Chapter 13: A True Genius

Chapter 13: A True Genius

Elder Kang gently laid the passed out child on a cot in one of the Sect’s few prison cells.

With the boy's current cultivation, he should be fine for a while. It is probably for the best that we leave him unconscious until we decide what to do with him.

Kang put a sleeping pill in the boy's mouth and considered adding even more restraints but then shook his head. Turning around, he walked out of the cell

Time to go see what my brothers’ and sisters’ take on these weird circumstances.

Felix let himself be pulled up to the Martial technique floor by Xue.

Not like I have much choice. What is this ridiculous strength?

He could barely move fast enough to avoid stumbling. Finally, they made it and Felix took a deep breath of relief.

Looking none the worse for wear, Xue left her hand in front of Felix.

“Give the jade here,” she said.

A little nonplussed, Felix handed it over to Xue. She pressed it to her forehead. Felix waited awkwardly for a few minutes as she perused the content. When she was done, she held the jade in one hand and tapped it on the other. A small frown could be seen crossing her face.

“You’ve made an interesting choice junior brother Felix,” said Xue as she scanned the rows of books. “This martial technique seems to be focused on the creation and control of a sword of earth energy and sword essence. Though it is obviously a sword technique, the manual only focuses on the creation of the sword energy, how to refine it, and a simple stab technique.” She glances at Felix. “It also has some weird properties. When I have a chance, I will have to read this Heavenly Earth manual.”

Xue's figure blurred as she took a step forward and began leafing through various books, yet her voice sounded out clearly.

“Sword cultivation is about understanding the why of the sword and realizing it as sword essence. Don’t ask me what that means, I am not a sword cultivator.”

Felix jumped as a book flew at him but then awkwardly shuffled in place when the book landed gently at his feet.

“An essential part of that is sword techniques. Sword techniques are the how of the sword. The techniques I am giving you are either generic, can relate to a specific part of your technique, or are a style of fighting I think you should consider.”

Xue then went silent for a few moments as she moved around the room. Then she stopped next to him and put one more book down to make ten in total. "This last technique is about wielding a remote energy sword and an actual sword. While it is crap, it should give some basics for your technique."

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

Felix was still trying to catch up with everything. After a moment he collected himself

"Senior Sister Xue, wouldn't it be better for me to choose the manuals?”

Xue rolled her eyes.

"You need to learn to trust your senior sister. I am not saying you shouldn't read and explore more techniques. If you decide you need a different technique, then look for one. However, these will give you a foundation on which to make better choices.”

She brought her arm up to flick his forehead but then seemed to change her mind.

“Besides, I had to read a whole bunch of techniques and cultivation methods when I created my own cultivation manual. I am perhaps one of the top experts in the sect on choosing manuals."

At those words, sister Xue puffed out her chest in pride.

Bullshit, I am not going to let my foundation be chosen due to your pride

"Could I see the cultivation technique?” asked Felix.

Xue paused, clearly losing a bit of her steam.

"Well, I suppose that’s alright." She pulled it out of her interspatial ring with a movement and handed it to Felix. "You have to remember that it is still a work in progress, but I assure you it is still one of the best manuals here."

Feeling even more skeptical by her sudden lack of confidence, Felix shrugged and read the title of the cultivation manual.

Diamond of the Blizzard

What the heck kind of name is this? Thought Felix. He barely kept the exasperation from his face. He sent a mental prompt to the system to provide some information.

[Diamond of the Blizzard Eye (Mortal 5)]

Power: Slightly Strong

Comprehension: (0/250)

Stage: Core

Felix felt his jaw drop.

WHAT THE HELL? If the system is consistent then this manual is leagues better than any manual the sect has. At least nothing I saw even came close.

He whipped his head back up to face sister Xue.

“Se-senior sister Xue, you said you made this?”

Xue was a little taken aback by Felix's reaction to just reading the cover.

“Well yes. None of the manuals here fit my… circumstances. So, I decide to make my own.”

Felix just stared at her.

Fuck Heavenly Earth! Dammit, I already wasted some KE points. I would have saved them if I knew something like this would just drop into my lap. I need to learn this no matter the cost.

Felix suddenly bowed while holding the book to his chest.

“Senior Xue, please let me use this cultivation manual.

Xue just continued to stare confusedly at Felix. She had sensed his trepidation when she first handed him the manual.

“I am not sure why you want to suddenly use my manual, but you couldn’t use it even if you wanted to.”

“I think I can understand it if given a chance. Please just let me.”

Xue shook her head.

“It is not a matter of understanding but more that you literally can’t use the cultivation method. That method is curtailed to several unique things about me. For one, it requires the wielder to be female and have three specific spiritual roots: Water, Wind, and Ice. Those are only some of the requirements.

"Are you saying that you have three spiritual roots?"

"Yes".

What kind of Main Character bullshit is this!

Felix stared at her with his still bloodshot eyes until even Xue started to feel uncomfortable. Finally, Felix released a sigh.

If only it were so easy.

“Well, can I at least study it? If you can tell me your thought process when creating it, maybe it will help me.”

Xue seemed to give it some thought “Well maybe later. I am still making corrections and that is the only copy.”

Xue grabbed the manual from his hands and stored it away.

“Now wait a few moments for me to go and get some techniques for myself.”

Xue’s figure once more blurred as she started moving around the room. Felix turned his attention to the stack of books before him.
