It was a normal Friday; I was sitting in class waiting got the bell to ring like everyone else hoping to get my weekend started. I was already completely tuning out the teachers as I read a story I had printed from the internet. I'm sure you know the kind, summoned into another world, awesome powers, the usual. So engrossed was I with my reading that I didn’t even notice when it happened to me. One moment I am sitting in class, the next I’m looking around to see hundreds of my fellow students in what looks like the ball room from beauty and the beast.
They must have summoned my entire school. Your typical old wizard looking guy comes out to greet us and calls us heroes and starts walking us through how to open our status menu's. About then is when I started thinking I'm going to end up with a crap status and tossed out of the castle. I open my status and low and behold it looks very normal for a summoned story fantasy status screen. I have the title of Summoned and the class Crestmaker, my stats seem average for a level one but no way to tell what’s special here. About then another walking trope arrives in the “all to beautiful fantasy land princess” that comes out to thank us for answering the call and informing us all that regardless of our status the kingdom would support us, following up with some story about how during the last great war heroes were summoned and one was deemed powerless and discarded. That turned out to be a mistake because that discarded hero awoke some supreme power and established his own kingdom, the one we were standing in as a matter of fact.
After that food and accommodations were arranged, no one was required to share status or anything like that, so we were all left to our own devices. First day in fantasy land was kind of boring if I'm honest, but then again, I'm fairly certain I've read this all before. Second day we met up with people who divided us up by our classes and started training us, those that could be trained anyways. Once again it turns out I'm one of those can’t really be trained types, my abilities can be practiced yes, but I just need to use them and over time they get stronger. Here let me show you my status, it does a decent job of explaining.

That sounds a great deal like an aura based totem, doesn't it? As it happens that’s exactly what it is. Currently my only crest is a repair crest that can repair unranked items at a rate of one durability a minute. Also, the crest eats one MP per minute so I can slowly repair ten durability for whatever gets placed near my crest before I need to take a few hours to recover my MP. Oh, and if your curious the repair crest looks like a hammer and anvil encased in a circle. It’s about the size of my hand and the total area of effect is apparently one foot square. From what I’ve been told Crestmakers always have unique crests so my theory is that it’s based off what I think a repair crest should look like.
I should note my repair crest does have a slight cheat, it repairs one durability per minute for everything unranked placed inside its area, so if i can fit a hundred items in its area of effect that means I am restoring a full one hundred durability a minute. I tested it on some common items that were bent or otherwise showed wear and after the full ten minutes they were looking better so its definitely doing something. Vurget, that is this dwarf looking guy handling all of us support types, sees a lot of potential in the ability but for not my proficiency is growing really slowly. Anyways day two is done and I really should get to bed, I think I’ll stick with this journal idea, seems fun.
With that Arc closed the Journal section of his interface, placed a repair crest on the table next to his bed where a small pile of items had been placed for repair, and procced to go to sleep. Something Arc had not been informed of in his two days in the Verin kingdom was that MP recovered faster while one slept. Fast enough in fact that it kept up with his single mana per minute expenditures throughout the night.
Something else Arc had not been informed of is the results of over repairing an item through magic. As the night pressed on everything on his bedside table had got from looking well used, to brand new, to taking on a sense of quality they didnt have before. An over repaired item can be incresed in rank a single time. even if his ability worked on ranked items, which his bedside table was now covered with, they would not increase in rank again. That bit of information, and several other things would be revealed to him the next day, when his nighttime repairs had been discovered.
