Traffic-Inducing Shopping Trip (Shopping Not Included)

They had reached their destination, so Will felt it was best to walk from here. Because as it was now, he looked like he was about to be eaten by a giant snake woman to the casual observer.

“~Let me down for now.~”

Porridge gracefully set him on the ground, and they headed to the market area street, since they'd stopped a few steps away from it.

The people around all did their best to be as little around as possible, straying quite far to the sides. Will felt a bit bad about how much they were disrupting traffic, since the habit of staying away applied for most of Porridge's tail too. And with how long Porridge's tail was…

Well, whatever. More importantly, he was starting to see an issue.

Porridge was fucking massive. And the stores around here were less so. A woman twelve feet tall would've been a challenge on its own, but she also had a stupid long snake tall as well.

He could always just leave Porridge in the beast space, but he didn't actually know her real size. He could use the Copy and Embed functions to help him get clothes big enough for her, but he also just didn't want to put her in the beast space right now.

He wanted to go shopping with friends like people did in the other world. Since he'd never gotten a chance to. And even if her size was inconvenient, Porridge was his friend.

This whole excursion was just his whim, anyway. Not doing what he wanted would remove the whole point of being here at all.

And so he continued down the street. Though he kept his pace relatively low, since if Porridge went at the speed he usually went at, she'd probably be close enough to a truck to isekai someone.

He had pretty much given up hope of finding an acceptable clothing store, since he could see the buildings here, and none of them looked Porridge-sized. He was just kind of doing it for fun at this point.

It was probably a bit selfish to disrupt traffic like this, but this was a xianxia world, so it wasn't really that bad comparatively. He wasn't actually hurting anyone, just inconveniencing them.

It was a shame no young masters would appear to accost him over it though. Since anyone with enough background to think about messing with a giant snake woman tamer was probably warned about him.

Porridge had made quite an impact on the elders yesterday, and even though Porridge wasn't as strong as she was then, they didn't know that. Plus, since the fear extended to their own lives, the chances of a defiant young master slipping through the cracks were pretty much nil.

The ware-hawking had died down a bit ever since he showed up, but it didn't go away, with hawkers farther ahead going strong and a few brave ones nearby continuing as well. He heard one of the brave ones say something about spiritual water and was suddenly reminded of his thirst. He decided to head over and buy some.

“I'd wike some spirituaw water.”

The man running the spiritual water stand was brave enough to hawk wares in spite of Will's presence, but he wasn't quite brave enough for this. He brought out a big clear jug of glowy water and put it on the counter.

“Here you go, ma'am.”

He didn't say how much it was. That was because he didn't want to get eaten by a giant snake woman.

“Hewe.”

Will dropped a small pile of spirit stones that looked better than the others on the table and took his third hand out of his pocket, using it to pick up the jug by the handle. Once he brought it to his level, he took off the top, and started drinking.

Everyone who was watching the scene looked on in a mix of confusion and horror. Spiritual water like this had a variety of uses. Chugging it straight from the jug was not one of them. Since doing that would just cause qi deviation. Not to mention how much of a waste it was.

Will didn't care about this. Spiritual it may be, it was still water, so his thirst was sated. It also tasted pretty good.

After having his fill, he put the jug in his ring and carried on, Porridge following close behind. She wasn't really sure what was happening, but she would follow Will unless he told her to do something else.

Though it seemed like it from a human perspective, she wasn't really that subservient to Will or anything. It was just that Will didn't really ask her for anything that big. She just had to go fast, which was something she enjoyed doing, and not cause trouble. Humans weren't really that tasty or filling, so not eating them was pretty easy as well.

She'd honestly been expecting a lot worse when she'd accepted the contract. Like fighting strong enemies or being kept cooped up somewhere. But the only time she'd been asked to fight anything was more like Will just giving her a toy to play with.

The rest of the walk down the market street was pretty uneventful. There were no buildings big enough, and there was no one starting drama with them.

Porridge hissed.

“~Weren't you gonna get me something to wear?~”

“~Didn't see any stores you could fit in.~”

“~Oh. Why did you wanna get me something to wear, anyway?~”

He hadn't really thought about that much. He just kind of took it as a given. He decided to think about it more.

After thinking about it, he came to a conclusion.

He'd seen multiple people who didn't look fully human, with animal features and stuff. Those individuals were treated like humans as far as he could tell. He didn't know where exactly the line was drawn on that, and he was pretty sure he wasn't alone in that.

Porridge wasn't basically a human but with some non-human features, she was a monster with some human features. Or, more specifically, Porridge wasn't a human with their legs replaced with a snake tail, but a snake with a human torso replacing its head.

But that kind of distinction wasn't really something one could see at a casual look. Whether someone considered her a beast or pretty much a human would more likely be based on her size or perceived intelligence. Which meant some people would assume she fell into the pretty much a human category.

That meant if Porridge just went around shirtless all the time, these people would see it as him having a human person walk around naked like a tamed beast. Which looked bad.

He'd be like a rich young lady who forced a maid to act like a dog after her parents said she couldn't get a real one.

Even if Porridge learned to speak human and told them she didn't mind, that would just make them think he'd brainwashed a human into thinking of themselves as a tamed beast. Which would probably be worse.

In fact, he was starting to regret this whole outing at this point.

“~It's actually really important because if you don't have clothes they'll basically think I'm treating a human like a dog.~”

Porridge was confused.

“~But I'm not a human and you don't treat me like a dog.~”

“~But it *looks* like that.~”

She didn't really get it, but chalked it up to not understanding human culture.

“~For now, stay in the beast space, please. Okay?~”

“~Sure.~”

Will sent her into the beast space after copying a 3D model with size included.

He breathed a sigh of relief, then ran at full speed back to the fanciest tailor he'd seen on his walk and rushed inside, heading to the first staff member he saw.

“I need cwothes fow a weawwy big woman with no legs!”

The staff member had a few theories about what had happened. Like perhaps this kid's big sister got her clothes ruined.

The last part stomped on those theories as it walked over and hit her in the face with a brick. No legs? What happened to the big woman's legs? It was very worrying.

She forced a polite business smile and headed off to talk to her superiors.

After a few minutes of anxious waiting, she came back with an older looking man with glasses.

“You said you needed clothes for… a large woman without legs?”

Will nodded furiously.

“Yes!”

“Could I maybe see this woman?”

Will shook his head, then paused and started nodding.

He exported a paper with a picture of Porridge on it.

Looking at the picture, the two both understood the circumstances. They'd both seen the giant snake woman pass by. It would be pretty hard not to, considering the front wall was mostly windows.

Though they understood the no legs part now, they still didn't get the panic. Why would she suddenly need clothes in a hurry after she just got done walking through the whole market area without them?

But that wasn't important. They needed to make clothes for a giant woman with a snake tail.

The older man asked Will for the payment, then had to explain that the amount provided wasn't enough because Will didn't actually understand how spirit stones worked and gave him too little. It took three tries until Will finally got it right, after which they got to work.

It took an hour, and Will was pretty bored during it even while playing on his phone. At least there was some complimentary tea that was pretty good.

The clothes he'd requested were brought out for him to check out. He took a look.

There were a few things. There were three different dresses that probably looked nice, and there were a bunch of undergarments. At least he assumed they were. He recognized the bras, but the other things weren't anything he recognized. Well, it didn't matter. She only really needed a bra, since she didn't actually have any other parts.

Which, now that he thought about it, probably meant her snake mitosis had become lamia mitosis, which was honestly creepier.

He took all of the clothing, anyway. He had no real reason not to.

Now that he had the clothes he needed, he headed into the forest. Not too deep, just deep enough to not be seen. Once he felt satisfied with the location, he brought out Porridge from the beast space. As soon as he began to bring out the clothes from his ring, Porridge hissed at him.

“~Since you seemed really worried about it, I tried to see if there was anything I could do, and found this.~”

Looking closer at her, Will noticed that she was kind of technically depending on definition not naked anymore. She was wearing armor made out of scales.

She had some of her back covered, the bottom half of her chest covered, and that was about it. It had the same dark blue color as her tail did. It would probably offer a lot of defense in a video game, but he doubted that was the case here. Well, the defensive capabilities didn't really matter for something like Porridge.

It fulfilled its role of being clothing, and that was what mattered. Though it also made his panicked clothes shopping feel a bit meaningless now.

Honestly, now that he thought about it, there was a good chance regular clothes would get ruined as soon as she went fast, since she got all zappy when she did.

“~Is that the only style you can make that in?~”

She nodded.

“~Just this.~”

Well, whatever.

With the clothing problem out of the way, next came the martial arts problem. Checking his points, they hadn't gone up enough to buy anything good. It wasn't surprising, since Ranna probably would've killed Chen Jun if he hadn't.

He'd probably have to talk with the sect leader about the martial arts issue, then. Which meant it was back to the grumpy old man to give her a call.

He arrived at the Spiritual Affairs Bureau in a few minutes, mostly because he was messing around with his space drag ability to do cool tricks like backflips and midair spins and stuff.

Once he got there, he sent a message through the grumpy old man and the sect leader arrived in a couple minutes. Will put Porridge in the beast space and hopped on her sword.

“Can I get a martiaw art fow Porridge to pwactice?”

The sect leader sighed.

“Sure.”

She was a bit hesitant to give a monster that strong martial arts as well, but she doubted martial arts would be the deciding factor in a win for that thing. It didn't really matter what move it did when it was so fast no one could see it.

Will smiled.

“Thanks!”

She sighed again.

“You're welcome.”

It was on their side anyway, right? So it getting stronger was a good thing. Probably.

After arriving at the house the sect leader asked a question.

“What kind of weapon do you want martial arts for?”

Will considered the matter. He hadn't really thought about it.

The spear seemed like the classic choice for snake-tailed women, but she was also a giant as well, so a really big sword would fit pretty nicely, too. But those were also both a bit played out as well. He didn't want to go for a blunt weapon in case she had an ability that would let her use her venom through a weapon. A whip wouldn't be good since it would clash with her tail (in an aesthetic sense). A short weapon wouldn't fit well because of her size.

Maybe a scythe? Scythes were cool. He could make the end out of a snake fang, too. That sounded good.

“Do you have scythe awts?”

The sect leader nodded.

“So you'd like scythe arts, then?”

Will nodded.

“Do you… need a scythe, too?”

Will shook his head.

“So you're saying you have a big enough scythe, just… on hand?”

Will shook his head.

“Gonna make one.”

Well, that was that, then. The sect leader set off to go get a manual for scythe arts, leaving Will to plan out the scythe he would make. He checked his rings for materials. He didn't really have much that seemed useful. He'd probably have to get more, then.

Well, for now he could just use the Export function to make a wooden model for Porridge to practice with. There were a few trees around up here, so after designing a model in his mind, he went over to one and used it as the physical medium for an export.

What was once a tree was instantly replaced with a giant stick with a huge fang on the side. He brought out Porridge to show her.

“~This is the prototype model for your new weapon.~”

Porridge looked at the fang scythe thing with excitement. She'd wanted to swing a weapon around ever since she'd gotten hands. She reached down and picked it up.

It was really light, and the stick part was a good width. She was quite satisfied with it.

Will was happy to see she liked it, since that export had cost pretty much all his points. And a tree.

He was pretty sure they were just regular trees, though, so he wasn't too worried. Plus, there were a lot more. So it'd be fine.

He probably should've asked, first, but it was too late for that now. He didn't have enough points to turn it back into a tree.

He decided to stay here until the sect leader came back and apologize.

After playing on his phone while practicing his sword moves for a bit, the sect leader returned. She examined the scene before her in an attempt to decipher it. Will was doing a weird gross thing, the giant snake woman was looking at some weird fang scythe thing made entirely out of wood, and there was a suspicious patch of dirt.

Will interrupted her examination.

“Sowwy for using your twee without permission.”

Using her tree… What?

“What?”

“Your twee. I used one of your twees to make that scythe.”

He pointed at the wooden scythe Porridge was holding.

The sect leader was still confused. That wasn't how carpentry worked. And it had only been a few minutes, too.

She decided to ignore it. The tree wasn't important, anyway. While it was technically spiritual, it wasn't in any way that mattered. She'd just have to do something about the patch of dirt left behind.

With that settled, she passed Will the manual she'd picked and left.

Will copied and embedded the manual. It was certainly scythe arts. Though there were a lot of cutting and slicing moves. And the scythe he designed didn't have a blade. Well, that was easily solved by, well, adding a blade. But that could wait for the real one.

The front of the book read Simple Harvest. It really leaned into the farming tool aspect of the scythe, written in the same gibberish style as always, only with a lot of references to harvests and farming.

He translated it all into an easily digestible format for Porridge and sent it over the link. Porridge took a bit to get what was going on, but with Will's reformatting, even she could understand. And so, she immediately decided to try out the techniques.

Her results were… well, she certainly wasn't a genius. Actually, she was worse than Will. Though it wasn't really a big surprise considering she didn't even have arms a few days ago.

Rather, Will was actually pretty happy about it. Since it meant he wasn't the least talented anymore.

Will started on his way towards his room, Porridge following behind him. When he got to his room, he distinctly noted the non-Porridge-sized door. Which begged the question of how she had exited the room earlier today.

He couldn't figure it out, so he just sent Porridge into the beast space and brought her in that way. Conveniently, the scythe went with her. But more than it was convenient, it was exciting.

If the scythe could go with her, it was a fact that pretty much anything else could. There were almost certainly restrictions on it, but he could easily bypass them no matter what they were. Sadly, it didn't seem to be that broken, since he already had storage rings.

Will and Porridge spent the rest of the day practicing their martial arts.
