of my HP 93/100 and MP 489/500. I should have enough of both to deal with a speed focused enemy. Although I wonder why it took so long for it to get here considering it’s speed.

Then I started trying to do something similar to the rabbits and to their horns, but I’m trying to do it on the vast majority of my body just in case the new enemy is more of a glass cannon rather than just being fast. I have only enough time to do one more thing before it gets to me, so I look towards the sphere of bones and make a connection so that I can have a final option if all else fails.

As soon as I’d made the connection my little copse of trees was granted a visitor, a normal sized deer, a buck if the horns are any indication. I do happen to remember one thing about deer they are very capable of using their horns to gore their opponents, so I’ll need to avoid that while keeping an eye on its legs because any animal with a body shape even slightly close to a horse does indeed have the ability and knowledge of how to use said legs to deliver skull cracking amounts of damage.

The deer reared up before it started charging, I’m assuming it wants to end this fight before I’m able to use my mini arsenal of stabby, slashing, and crushing damage, ‘I really don’t want this fight to be over, so I’m going to have to insist on not getting impaled.’ I think with a smirk before I freeze and let the deer get closer because I don’t want the thing getting any ideas about how fast I actually am, without damaging it that is.. As expected of something capable of the speeds I saw earlier it cleared the distance between us remarkably fast considering the amount of trees and such in the way.

‘Yes, just a little closer and I’ll be able to level the playing field a bit.’ Not that this wasn’t fair but it was too fair, I’m capable of dealing with this things speed and it also will be able to deal with my speed so if it comes down to it, I’m going to have to take way more damage than I’d like while I wait for it to tire out. So I have to deal crippling damage otherwise I’m gonna leave myself far to open for the next guy to get a piece out of me.

And as the deer’s advance was getting closer I started using observe because the better eyesight and ability to almost slow things down if I pump enough mana into it can only help pick the perfect moment, I didn’t use the second effect yet though because it was still just a little too far, but I was planning out my next actions just waiting till I could spring into action and end this opponent now rather than later and have to deal with the next guy.

Time was passing in milliseconds as the deer was so close to the perfect place, I might have hated waiting but I hated having an enemy who knows how capable I am of causing death more. So I bit back my knee jerk reaction to lunge at the deer, trying to meet its charge head on.. I’ll need to keep a constant eye for that type of thinking, I’m unable to actually take the type and amount of damage the deer would cause to me if I were to meet the thing in its domain of expertise.

But in my domain, the domain of ambushes and traps, an opponent who relies on their honor and base strength to enforce their status in combat. They have no chance of dealing the catastrophic damage one of their class of fighters could deal out. Knowing this and repeating it like a mantra forcing my split conscience to focus on the deer keeping it so much under observation that I was getting an idea of its heart rate.. I let the sound of the powerful life giving muscle lule me into a type of awareness, I already know exactly the best place for the deer to be in before I spring my trap, so I let myself relax into a calmness, one of just knowing exactly how the deer was going to move to the sudden shift in the air only an animal who lived its entire life inside a forest filled to the brim with creatures who wanted nothing more than your death.

‘Animals truly are sensitive to outside forces aren't they?’ I think aloud but with the deer only becoming more aware of its imminent demise I couldn’t see the deer trying to change its course of actions. After all I’d made zero movement of any kind since the deer was able to see me. It most likely didn’t even know how a crab would move let alone a crab who lacked the natural limitations that a crab body would provide. The deer for the most part once it became aware did exactly as I thought and continued without slowing down at all, if anything it sped up, trying to get the rampant feeling of unease to go away. That increase is speed and an elevated heart rate where the only things that indicated the panic that the deer was on the verge of routing because of.

And as much as I praised the deer for noticing something was up, I know deep in the bottom of my soul that the deer was almost completely consumed by even the idea that I wasn’t going to just let the deer kill me. it couldn’t understand how something would be able to stand still and just wait to die, then suddenly change its mind about being killed, so it had no choice but to charge and hope that it was going to be able to deal with whatever I threw at it.

I doubted that it would be able to handle what I was planning but it only had to make another few steps then I could use my rather unfinished claw. Two more steps. One more step till I spring my attack on one unsuspecting deer. The pure speed of the deer was very impressive but after looking at it in slow motion, thanks to the multiple observes being used simultaneously, I know for a fact that me and the deer have different types of speed I’m able to accelerate quickly, and not just my legs but any part of my body was able to accelerate at a rapid pace then stop with no issue, thanks to the fact that my body wouldn’t take damage from this and my body was infused with my mana to the point that I could control my body normally or by using my mana manipulation so I could stop myself twice as fast as something my size had any right or reason to do so.

I waited just a single second longer than necessary, I waited till the deer was blinking so that it wouldn’t be able to respond for just that single second extra, after all I needed to get better at dealing with long wait times so might as well wait one second extra. I watched as the eyes closed then made my move, literally my main claw acting as a distraction and a viable threat considering the momentum behind the deer would carry it right into the loving grasp of my claw.

The deer’s eyes opened and noticed the situation had changed drastically, and it leaped away from my main claw.. Leaving the side of its neck exposed to my second claw. It appeared like a normal claw till you notice that it's much longer than the main claw but is about a third its size in other proportions. Still kinda normal, right up until the claw closed and the two halves formed a single piece of bone in the shape of a lance. It was three feet long even, giving it plenty of room to make a clean pierce deep into the deer's neck and then I pulled away letting the crimson liquid fall from the beasts neck. It staggered trying to understand what hit him, he was so sure that he’d dodged. Then the eyes followed the ground till they found me.. It looked at me then noticed the one thing it never took into account I had two main weapons. The deer fell right after that, unable to fight drowning in its own blood and combined with losing massive amounts at the same time.

I wasted no time in grabbing the deer and hauling it towards the pile. Already making plans to manually absorb the remaining bones and to deal with the impurities once I had a base of my own. I wanted a place where enemies who came in could get lost, I wanted to be able to use my dark vision and I wanted to be able to use my ability to change shape to my advantage.. I know only two places that fit any of those requirements. The first one being some sort of sewer system, I couldn’t do that one obviously so there actually was only one option, a cave it fits every requirement and the place that has the most caves is near the shore so I could find one where sinking to the bottom of a really deep hole was the only way in that way living things would have that little extra hard time getting into my lair.. ‘What I’m I a dragon? It’s not a lair even if that sounds cool, it's a staging area, a place I can go to and be safe, using all of my natural and unnatural abilities to my advantage.’

Now how do I get to the coast? I look back in my past life’s memories hoping to find something that would point me in the right direction but didn’t seem to know anything, that I didn’t already, about exploring deserted islands other than a general helpful list of things I should keep in mind when I’m exploring this island. Having higher ground would allow me to see further, kinda obvious but I hadn’t thought of it so it's helpful. Animals both prey and predators both need water if you find water you can find the things that need it, also obvious but as an undead even if only for the better part of a month I was starting to forget that. While it isn’t the best idea out of the list it was the only one that really seemed usable for my current goal, other than just climbing a tree and hoping that I could see something. It was the idea that birds all have different shaped beaks for different types of food. And one of those types were remarkably good at picking up smaller bugs from the sides of rock faces.

Now thinking about this world I know for a fact that the birds are probably much larger than the ones I’ve got rattling inside my head. Secondly I can’t really find birds who live off bugs inside cliffs.. When I’m who knows how far away from said cliffs. ‘I could do the tried and true method of just walking in a direction till I start getting the idea that something looks like the ocean.’ I say as a joke but can’t come up with a punchline to make it actually funny, am I legit trying to justify wandering around the island even more without a place I can trust to keep me safe. I just don’t have enough options to think of an alternative.. Before I do anything I’ll take control over the bone sphere, and finish absorbing everything dry.

I wonder if keeping the bone sphere was really even worth it, considering that I absorbed the few remaining bones from the porcupines then made short work out of removing the bones from the deer, oddly enough I thought the horns would be like the rabbits but I was able to take them into me just fine. I mentaly shrugged then started making my way towards a large rock out cropping, I of course was very much aware that there was something inside the rock formation, but it looked like it was just a little smaller than my new form.

As I thought that I did a mental check up on the new body I inhabited. The crab's general shape proved quite able to deal with the massive size increases, like my current growth spurt if you could call it that. My body previously was around two feet and six inches tall. As of now my body is an even five feet tall with my crushing claw being four feet long and at least one foot and maybe nine-ish inches wide. My lance claw was a sight to behold, its length was easily five foot and 6 inches long, it had a width of around one third of the larger claw getting thicker going towards the base till it connected to my shell where it was the same width as the crushing claw.

I could tell that while my body had gained height I had lost mobility and versatility. Also most if all of the growth was more generalized rather than the hyper specialized growth of my main claws. I also was more oval shaped than previously with my claws being pushed to the farthest sides, I didn’t make those claws so they could work separately at an average level, I built them from the ground up with minimizing the weaknesses of one and boosting the strengths wherever possible. My fighting style would be basically worthless with them set up like that so I used my new shell shape to create a mound around me to keep out things that thought I would be an easy meal while I got rid of the impurities… And then I paused right in the middle of moving around to create a large divot in the ground, almost like crabs can dig! How in this god's cursed earth could I have forgotten that crabs build lairs and spend a great deal of time making them!

I would have slapped myself but that would ruin my little hill I’d made for myself… So I sat there stewing in my admittedly minor mistake till one of my other halves informed me that the level of impurities had reached new heights and that we were having issues even controlling our body. ‘Mental note, adding lots of bones while great for a quick power up, not that good for the whole mage build I got going on here.’ I wasn’t going to ponder if I was an actual mage build considering I had some heavy duty weapons that I doubt a mage would be able to use.

Instead I focused on spitting out yet more impurities, this time though the amount of them was staggering, only a faint outline of the bones that I’d actually purified can be seen through the muck… It’s been twelve hours and I’ve made very little progress, because of the fact that my hill is enclosed all the particles get trapped inside so I’ve been forced to bury myself ever lower to make space for more of these rather annoying particles… Another twelve hours, and while I’ve made more progress I can’t count this as a win because after a full day of working at this I’ve reduced the amount by about half and I honestly have no way to get out of this hole I’ve dug because it’s like fourty or so feet deep into the earth here. I continue to grumble about ‘stupid dust.’ As I go ever deeper trying to get rid of the impurities.

As of right now I’ve made a whole that is so deep I honestly don’t know how I haven’t hit an underground lake or something, and I’ve yet to see any more progress with the remaining impurities… There is now a single line of incredibly dense ‘Didn’t that skill call it earth mana?’ Yea that sounds right, anyhow that single line is giving me a very hard time because I have to remove it piece by piece and it is quite resistant. I need to start making my way towards the surface before I get too deep, I’ve been digging for another two days so I can’t have much wiggle room between going too far for me to even consider getting out vs. me making such a gradual line up that I’m going to end up hitting the coast or still be too deep and being basically at the bottom of the ocean.

After making crab ancestors proud and making other crab parents disappointed in their children by marching, digging, and purifying my bones in an ever more upwards direction for the last three days if my math is right. I discovered that after removing that core of earth mana more tries real hard to get in, but if I put my undead mana inside I get quite a bonus to how strong my bones are, the only parts that I’ve been able to do this with would be the bones going to my main claws, the claws themselves have too many moving parts for me to remove all the impurities while still being in an area where earth mana is very present, the second thing is that after sensing and messing around with earth mana for the majority of these six days, I can sense it easily distinguishing it from the “normal” mana around me, or more accurately I can pick out the earth mana particles out of the spaghetti soup of other elemental mana. I’m still rather poor at controlling it, maybe one day I’ll be able to control it as well.

I ignored the nagging feelings from my other halves, who have gotten very chatty lately, I think it's because I haven't been able to have them help me at all since I came down here. ‘Guys if yall ever want to get out of this hole please stop making such a huge deal out of this, or if that's too much to ask then try and find something you can do without interrupting the digging to our freedom.’ I mentaly chided my other halves then opened my status page for the first time in a while.

Limitations/Traits:

Undeath- You have no normal negatives of being undead, you will even find your strength, speed, and mana abilities increased during both the night and day,

Undead- You have no stamina, you have no need to sleep, and any desire to do so is magickly influenced,

Hunger for life- Your body has no life in it, you must take this life from somewhere lest your unlife ends.

Mana Blessed- Somehow you have gained the attention of mana itself, your mana has gained increased awarness, and mental abilities are exponentially more powerful and easier to use.

You have unlocked a skill normally only available for high ranked undead, it allows you to heal from damage.

Life force user- Now that you have such fine control of your mana your life force is now completely under your control.

Blessed by representative of undeath mana- You were blessed by the origin of all undead mana, you find mana of the same or similar type are much easier to use and when ever a being less to or equal to in strength to the representative tries to see your status/ affect your mind they will be unable to do so. You also gain access to higher level undead abilities sooner, they are much stronger that they should be at your level.

As an undead blessed by pure undeath mana all limits on having stats vs. not having stats. Are removed as long as it was caused by your being undead, and your stats are slightly higher.

Life force cultivation- you have compressed your life force into a higher purity than an undead would normally have access to, this has made it so that you are quite capable of using your life force to heal and strengthen others and yourself. You now have a bonus to how fast you heal, how effective your Con, Str, Dex, Int, and Wis are and will be able to heal even as an undead due to your blessing from a representative of undeath.

Bone purifier*2- Your bones have undergone a number of baptisms by earth mana, you have pushed it away continually your bones now will be stronger against creatures with earth mana inside them. You can choose to expel all of your current earth mana to regain bonuses from the earlier level of this trait. Those are your mana being able to freely move through and outside of your body. You will find a bonus to Con, and that now you can fit far more energies inside of yourself. Your Str and Dex also get a bonus

Form modifier- You have modified the base nature of your body, this normally wouldn’t provide any noticeable changes other than in height and other things of that nature. But you took it one step above the norm by modifying small details to make the body more efficient, by modifying your form you can increase or decrease the bonuses to most of your abilities, earning bonuses to your future modification attempts and you can now with enough time and patience replicate purely physical traits, after observing an animal for long enough.

The first thing would be my race variant being gone, ‘oi let me have my head type variant trait. That was pretty cool and I would like to have it all things considered.’ I mentaly joke before focusing on the most important thing, Is that a method to get rid of all this earth mana I see? The answer to that was yes, and boy am I a happy skeleton for having it.

So without further ado I expelled the earth mana out of myself leaving me with a stat screen resembling pure gold in my eyes. The amount of mana I have at my disposal has increased tremendously and I noticed that the earth mana was no longer trying to go inside my bones, in fact with my claws constantly cutting into the earth I couldn’t help but notice that my claws were rending straight through even the tougher rocks and compressed dirt that was slowing my progress previously. ‘Surface here I come, get ready for me!’...

Soon my frame burst through the earth making contact with the starlight, I wanted to take a deep breath but was unable to fulfill that desire. Leaving an empty spot in an otherwise happy moment. No matter after all that digging I looked at my form and took notice that I was quite a bit shorter only being 4.7 feet tall and my claws had also shrunk to fit my smaller frame. I was startled by growling coming from my left and right. Looking towards that I found that I had burrowed directly in front of a group of dog like animals, they stood at around four foot tall themselves and had the shape of a wolf but had two larger teeth like a sabertooth tiger or some sort of boar I couldn’t tell you which one was more accurate.

Due to one there being three of the things two smaller ones who had the saber tooth like grill, and a larger one who had both and was on the larger side of the 4 foot height spectrum. And secondly because one of the smaller ones charged at my leg trying to get a cheap shot in before we started fighting. That went about as well as one could expect, I reacted to the dogs low lunge by picking my leg up letting the dog get a mouth full of air, my eyes would have been dilated with focus if I had them but instead an passive and cold eye followed the dog then signaled to me when a good time to drop my leg would be. The hardened bone spike had little issue going straight through the dog's head and into the ground.

The second dog who was going to leap at me to take advantage of me not having one of my legs on the ground stopped and looked towards the larger dog. The big one looked at me and in a show of arrogant dismissal barked towards the smaller one.. They were ignoring me, I was fine with that because it gave me plenty of time to absorb the bones of the dog impaled on my leg. They didn’t add much mass or any real benefit but it did enrage the smaller dog causing it to leap towards my center of mass.

This would have been somewhat difficult to dodge, that is if I wasn’t a crab, my entire body can pivot a full 360 degrees without issue from any of my legs. So my body spun around causing the dog to me in front of me with its back turned towards me, it was still falling towards the ground when I snipped at it with my larger claw, my claw dug deep into the dogs spine almost cutting it in two, before the dog died I threw the dying animal towards the larger one.

Who was in the middle of leaping at me trying its darndest to take me out while I was distracted, he found himself being slammed into by his companion at very high speeds. While he was trying to get out from under the body I went forward and found myself looking down at the dog. Without wasting time I sent one of my hidden slashing legs towards the animal's neck, sending a spray of blood to join the pooling blood from his companion. Then I started absorbing their bones and LF this caused my LF to have the potential to max out if I purified it. ‘I could try and level up or I could try and cultivate the LF one level higher just to see what happens.’

With that in mind I had my other halves start mass refining all of my energies just to see what would happen. And started walking towards more enemies, I don’t think staying in one place is a good idea especially because if what I remember about dungeons is true then they don’t really move around much unless something bad has happened. So I honestly should enjoy being able to go and do things with my own body before I turn into a dungeon and am unable to move anymore.

Thinking on this I start to consider if I have enough bones to make myself a humanoid shaped body because that would allow me to make tools. While not strictly necessary it could benefit me if I change my form again. ‘Maybe not yet because I don’t think I have enough bones to make a full humanoid body nor enough to make a new body of any real strength.’ Leaving me to make a rough approximation on the amounts of bones I would need to make a new body.

I also started wondering if I was right to not make a home base especially because I did have a hard time with defending myself from all those nasties earlier.. Well not so early more a week ago but the point still stands. That having a body like my current one is great for a “knight” build as my profile says but I need to start focusing on magic because it could take me way farther than my body.

Speaking of mana I started checking up on my mana to see what it was doing. The first thing I noticed is that my regen rate had draped to almost nothing and that my mana and undead mana both were being pushed together to form higher purity versions of themselves. I stopped the process to ask the mana if they were okay with what was happening. My normal mana indicated that they would rather avoid the confinement even if it would make them stronger, some did say they wouldn’t mind so I left the ones that wanted to get refined and let the mana that didn’t leave the compression ball.

My undead mana unanimously had one request that I use this as a promotion rather than all of them getting ranked up. So I had the mana that wanted to be foot soldiers leave and guard their commanders while they ranked up. I noticed the original speaker was in the group of soldiers along with other speakers. “Speakers, why are you abandoning your positions?” While my wording was rather heavy handed I did want them to be in the command chain rather than troops so I wanted to know why my little fanatics felt it was okay to ignore my commands. “My lord we all feel that or purpose is to tell you what our fellows say and think, but if we where to take command positions then we would be unable to maintain neutrality, we soon would want our unit to seek glory under your commands this could result in units taking too much for themselves and their unit to handle.” The first speaker told me this, he was now a much darker color than previously and was much more open with his opinion, I’m okay with that but I did make an investment with him. “Very well but you will be commander of the speakers and will make sure they speak solely for their unit, and speak only the truth to me when I ask them questions.” The soldier kneeled on the ground and saluted. I could tell he was angry, not at me but the idea that any one would lie to me. “Your will is our purpose my lord.” He was still kneeling while he said that. I nodded then opened the gate to the refinement area and nodded him towards the hole in the bubble.

He stood and marched his way into the bubble. Then I closed the refinement area, looking towards my LF I found that my calculation was correct and that I would be able to level up using my LF. I was wrong about not having any leftover, there was still a bit of gaseous LF remaining enough that I felt compelled to add it to the bubble with my undeath mana. Soon my form found a new enemy. I left it to a few of my other halves and started to meditate..

My body continued moving, and fighting but I was starting to get sick of having no time to myself so I’m leaving it to my other halves to pilot the mech if we get damaged so be it. I continued meditating well into the morning, my other halves only interrupted me once it got to midday.

I opened my eyes and noticed that we were in a familiar area, I could also see the far more noticeable dark abyss caused by I assume the dungeon. ‘Why are we here we definitely aren't ready!’ I yelled towards my other halves who shyly looked away but I did here a couple of mumbles about there being no harm in checking it out. I couldn’t argue that there wasn’t because at this point I have to assume we are at least a little bit capable of dealing with a dungeon.

‘Fine we can try and take it on, but I want a human body before we do that. Are we on the same page about this?’ My other halves sent nothing but nods towards me so I took over and let them take a break with fighting and such. I then turned by body and started going towards the nearest enemy. I’m betting it's not going to be another squirrel or rabbit.
