Prologue: Fate is a...

“Name?”

“Asmodeus.”

“Age?”

“17.”

“Cause of death?”

“Starvation…”

A dark red soul was hovering in front of a shadow figure as it answered every question which was aimed at him.

“The council has decided. Your karma is one of a kind, thus you’ll be granted the opportunity to accomplish your dream.”

“Really?!”

“Yes. To do so, the Devil himself will give you a suitable vessel.”

“How gre-... Wait for a second! The Devil himself?”

“Yes.”

“Ahum… I mean… Do I have to accept some kind of deal?”

“No.”

“Is the vessel some kind of cursed thing or anything along those lines?”

“You’re asking too many questions for a mere soul…”

Feeling the change in tone coming from the shadow figure the dark red soul didn’t speak anymore and quietly waited, as the gears of fate were spinning.

And before he could understand what was happening, his surroundings started to shift. Without any prior warning, he was at the center of a huge hall.

“Don’t disappoint me.”

A foreign voice resounded in the very depth of his soul. The moment he heard it, he could feel his core changing, as if he was evolving into something he couldn’t comprehend.

Many emotions invaded him.

All those emotions he chose to discard when he died. Regret, anger, sorrow, and loneliness.

Before dying, Asmodeus was a normal boy. He had no talent in particular but he wasn’t inept. He was average. So average that he couldn’t have anything. He wasn’t bad enough to receive pity and help. He wasn’t good enough to receive admiration and fame. But he didn’t mind.

He didn’t mind, but the world did. As an average person, he was considered as a disposable piece. His complaints and his screams weren’t heard. He alone wasn’t anything. He knew it. Thus, he tried to be something for those for whom he was more than your average man.

His father was no more, his brother was nowhere to be seen. The only one remaining were his mother and his little sister. He considered both of them as his everything.

He would help out his mother with the loan and another type of expenditure by taking two part-time jobs. He would try his very best to act as the best brother a sister could have. However, the reality wasn’t so kind.

Royal Road is the home of this novel. Visit there to read the original and support the author.

When he was 16, his sister fell in love with a handsome young man. They were both fifteen, thus he didn’t mind. He wasn’t some kind of overprotective brother, he felt that he needed to trust his sister with her decision.

The young man was more than he looked like. Although they both attended a public school, the young man background wasn’t anything they could dare to mess with.

He didn’t know about that.

The young man liked his sister too. Both of them had what you could call a healthy relationship. She didn’t want to give up too much for him as they were still young and he didn’t want her to be involved too much with him as his actions could bring disaster to her.

And they did.

Although arranged marriage was very uncommon they weren’t inexistent.

His parents arranged a marriage for him with a girl who was at the time in a private school.

He didn’t want to hear anything about that marriage. But he was the only one thinking this. Worst, the girl he was engaged with, was completely crazy about him.

Thus, he wanted to keep his relationship with Asmodeus’ little sister a secret.

He failed.

The girl came to know about it. The moment she knew about it, Asmodeus felt as he was thrown into a pit of fire.

His mother and he were fired for no good reasons. And no matter how hard they tried, they couldn’t manage to find another job.

Money became scarce. The young man his sister was going out with tried to help them and ultimately found out the reason of their bane. But it was too late.

He went to Asmodeus’ apartment where he and his family lived with an envelope filled with money as a compensation for everything that happened. However, when he got to their residence, policemen had surrounded the area. In the sea of those people, he could see Asmodeus, his hand drenched in blood.

Their eyes met, and he was petrified. He felt as If a banshee had taken his soul.

Afterward, the young man gave Asmodeus the money he came with and explained the situation to him. During the whole conversation, Asmodeus never opened his eyes. He was tired. Tired of looking at this world, so he chose to close his eyes. Because the next time he would open his eyes, every flaw which will enter be seen by him will be purged.

Asmodeus went to his new ‘home’ on his 17th birthday. And he never left it. He felt as if his body had no more strength.

One, two, three days passed before he ultimately died of starvation. During the whole process, he couldn’t move. He lost his senses one by one. And if he had opened his eyes the moment before he died, he could have seen that a woman was watching him with a wicked smile.

And now he could live again. Inside a ruined temple, he was laying on the ground, naked. His long silk black hair covering his chest and his amethyst eyes gazing at the ceiling.

As he lifted his new body, he could feel it. No, he knew. The world he was in was different. Here, he could accomplish his dream.

Here in Bearth, a world where mana and qi existed. One defied the nature laws while the other one used it.

Along with his body, knowledge about this world was provided to him. Knowledge about his power too.

A dark crescent moon with seven red stars on it was tattooed on his back.

A red trident was in his left hand. A weapon to kill. Armageddon.

With a flick of his hand, a blue screen appeared in front of him.

Name Asmodeus Age 12 Race Human? Gender Male Strength (Talent= limit) G (SS+) Speed D+ (SSS) Defense  G (SS) Technique G- (SS) Qi cultivation G-(SSS+) Mana cultivation G-(SSS+) Qi purity SSS+ Mana purity SSS+

Damn... I am younger! I mean... This is pretty unbalanced... At least I won't suffer any bottleneck because I can't purify my qi and mana.

After closing his eyes, Asmodeus left the temple and was welcomed by a barren land.

I need to grow stronger. Then, I will find a suitable place to build my sect... A sect which will have for goal to give his disciples the opportunity to go against their fate.

Indeed, for Asmodeus, fate was a bitch.
