Hello, it's been a while but I'm back. I finally regained my account after months. I won't lie, it did impact my morale on the book because while I was away, I was busy with other novels which I post on Inkitt, Wattpad, and Patreon.
They're smutty BTW so I can't post them here.

My heart hurts a little but I do not show it.
Turning my head away, I whisper, "Please leave. I want to be alone."
"Alone?" Gale echoes grabbing my chin to make me face him. "You want to kick me out after a date with that scum? What a good reception you got here."

My eyes harden into a glare that tells him at least a quarter of what is in my head. I want him gone so I can process things all over again.
Stan was right. Gale is monitoring me.
His reasons for doing this do not matter because it's still a breach of my privacy.
This has me thinking about this very apartment I was given: could it be another cage I'm living in?
"I asked you to move in so we can be closer to each other like bef-" He instantly holds back the words he was about to spill in what looked like a strained effort to conceal something.
Like before? Before what?
I never lived with him unless during school breaks, when Cindy would invite me over to their old house.
"Don't you want to give this a try, Maya? Think about all the things I can give you. You will never need to work a day in your life or deal with unnecessary things that may stress you. You will have the money to buy anything you want and the power over millions of people in the country. What more are you looking for?"
Silence.
Everything he has mentioned is related to money. He thinks that all I need is money to live a good life. Well, he's not entirely wrong. But, the way he has just said it makes it feel as if I'm another gold digger who needs money and power to live well.
