Chapter 6: "All-Seer's Tale"

Evelina began to tell her story:

"This book tells the life of All-Seer. All-Seer was born into a wealthy aristocratic family. He was very intelligent; by the age of one, he could already speak fluently. His parents were incredibly happy to have such a gifted child. However, when he turned three, his family went bankrupt. Two years later, his parents died of an unknown illness."

"But even before these events occurred, All-Seer already knew they would happen. After the death of his parents, he called himself All-Seer and never used his real name again. All-Seer also saw that the city he lived in would soon face disaster. He told the residents to leave the city, but no one in the city listened to him; instead, they mocked him, considering him a crazy child."

"All-Seer left his city, and a week later, everyone in the city fell ill with a strange disease and died. Leaving his city, All-Seer began to travel the world. Years passed, and ten years went by. All-Seer learned to see through the fate of people, stones, mountains, and trees, and he also discovered that his fate was cursed. Anyone who became close to him would be struck by misfortune because they could not withstand the cursed aura of his fate"

"However, the heavens were not too cruel. At sixteen, in one kingdom, All-Seer saw a princess and was captivated by her. The princess's fate was very unusual; her destiny was not influenced by his own. Her fate was incredibly strong. All-Seer also saw a thread of destiny connecting them."

"From that day on, All-Seer followed the princess everywhere and confessed his love to her more than a hundred times. However, the princess did not want to be bound by anything, especially not by feelings, so she always rejected him. Eventually, the princess could no longer endure his pursuits and told him that if he could make her the strongest person, she would become his wife."

"All-Seer used his ability to see through fate and found a way to fulfill her wish, but the price for this was half of his life. Luck and misfortune always went hand in hand. After making the prediction, his dark hair lost its luster and turned white."

"All-Seer followed his prediction and found a cave. Inside it was a treasure that could make the princess the strongest person. However, the cave was guarded by a magical beast, and an ordinary person would not be able to defeat it. All-Seer used his ability to see through fate once more and found a way to defeat the monster. This time, the price for the prediction was the remaining part of his life."

"All-Seer already knew he had only a few days left to live. Therefore, he did not want to see the princess. Even if they married, what was the point if he could live with her for only a few days? He wanted her to be happy. So, he quietly left the treasure in the princess's room along with a letter explaining how to use it, and a hairpin he had made especially for her."

"A few days later, All-Seer died."

Evelina finished her story.

"And?"

Eleanora felt nothing and was not moved by the story in the slightest. She had read dozens of love stories, so this one did not affect her emotionally.

"He was just so unlucky," said Evelina.

"Is that the whole story?" asked Eleanora.

"No, there are still a few pages left," replied Evelina.

"Alright, read the rest of the book and then tell me about it," said Eleanora.

Evelina read the remaining part of the book in ten minutes and began to tell the rest of the story:

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"A few days after All-Seer's death, the princess used the treasure. Under the treasure's influence, her hair and eyes changed color and became golden. Within a month, she had eradicated the magical beasts that were harming her kingdom. A year later, she traveled across the continent and challenged powerful warriors of various races. She won every battle. After ten years, she became the most powerful being beneath the gods. People called her the Golden Magus."

"However, she was no fool and always knew that all her power had been granted by that one annoying guy who followed her everywhere. After she received the treasure that made her incredibly strong, she realized it had come exactly ten days after she set conditions for that bothersome man."

"She tried to find him everywhere but found no trace of him. He was like a ghost. Everywhere there were even the slightest signs of him, all the witnesses had died for various reasons. Another ten years later, her powers grew again, and she gained the ability to see cause and effect. Through the hairpin he had given her, she traced the causes and effects and found him. However, the only thing she found was his grave. On that day, her unbreakable heroic heart cracked."

"Guilt, self-reproach, and regret gnawed at her soul and mind. If she had looked for him immediately after receiving his gift, maybe he wouldn't have died. Maybe she should have reciprocated his feelings from the very beginning. Many 'ifs' filled her mind. However, in this world, there was no place for 'ifs'. There was only an indelible scar on her heart and soul."

"A crack in her heart developed into a heart devil. Years later, her heart devil only grew stronger. Eventually, she couldn't overcome the divine tribulation of her heart. Her divine force dissipated, her divine body turned to ashes, and her soul shattered into pieces."

Evelina sighed with exhaustion. It was the first time she had spoken for so long without stopping.

Eleanora, meanwhile, drew her conclusions.

"The Golden Magus?!"

"I didn't think she was a woman. The first book only recounted the deeds and achievements of the Four Great Magi, without a word about their personal lives."

"The Golden Magus was the first among the Four Great Magi to reach the fifth level, and the strongest among them. I didn't think she would die such a pitiful death."

"Although I'm not familiar with the terms heart devil and divine tribulation of the heart, from the story, it's clear they are related to a person's feelings and emotions."

The stories within the two books had brought Eleanor incredible information, yet anxiety and unease in her heart did not subside. None of the information in both books seemed to relate to the calling she felt within her soul. Eleanor decided to try the last possible option. She closed her eyes, calmed herself, and tried to listen to the call in her soul.

1 minute...

2 minutes...

7 minutes passed...

Suddenly, Eleanor opened her eyes. For a split moment, a golden light flashed in her eyes. She lowered her head and looked down at the floor.

"Under the floor. I think it's time to call for the tavern owner," Eleanor said calmly.

"Grace," she called out, not too loudly.

A few moments later, Grace approached their table.

"How can I assist you, dear guest?" Grace asked politely.

"What do you have under the floor?" Eleanor asked directly.

Upon hearing these words, Grace glanced around, and her gaze fell upon two books on the table. Seeing the books, Grace began to cry.

"You've finally come," Grace said.

Grace's sudden tears alarmed Eleanor.

"That's it for today; I'm closing up early, so please leave the establishment. If anyone has ordered food or hasn't finished their meal, you don't need to pay," the tavern owner said loudly.

Everyone in the tavern knew the owner, so they quickly left. The tavern owner locked the door and closed all the windows.

"Please follow me," the tavern owner said.

The tavern owner took a candle and led Eleanor and Evelina into a small room on the ground floor of the tavern. In the room, there was another door locked with a padlock. The tavern owner produced a key and unlocked the door. Behind it was a staircase leading downwards.

They descended the stairs and entered a large, dark space. The tavern owner used the candle in her hand to light other candles in the room.

The room illuminated, revealing numerous shelves stocked with wine, rum, and other drinks.

"Not a bad supply," Eleanor thought.

In her opinion, for such a small tavern, this stock of alcoholic beverages was incredible. If the tavern owner sold all this alcohol, she could afford to buy several more taverns.

The tavern owner approached a corner of the room and touched the wall. She grasped a particular brick and pulled it out from the wall. Behind the brick was a small hidden compartment with a small chest inside. The tavern owner retrieved the chest and handed it to Eleanor.

"The items inside this chest should dispel your doubts"
