3. Uzumaki?

Today is the day. The day I begin my journey in fuinjutsu. All shall fear me. As I strolled to the Kazekage's tower, I searched my memories for the man and realized I've never met him. That can't be right.

I yawned as I dried myself off. How in the heavens did Suna get water into every home in the middle of a desert? Probably Top Secret.

I opened my wardrobe and stared at its content. I wasn't surprised to learn that in the elemental nations, everyone selects a single outfit then buys a full wardrobe of the stuff. There I was trying to decide which white t-shirt and green shorts was better in a sea of white t-shirts and green shorts.

Picking out and wearing my outfit, I made my way to the dining room where mom was setting the table. She ruffled my hair as she passed while I poured myself a cup of juice. (We don't drink much water here in Suna.)

"Can we stop by the Kazekage's tower on our way to the academy? I want to quickly borrow his hat." I asked as we began breakfast.

"Unfortunately, we won't be able to do that. Mommy has to protect Suna today. You can go while coming back home." She chuckled. Well, it'll probably be better for me to go alone.

After breakfast, we rushed to the academy and after a kiss on my forehead, mom took to the rooftops. Turning to face Sunagakure's academy, a huge smile blossomed on my face. Time to show everyone my genius.

"Never fear citizens!" I yelled as I kicked the door open and stuck one fist in the air and a fist on my waist. "For I am here!" Thank you All Might. That was suitably cool. The students stared for a few seconds before going back to their conversations. Apparently, my outbursts were common even before my transmigration.

"Stop blocking the door and take a seat Taka." Yuki sensei said cleaning his ear with a pinkie.

I looked up and considered where to sit. As school just began, the cliques were still forming and I still haven't made any friends. I just have to make these little kids acknowledge my genius. Don't worry, I won't start wearing orange jumpsuits and pranking people. Let's leave that for Naruto.

Scanning the students, I caught sight of an interesting looking kid. Red hair, blue onesie and circular glasses. A red haired, cute Kabuto look alike. I made my way to his seat and stretched a hand to him. "Hi! My name is Taka, future SS-rank ninja."

The kid blinked up at me before shyly shaking my hand. "I'm Uzumaki Genki." An Uzumaki? He must be the real deal because Suna practices a patronymic naming system. We use the names of our fathers. We don't have surnames. His family must have been refugees.

"You're Uzumaki? Cool! I heard you know about fuinjutsu. Can you teach me?" Yeah! A stroke of good luck. I don't have to worry about the challenge anymore!

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"Err…" Genki looked down shyly. "I don't know fuinjutsu. My dad said I'm too young to learn."

My hope disappeared faster than a six pack of beer at a frat party. "Oh man! You too? My mom won't teach me fuinjutsu too."

"Really? You too? Why won't they teach us?"

"They think we're too young to learn it! Can you believe that?" We're in the same boat. I'm quite sure we'll get along very well. After a few minutes of shared complaints on adults who underestimate our abilities, Yuki sensei took the attendance and began the class.

"Welcome students to Introduction to Chakra. Last week, you all activated your chakra and are now familiar with it. Today we'll be asking ourselves an important question. What is Chakra?" He paused for effect and the students collectively leaned forward. This dude is quite adept at working a crowd of kids.

"Chakra is the combination of your physical energy which comes from your strength and your mental energy which comes from your intelligence. Ninjas who want to have lots of chakra must exercise both physically and mentally. That means you all will have to read a lot of books to learn cool ninjutsu!" Some students groaned as Yuki sensei grinned at us.

"In order to perform jutsu, you need hand seals to convert your energy into jutsu. Everyone produces chakra but only ninjas can deliberately produce large amounts of chakra. Today, we'll be learning how to convert our mental and physical energy into chakra." Excited whispers filled the class and Genki and I grinned at each other. "Open your textbooks to page five." The class groaned and Yuki sensei laughed.

After two hours of learning the foundations, we were taken to a gym where we spent the rest of the time before break meditating as we mixed our energies. Apparently, with enough practice, we'll be able to do it subconsciously.

After break, we continue the day with mundane subjects. It was quite fascinating to be in a class that could not challenge me mentally. The closing bell could not come any faster.

"I'm a ninja now!" I yelled as we walked home. Genki giggled beside me. I could feel a small puddle of chakra within me. Now, I can wall walk for at least thirty minutes instead of the five minutes I could barely manage.

"I'm going to ask my dad to teach me cool ninja techniques!" Genki said.

"I'm going to graduate early and learn advanced jutsu!" I'm going to have a bit of fun breaking Itachi's record. We chatted about our future plans before we reached the intersection where our path diverged. After waving goodbye, I began my stroll to the Kazekage's tower while trying and failing to whistle a jaunty tune.

As I got closer to the tower, I began reviewing my plan. How do I get the kazekage's hat? The simplest answer is probably the best. I'll simply ask for it. How hard can it be to get to the kazekage's office? If Naruto can do it, I can also do it. The ninjas would recognize me as the kage's nephew.

Now that I think about it, I don't have any memories of meeting the man. Doesn't matter though. As I entered the tower, I stepped straight to the reception desk. "Excuse me," I asked the chunin manning the desk "how do I get to the kage's office?"

The chunin took a few seconds to stare at me in amusement. "What's the purpose of your visit?" He asked.

"Personal reasons."

"Take the stairs to the top floor."

I took a second to process the answer before turning to find the stairs. That was easy. Some suspicious dudes will say too easy but he probably recognized me. There's no way I could even harm the kazekage. He probably had hidden ANBU agents who will assess me before I even get to him. This is turning out to be a cake walk.
