Chapter 6: Boundless Talent

Chapter 6: Boundless Talent

“Wake up! Elizabeth, wake up!” a familiar voice rouses Elizabeth from her sleep. The voice is shouting for her to wake up. Opening her eyes, Elizabeth sees Felicia with a pouting face. It seems Elizabeth is back into her memories.

“Felicia, why are you waking me up so early? What time is it?” Despite knowing that she’s in one of her memories, Elizabeth can’t help but speak, as if she’s watching a movie in a 1st person point of view.

“IT’S ALREADY LATE! THE FIRST CLASS IS STARTING NOW” Elizabeth opens her eyes wide and takes in the large room, where both of them sleep.

It is a spectacularly large and very expensive room, decorated with equally large and very expensive furniture.

'What happened?' Elizabeth starts to dig around her memories.

Looking back, Elizabeth remembers what happened.

After the checking of talents, the small sect that found her, tried to hide her along with the group of children whose talents evolved because of Elizabeth but news like this, could not be hidden.

Eventually extremely powerful and large sects found out and went to contest over this child of heaven.

After a heated exchange between the powerful sects, it was decided that all the children would be given a choice.

Since all of them were extremely powerful sects, they could provide near endless supplies and favor to the talented batch of children.

So, the children chose the sects that favored them when it came to their talents. When all the children, except Elizabeth and Felicia, have chosen the sect they wanted to join, the sects started fighting again on who will take Elizabeth.

Eventually to silence all the other sects, Elizabeth and Felicia chose the Heavenly Lord sect, a sect whose patriarch ascended into immortal-hood and then ascended a second time to become a heavenly lord.

When asked why she chose the Heavenly Lord sect, she answered.

“The nice handsome man in my dreams told me so”

When the sects asked what the man looked like, the answer made the sects concede.

The man was none other than the Heavenly lord himself.

No one, not even the most powerful of immortals can go against the word of a Heavenly lord. Going against a Heavenly Lord is going against the heavens itself.

Eventually, Elizabeth and Felicia became the twin prime disciples of the sect master itself.

“Then let’s go!” Elizabeth wakes up to prepare herself. After 5 minutes of cleaning and grooming, Elizabeth goes out with Felicia to their first class.

“Do you think our teacher will be bad?” Felicia asks with the usual innocence of a young teenager. Elizabeth looks at her familiar friend. Her appearance is extremely reminiscent of Narissa, except younger.

It must be a coincidence.

Elizabeth ponders on her friend’s question.

“I’m not sure, but we need to be prepared and if our teacher is bad, we could try and ask for another teacher.” Felicia smiles at Elizabeth's answer.

Once Elizabeth and Felicia leaves the room, a young man that’s probably around 26 years old is waiting for them. When the man notices them, he immediately comes and bows his head.

“Lady Elizabeth and Lady Felicia, please follow me. The master is waiting for both of you.” Elizabeth and Felicia smiles and follows the young man.

The man easily traverses the large main building, while both of the girls gawk at the sights.

When Elizabeth and Felicia pass through a balcony, they see the major expanse of the sect.

The sect is built on the side of a mountain range. Looking past the main mountain, there is a total of 40 mountains.

The whole mountain range is dominated by sect.

Elizabeth and Felicia lives in the main mountain which was said to be the place where the founder ascended.

Large rows of buildings form on the side of the mountain range and all of the buildings are made out of sturdy and extremely strong materials. Beautifying the mountain is thousands of beautiful trees and each one of them is emanating energy that could easily sustain two cities.

The whole mountain range is covered by a transparent golden dome capable of shielding thousands upon thousands of nuclear bombs, planet sized meteors, and even a concentrated beam of laser from the sun that can wipe out all life on the planet.

Cultivators of different realms, positions, and jobs walk around.

They were some that were conversing and some were even exchanging tips.

The whole sect is brimming with life.

*Ahem*

“Lady Elizabeth, please we need to go. The master is waiting.” Elizabeth apologizes and starts to follow but keeps looking back to stare at the beautiful scenery, impossible to experience at a modern place like Mercury City.

After reaching a large empty room that’s devoid of flashy furniture and overlooks an outdoor pond with a small water fall, the young man bows and leaves.

"We are here Lady Elizabeh and Lady Felicia."

Elizabeth and Felicia sits on the clean mats set on the wooden floor.

In front of them is the wide back of a man sitting and staring at his beautiful garden.

“Did you know that the founder is my master?” Elizabeth and Felicia look at each other and speak respectfully.

“No sir”

“It is not a secret but it is also not common knowledge. The founder was my teacher, master, and…” The sect master pauses as if looking longingly throughout the skies. “Father”

“He ascended when he deemed me ready to succeed in his place. I succeeded him as the sect master, but eventually I reached the same level he did when he ascended but I chose not to, not yet. He made me promise that before I ascend, I must find a proper disciple that I will impart my teachings upon.” A sad aura as thick as air starts to emanate from the sect master.

“I found one. He was a good disciple. He was talented, hardworking, and very attentive but he had a problem. Despite all of his good traits, he became prideful. He became blinded by his power, his background, and his talent. I imparted my teachings upon him, thinking that all of this was a phase. I was wrong. He became so blinded by his pride, when he reached the highest heights of cultivation, he attacked me. He said that I was the ultimate goal, defeating me means becoming the strongest. I who has stayed here in the lower realms for hundreds of thousands of years have already become too strong to stay here. My very presence sends ripples that threaten to rip apart this reality. I have to limit my cultivation or else I will be forcefully ascended. With a heavy heart, I released my cultivation for a moment shocking my disciple. I easily defeated him but I could not deal the final blow.”

The sect master doesn’t continue and turns around. A young man in his twenties stares at the two teenagers in front of him.

“I will teach both of you, but be warned I will be strict and far less doting than I was with him. I will make absurd requests and I will make you suffer the most painful and excruciating training but I tell you, if you can survive I will make the both of you soar like a roc, ferocious as a tiger, and as strong as a dragon. So will you two accept me as your master?”

The powerful voice of the sect master emanates extreme power. As if his words itself could shatter space and even bend time.

The two young teenagers kowtow and bow deeply to the sect master.

“YES MASTER!” The sect master smiles, like how a gardener finds two good seedlings.

“Both of you are to call me master Bai”

“Yes master Bai!”

“Before we start the actual teaching process, I must personally take a look at your talents.” Master Bai beckons for Felicia to come near him.

Elizabeth looks intently while Felicia nervously walks towards Master Bai.

Master Bai reaches out to hold Felicia’s forearm. Energy leaks out of Master Bai’s fingers, deeply embedding itself onto Felicia’s forearms.

Felicia gasps with a little pain but endures it.

After a few seconds, Master Bai retracts the energy. When he releases Felicia’s grasps, he holds his palm in front of her face.

A golden phoenix wreathed with divine lightning appears in his grasp. The manifested talent glows brightly, as the beautiful golden phoenix flies around Master Bai’s hands.

“You’re talent is the divine golden phoenix. You are the third person in all of the ages to have received its mark, allowing you to cultivate its power. It is the second child of the Xakan, the firstborn of the heavenly lord Vilnean. Xakan was called the God of air. When he achieved enlightenment through air, he breathed out his four children, all unparalleled in the skies. The first child was called the Infinite Dragon, the second was the Divine Golden Phoenix, the third was the Space Lord Kun Peng, and the last was the World Eclipse Roc. Their strength was not equal, with the dragon being the strongest and the roc the weakest. The phoenix was only second to her brother in terms of power. Once you cultivate your talent, you will be able to exert a boundless amount of vigor. You will never lose against anyone when it comes to stamina and your infinite regeneration will never allow you to be defeated but other than the endless regeneration, you can exert unparalleled control over any element. The Phoenix was named the undying bird for a reason. It’s not because of its endless regeneration, but because it’s so powerful almost nothing can kill it.”

The sparkles in Felicia’s eyes grow brighter with every word Master Bai speaks.

“Return” Felicia returns back to her spot near Elizabeth, but her awe-struck face doesn’t waver the whole time.

“And you, the supposed child of heaven.” Master Bai calls Elizabeth. Master Bai does the same procedure with Elizabeth. Once done checking Elizabeth, Master Bai furrows his eyebrows, confused.

After a few minutes, Master Bai’s face makes a bitter expression.

“I don’t know what talent this is. In all my years of living, combined with all the knowledge I’ve studied and learned, I don’t know what talent this is. I apologize, but this talent of yours is something I’ve never seen before and I think something this world has never seen before.”

Elizabeth’s face becomes gloomy, but it’s immediately washed away by Master Bai’s next words.

“The fact that I don’t know about it, or the fact that your talent evolved Felicia’s, means that your talent is both boundless and unparalleled.”

“Your talent will never be equaled in this age or the age before and after.”

“Your talent is Boundless”

----------------------------------------

Lying in her room, Elizabeth stirs awake.

Opening her eyes, the first thing she notices is the sticky yellowish liquid covering her body.

Raising her hand in disgust, Elizabeth notices that her body is sticking to the bed.

Despite this, Elizabeth isn't annoyed or angry.

Elizabeth would have been more disgusted if not for what she’s currently feeling.

Closing her eyes, Elizabeth looks inside her core, a term she found in her new memories. Every cultivator has a core hidden inside their body and that core is an orb filled with the cultivator’s energy.

Its appearance depends on the cultivation, talent, and energy purity of the cultivator. Elizabeth’s core appears to be golden with countless beautiful golden feathers floating constantly, rotating around her core. After carefully looking, Elizabeth notices that each feather is beautifully decorated.

Some of her feathers, despite golden, have an unmistakable sheen of red, some have blue, and some have multiple colors, but each of them have the unmistakable glow of an element, whether it be lightning, fire or water, the feathers have it.

Despite the divine appearance of her core, the inside is extremely mundane. The inside of her core is an empty blank space with an unmistakable small ball of pure white energy floating in the middle.

After looking around her memories, Elizabeth can tell that this small ball of energy is the sign of breaking through the first realm of cultivating.

Opening her eyes, Elizabeth jumps out of bed in excitement, almost forgetting the disgusting liquid coating her body.

Almost.

Elizabeth walks towards the bathroom and opens the door but she doesn’t realize that her new strength, along with her excitement, is too much and slightly bends the doorknob.

Furrowing her eyebrow, Elizabeth goes in slowly but another accident occurs, as she slightly bends the switch of the shower.

Sighing, Elizabeth does everything slowly and meticulously until she gets used to her new strength.

The rest of Elizabeth’s evening goes like this.

----------------------------------------

The smell of burning flesh fills the air as a short person walks through a burning village, that seems rundown even before it started burning. The man gleefully treads through the burning wasteland stepping on the burnt corpses strewn around. The man is none other than agent Lucas.

“Ahhhhh, I just love the smell of death everywhere.” Agent Lucas gleefully stretches, as if oblivious to the living nightmare surrounding him.

"Maybe I should start a restaurant, I'm good at this."
