The combat examination finally ended, and the principal made a final announcement to the audience: “This was an incredible group of potential students this year, possibly the most promising we’ve ever seen. With that, I bid you all farewell.”
As everyone left, the only thing on their minds was the mind-blowing battle between Shinku and Batoru. Kyoka left the building, thinking about what happened. “That boy, he’s absolutely amazing. I don’t know what it is about him, but I hope I get to cross paths with him again.”
Later that day, when Shinku finally got home, Ryota scolded him for his reckless use of magic. “I told you to try your best to control your magic. You know you can’t control it.”
“I’m sorry, Ryota. I just got caught up in the moment, and before I knew it, it began to leak out of me. At that point, I really couldn’t stop it.”
Ryota sighed and looked at Shinku with a smile. “Well, Shinku, one thing I can guarantee is you blew everyone away in your match. Now it’s time to rest up. You have about two weeks before the results are out. In the meantime, we’ll be training until you can finally control your magic.”
The next day, at Nexus Academy, the staff reviewed the results of the battle. One teacher took special interest in Shinku and Batoru’s battle. “Hey, I need to ask you something real quick.”
“Sure, anything for you, Miss Seraphina. Their names are Shinku and Batoru. Nothing particularly special about them other than the fact that they’re not from any influential families.”
Seraphina looked at him in shock. “Wait, you’re telling me those two potential monsters aren’t from influential families? With the skills they have, I would have sworn their parents spent a lot of money on them. That settles it. I’m going to have a word with the chairman.”
Seraphina walked into the hallway and saw a familiar face. “Hey, Prez, what are you doing here? School doesn’t start for a couple of weeks.”
“I know. There’s just something I have to check out.”
“Oh, I know what it is. You’re interested in that lava boy, aren’t you?”

“So what if I am? As student council president, it’s my job to look out for students like him in particular.”
“I understand that, Haruka, but the kid is still a novice. I know you noticed it too in the battle. He lost control; his magic was basically pouring out of him. Do you really want to risk it?”
“Miss Seraphina, with all due respect, you know this isn’t a normal school. We have special duties as the student council. We need people like that, novice or not. We need him, and like it or not, we will get our hands on him sooner or later.” As Haruka walked away, Seraphina made a mental note to keep an eye on the student council’s activities.
We returned to Shinku as Ryota was training him to use his magic more efficiently. They sat and meditated as Ryota gave instructions. “Okay, Shinku, just as we did before with your revolver blades, I want you to try to sense your magic in your body. Once you do, I want you to try moving it throughout your body.”
Shinku attempted to control his magic but struggled. “I’m trying, but I don’t know how to let it flow.”
Ryota helped by giving a deeper explanation. “Imagine your magic is stored in your heart. When your heart beats, blood pumps through your veins throughout your body. Imagine when your heart beats, your magic flows through your body. Let it flow from your heart to your arms, down to your legs, up to the top of your head, and let it all flow back to your heart.”
Shinku spent ten minutes trying, and he finally managed to flow his magic through his body as Ryota described. Ryota then explained something important. “Shinku, since I’m not an earth magic user, I’ve arranged for a friend of mine to teach you how to properly use it. I was just teaching you some control before you start the real training. His name is Tatsuya.” Shinku excitedly got ready to begin his magic training.
Tatsuya took Shinku outside. “Okay, Shinku, before we start, I want to ask you something.”
“Sure, what is it?”
“Have you ever used your earth magic in any way other than randomly throwing rocks?”
Shinku thought back until he remembered the night at the hospital. “I did. The night I escaped the hospital, I used my earth magic to carry my body. It felt like my body was part of the earth, and it bent to what I wanted it to do as long as I was connected to it.”
Pleased with his answer, Tatsuya began the lesson by instructing Shinku to sit on the ground. “Perfect. As an earth magic user, being connected to the earth is extremely important. It allows you to freely control it. First, we’ll do something basic. Put your hands on the ground and try to flow your magic into the earth.”
Shinku did as he was told. “While you flow your magic, try using the dirt to make a 3D shape.”
Shinku quickly turned around and tried to protest. “What do you mean? You want me to make a 3D shape? I could barely get a pile of mud to move. How can I make anything with actual details?”
“I don’t care. You have to figure it out. You’re flowing your magic into the ground. You’re connected to the earth. Now you just have to learn to feel the connection and manipulate it.”
Shinku begrudgingly started his training. At Nexus Academy, the staff finalized class placements. There were five separate classes in Nexus, ranging from S to D. They all looked at the list of S-class students and happily anticipated the progress of this new group, confident that they would make a great impact in the future.
As everyone prepared for the upcoming school year, we are introduced to a long darked haired boy named, Akira Tanaka as he is verbally abused by his parents, as he quietly took on their words he quietly said,
“Please, someone just listen to me.”
Ant just when he uttered those words a strong gust of wind blew their curtains shut
