“So you all have done something to end up in my office. What it is doesn’t matter, all that matters is that you learn to do better.”
As Braelyn sat listening to Mrs.Johnson speak all she could think is that she had better things to do. Looking to her left she saw her brother Carson, seemingly he had the same thought given how bored he looked. Then again all of the five students in the room looked horribly bored. Then the explosions drew their collective attention. As all the heads in the room turned to look out the window they saw massive black and red clouds in the distance one cloud being smoke and the other being something else. As Mrs.Johnson approached the window, the shockwave hit shattering the window immediately. As the shards of glass were launched inwards one slashed across Mrs.Johnson’s throat causing blood to spurt out. Another piece of glass slammed into Avery’s head killing him instantly. Thankfully the rest of the glass shards slammed into the ground or walls harmlessly. Screaming Braelyn stood up and began backing away from the window. “What the fuck?!” Carson screamed behind her. As the clouds began to make their way towards the school. Braelyn snapped out of her stupor and began running for the door. “We have to go people! That smoke and shit is moving this way and there are respirators in the engineering room!” Braelyn shouted as she hauled open the door. Running down the hall Braelyn heard footsteps behind her, turning she saw that Carson and one other student were following her. Approaching the stairs Braelyn slowed down from a full sprint to a jog. As she made her way down the stairs however she took them four at a time. Reaching the bottom of the stairs she began to sprint once more. At the end of the hall Braelyn saw the door to the engineering room, it was thankfully ajar. Skidding to a stop she panted infront of the door to the engineering classroom as she waited for Carson and the other student to catch up she felt the building shake and heard a gargled scream from somewhere in the school. As Carson and the other student caught up to her Braelyn saw a cloud of red smog slowly falling down the stairs. Panic building Braelyn ran into the engineering classroom and sprinted over to the cabinet that holds the respirators. Swinging it open she saw that there was three masks. Grabbing one off the hook she quickly put it on and tossed one to Carson as he entered the room. As carson put it on the red smog began to come through the doorway and as Braelyn watched in horror she saw the other student stumble into the classroom. Deftly Braelyn grabbed the last mask and tossed it over to the student who quickly put it on. As the student finished putting on the mask Carson slammed the door shut and took off his sweatshirt before shoving his sweatshirt under the crack in the door. Smog beginning to leak through cracks in the door Braelyn heard that same gargled scream, yet it was closer now. Carson began to pace and the yet unnamed student began to cry. Worried Braelyn walked over to the scrap metal shelf and grabbed an old metal pipe. Carson seeing what she was doing ran over to the tool wall and grabbed a maul and a chisel. Walking over to the crying student Carson handed them the chisel and then stood to the side of the door. Suddenly there was a massive bang against the door and everyone in the room froze.

There was then a noise of agony and rage blended into one horrid screech. In preparation for the inevitable breach Carson raised his maul above his head, Braelyn readied her pipe and the crying student stood before flipping the chisel into a back hand grip. There was another bang at the door, this one leaving a dent in it. As the thing on the other side of the door kept banging on the door, knocking it farther ajar with each hit, the crying student approached the tool wall and grabbed a screwdriver before returning to their position a few feet in front of the door. Then the door broke. As the door split they all saw a horrid sight of the one student who stayed behind, they were twisted however with red stains covering their body, scraps of flesh hanging from their mouth and large boney protrusions emerging from their hands. In a flash the thing, no longer human, dove for the unnamed student and in a blink of an eye said student sidestepped and buried their screwdriver in the back of the creature. Screaming, the creature whirled around and stabbed the student in the shoulder. Seeing her chance Braelyn swung her pipe and it slammed into the back of the creatures head. It then screamed again and swung around swinging it’s now bloody claws at her head. Deftly Braelyn dodged backwards and hurled her pipe at the things head. As it hit the thing in the forehead there was a sickening crunch and the creature staggered. As it seemingly fumbled for a grip on where it was Carson swung his maul and decapitated the creature, blood spraying the the stump of it’s neck. Falling over the thing began to bloat, blood flow ceasing. Carson suddenly screamed,”GET DOWN!” And dove for the cover of a desk. Braelyn one step behind, dove through the gap in the door and as she did the corpse detonated. In an explosion of bone, blood and spores the thing detonated the bone shrapnel tore into her leg and tore the unnamed student to shreds. As her consciousness began to go in and out with the pulses of pain Braelyn managed to utter a single word,”Fuck.” Then it all went black.
