~~~Sadoc 14th~~~
I awoke in the crib, once again with a headache. This seems to be a trend lately, however lets hope it doesn't remain one. I sit up noticing that its late in the night, and that its awfully quiet. Far different from usual where there's usually at least some noise whether it be sweeping or the passing gossip. But its silent, not even a chirp of a cricket. There's a very unsettling, sickly feeling about in the air.
In the corner of my vision I can see a flashing icon of which I can only assume is something from the system, so I focus on the icon and it brings up a menu I've never seen before,
Hm... Well its not hard to know the language came from the book, does this mean I can also learn other languages in a similar fashion? That will need further study I suppose, well the only logical step would be to agree to the synchronization? As soon as I come to that conclusion I focus on the yes, and when I do so I feel the world spinning. Not the type I get when I faint but as if I was on a merry-go-round, I fall backwards and lay sprawled on my back looking at the mobile until the dizziness subsides and my head feels full with new knowledge to digest.
I've learned the language but I haven't fully comprehended it, that may take some time but for now I should be able to make out simple words. After all of that was over I decided I should try to sleep until later, or at least until its not dark out still. As soon as that thought crosses my mind I notice from the corner of my eye someone crouching in the corner of my room. They're dressed in all black with an insignia that resembles a rose growing around a old fashioned scythe.
Well that can't be good can it? An assassin, a sickly silent night. All the signs point to a cliche assassination plot. And there's nothing I can do about it is there? I'm pretty sure if I cry out he'll move immediately. And I don't think.... Wait... I bring up my abilities , as it seems he wont move for a little while as long as I don't move too much.
---------------------
I begin to take note of something... It doesn't specify that it has to be a physical word? I begin to subtly look around to see if there is something I can test this on as, in case it doesn’t work I don't want to alert the assassin in the corner. I look at the sheets and cast Analyze.
------Soft sheets----
A set of soft freshly washed sheets
--------------------------------------------------------
Noticing the name being something I can possibly change and actually notice the change, I decide to take the risk after all, it either works or it doesn’t. I cast cut on the word Soft and immediately I notice the change, the sheets begin to rustle slightly as if I’m moving in them then suddenly it stops and I carefully feel the sheets, noting that they are no longer as soft or smell as fresh as they did prior. As soon as it’s finished I’m greeted by a notification from the system.
I consider my options and chose the temporary storage as its not worth it keeping it permanently however it can help in the short term. As soon as I do that the popup disappears and I’m left to ponder my next move. I quickly recall the assassins status, trying to think of the best use of my ability. Realistically I could take one of the abilities however they would notice and not to mention they wouldn't make much if any difference.
I mean they’re already in the room with presumably a weapon. So even if I do remove an ability it wont do much. Before I decide on editing anything I cast Cut on their High speed ability as that seems it could be potentially useful in the future, not to mention it adds stats. After I cut it I put it into the permanent words section saving it for future things
However, back to the main point. Maybe if I edit one of the abilities it can cause a result? The only ones that could possibly affect them directly would be Deft Hands and Deft feet. Maybe if I replace the deft in one or the other it could result in something?
Only one way to find out. I cast Edit and replace the Deft in Deft Feet with soft immediately causing a result, the assassin who was crouched over in the corner immediately fell over due to the balls in his ankles twisting. They let out a barely audible gasp, before beginning to slowly crawl towards the crib. He seems confused, I think by me cutting the High Speed ability he’s not moving as fast as he’s normally able to and its confusing him.
Since I have roughly a minute I begin to cry out as loud as I can. This is so weird I have yet to actually cry yet aside from the first day here and this would be my first time. I hear off in the hallway someone running quickly to the room. However I'm unsure if they’ll make it in time, so I look over the edge of the crib facing away from the assassin, there’s nothing in the way so I climb over it and quickly crawl as far away from them as possible. As soon as I crawl further away the assassin reached the crib, and just as they reached it I heard the door burst open with a gruff voice saying what I can barely make out to be,
“Who are you! Stay where you are and don't move!”
