After spending a few agonizing seconds debating the choice, he knew that he had to pick the Respawner class. The Bloodluster class was cool, very cool even. And he knew exactly how to exploit it too. The box description mentioned a 300% debuff to all mental attributes for the duration of the bloodlust. The key there being that there was no restriction regarding potential mental skills that could buff his mental attributes. While it’s true that his mental attributes would be debuffed, any mental skills he could acquire would be totally fine, and could be utilized to counteract the debuff to some extent. A 500% buff to physical attributes with only a minor mental debuff was… certainly tempting.
He couldn’t get over the feeling that it was too risky though. And though Sam realized it was childish, he knew that he wanted to be fully aware of the badass feats he would accomplish. It would totally take away from his rise to power if his thoughts were subdued and he were just a dumb, overpowered brute.
Waiting before making his choice also didn’t seem viable. Sam was aware that while everything seemed normal aside from the talking trees, which had unfortunately refused to speak English and actively pretended he wasn’t trying to engage them, that this normalcy wouldn’t last. Sam had imagined this scenario enough to know that magic and craziness would be soon to follow.
This left only one choice. He knew that no hero passes up a unique hidden class, but still, he felt it was worth thinking over. He really didn’t want to mess up. He needed to make sure he had the potential to be as awesome as possible. Even the name of the class sounded incredibly overpowered, and the description exceed his expectations. “Becoming unstoppable” was exactly what he wanted, and what he knew he deserved after ending up in this world. Well, Sam realized there was no use stalling any longer.

Well that was… unexpected. The class itself met his expectations, but the requirements were… harsh. It seemed this world didn’t pull punches. First his intelligence and wisdom, and now it was attacking him as a person? This was a lot. The XP requirements also seemed incredibly steep; 10,000 XP at level 1? Who had ever heard of that. In its defense, the stupid box did mention higher level requirements for special classes, but wasn’t the typical leveling requirement 100XP at level 1 in most games? This was 100 times that! If that kept up as he leveled and normal class XP requirements got exponentially higher… he might be in for some difficulty. But he had an overpowered hidden class! Those always had some deus ex machine that made things work out and gave the hero the exact scenario they needed to level up just in the nick of time. It might be a pain, but his overpowered unique class will make it a breeze, Sam grew more and more sure.
The more Sam thought about it, the more he realized the class was just all around weird. First, the crazy leveling requirements. Next, the jerky system attacking his personality. Then, the supposedly unique hidden class only came with one skill, one with an ERROR message somehow in it? The skill description didn’t even say anything! Sam was growing to hate this snarky system. All it did was attack him without telling him anything of use.
Sam just hoped the status mentioned in that text that kept flashing by would finally shed some light on everything. He just wondered how to access it, though it seemed his worries were for nothing. The second he thought about his desire to access it, it appeared before him in that same strange, there but not there way. Sam just hoped his attributes weren’t as bad as that stupid Bloodluster class had made it seem.

Sam paused. His attributes were… not the best. It might not be as bad as it seemed, but it could be. The class requirements did seem to imply a willpower or endurance focus, and his stats for those were not terrible. Assuming that the max starting value for his stats worked somewhat similar to what he knew, then the max would be somewhere in the 15 to 20 range. Though he thought this with a lot of hope, as this didn’t really fit with the INT and WIS requirements of 20 for the Bloodluster class.
The description did mention “in other’s eyes” though, and considering how short and vague the description was, this had to be important. Did this imply a social aspect to his abilities? Was he only as strong as other’s saw him? Maybe he just seemed weak because he hadn’t met anyone yet.
And then there’s the TEMP stat, which he had no idea how to even tackle. Ignoring for a second that he didn’t even know what it stood for, and the System didn’t seem to want to help him figure it out, or anything for that matter. He had tried everything to interact with it, things that he’d read before, things that seemed to make sense, thinking things, shouting out what he wanted, and many other approaches. None of it worked. It almost felt like he was only connected to the System in the brief second where he went from not knowing things to feeling like he’d always known things, and after that, all of what felt like System interactions were just memories of these singular instances.
Going back to the TEMP stat, what could it even represent? And what did it being in the negative mean for him? Did it stand for temporary? Temper? Temptation? Template? Temporal given the potential time relation his abilities would have? Suddenly, as he was in the middle of thinking about this, he felt a sharp pain in his face and his body completely halted.
After getting over being stunned for a moment, he tried to figure out what could be causing that pain. He knew he’d been walking aimlessly this whole time, but he hadn’t realized the extent of how distracted he’d gotten. He finally decided to focus on where he was, and looked up, only to realize that he had bumped directly into a hulking, muscular frame. Even worse, this green giant was glaring down at him, teeth bared, and it wasn’t happy. As he was processing this, he noticed three things.
First, as soon as he looked at the creature’s face, he felt his link to the System briefly reengage. Second, immediately following this he became aware that this was a Level 12 Ogre he was looking at, and he also now knew that Ogres were hostile to humans on sight. And finally, though it definitely should not have been the final thing he processed, was the fact that a humongous wooden club was barreling directly toward his head, and was only inches away.
