Chapter 10 : Auction, Part 2

Chapter 10 : Auction, Part 2

After a short break, the auctioneer came back onto the stage and announced, "This next item is indispensable for any group battles or large trials. It's a top-tier Divine grade formation disk, able to instantaneously invoke a defensive formation with a radius of 5 meters.

"It could block all attacks from those below the Origin Sage level. It was crafted by experts from the Central continent and was specially imported by us for this auction. There are 5 of these formation disks, each auctioned separately. Bidding starts at 25 Million Spirit stones."

This was a top-tier item; personal defensive formation disks of such high grade and caliber were practically impossible to get in the southwestern domain. This practically guaranteed the lives of their disciples. Bids were being called one by one, only slowing once it reached 70 Million Spirit stones.

The Sect Master of Hidden Phoenix Sect called out a bid, "80 Million Spirit stones."

The other large sects, including the Illusory Moon Sect, also joined the fray. The price slowly crept up to 120 Million Spirit stones.

At this point, Zhang Qiang called his bid, "150 Million." Enthralled by the item, he forgot about the young man in the room beside him.

Some of the audience members looked at Draco, wanting to see if he would bid, but the young man remained calm as if he wasn't bothered about the Celestial Tyranny Sect winning the item.

The Eternal Frost Sect increased their bid to 170 Million. At this point, many of the sects wanted to try their hand in the next round, after all, there were a total of 5 available for auction.

Just as everyone thought that the Eternal Frost Sect nabbed the item, the now familiar voice of the young man silenced the entire hall.

"200 Million." With a nonchalant smile, Draco called his bid.

Lady Bai Ling, the Sect Master of the Eternal Frost Sect, eyed the young man standing in the room opposite hers. She pondered for a minute and just as she was about to call her bid, she heard the young man up his bid.

"300 Million." Draco upped his bid for no apparent reason, as he glanced at the members of the Eternal Frost Sect for only a brief moment as he turned his gaze elsewhere, as if indicating they weren't anything special in his eyes.

As silence followed, the auctioneer ended the round, "Sold! To the Young Master again, congratulations."

The auctioneer was grinning ear to ear. He was sure today's auction would break all previous records. "Onto the second one, start."

Without waiting for anyone, Draco called his previous bid, "300 Million."

The audience gasped in shock. This Young Master was truly rich. They waited with bated breaths to see if anyone else would compete. But they were disappointed.

'Is he going to bid for all of them?' The auctioneer pondered as he announced, "Sold! Onto the third one, start."

Lady Bai Ling called out a bid, "320 Million."

"400 Million," Draco called out, not even sparing a glance in the direction of the Eternal Frost Sect.

Lady Bai Ling was thoroughly incensed but she reigned in her anger and scoffed, indicating she wasn't going to bid further.

Though the large clans and sects were thoroughly incensed by this, they had no leg to stand on, after all, it was a fair competition, and this Young Master seems to be made out of money.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

"Sold. Onto the fourth, start." The auctioneer announced.

Lady Bai Ling contacted the Illusory Moon Sect through spiritual sense and came to an agreement with them for cooperation during the realm trials. Now confident of winning the item, she called out her bid, "500 Million."

With a faint smile, Draco calmly called his bid, "1 Billion."

Everyone was stunned. This was pure insanity. No matter how hard the formation disk was to get, it was absolutely not worth 500 Million, let alone a Billion.

Having been continuously thwarted time and again, combined with the nonchalant attitude the young man displayed, Lady Bai Ling was angered.

"Impudent! Do you think this auction is being solely held for you..."

Before she could continue, a terrifying pillar of spiritual energy descended on the room the Eternal Frost Sect was in. This pillar of spiritual energy radiated powerful waves, turning the hall chaotic, and affecting weaker cultivators who were now gasping for air.

"Go ahead, Young Master Liu." Arthur's words followed by a chuckle echoed in Draco's mind.

Draco grinned in his heart. With an arrogant expression on his face, he began to spew his spiel.

"Watch your mouth... Which brothel did you run here from..."

One of the Elders of the Eternal Frost Sect who was now on her knees along with their Sect Master, spoke with great difficulty, "We're... from the Eternal Frost Sect..."

Draco scoffed, "Hmph, so even filthy women like you dare to form sects. Ridiculous. If not for not wanting to sully my hands, I would have slapped you all to death!"

Draco looked at the woman in the front who was trying to stand under the immense pressure of the spiritual energy, albeit unsuccessfully. From Old Jiang's message just now, he knew they were from the Eternal Frost Sect, it was one of the top dogs of the Southwestern Domain, but Draco didn't care.

"For your offense, break your arms and cripple your cultivation, or else there won't be a place in this world for you and your brothel, or sect, or whatever you want to peddle yourself as."

The gigantic pillar of energy exuding boundless might was equally matched by the tyrannically dominant words of the young man. He casually suppressed Lady Bai Ling, who was close to becoming a Celestial Sage, with his spiritual energy. This young man, no, this Young Master is someone capable of dominating the entire Southwestern Domain.

Lady Bai Ling and the Elders of the Eternal Frost Sect, in their humiliation and helplessness, spat a mouthful of blood.

'Damn... I thought it was just an expression of speech... Do these people have blood stored up in their mouth, ready to spit blood at the slightest insult?' Draco thought in surprise as he maintained his arrogant gaze.

Without any reply or action from anyone, Draco didn't know how to proceed.

The auctioneer came to his senses. He couldn't help but feel fear from seeing the pillar of spiritual energy that descended on the unfortunate Lady Bai Ling.

Anxiously, he spoke with caution, "Young Master Liu, on behalf of their grave mistake, I ask for your forgiveness, they had eyes but failed to see Mount Tai. I humbly ask you to spare them."

Draco looked at the auctioneer, standing with his hands behind his back, thinking about something.

The pillar of spiritual energy began to expand and enveloped the entire auction hall.

Cultivators of Origin Arcanist level and below immediately fainted. The rest of them, including the Sage-level cultivators felt their knees weaken, and their bodies shaking uncontrollably.

The auctioneer himself was barely holding back from collapsing onto the floor.

"Since the host has spoken, I'll naturally give face on account of Jade Pavilion and Clear Jade City." Draco waved his hand, dispersing the spiritual energy eclipsing the auction hall.

Everyone who hasn't fainted breathed a sigh of relief. With their backs and legs drenched in sweat, they felt cold all over from the breeze coming in from the open roof.

"Don't let me see you again." Draco glared at the occupants of the unfortunate room and waved his hand again.

Streams of light gathered around everyone in the aforementioned room and they all vanished into thin air.

'Did... Did he just kill them!?' The auctioneer's legs started to tremble faintly.

Draco looked at the auctioneer, and with a graceful smile, he explained his actions.

"You don't have to worry. Since I have spoken, I wouldn't kill them. I gave them a hand and transported them all out of the city. We can continue with the auction."

He looked around the hall and announced, "None of you need to feel apprehensive, you can all bid and compete, after all, it's a fair and open auction. Let's get back to it."

After a long pause of silence, the auction continued, initially the momentum was slow, but when they saw Draco no longer bid for some items and bidding for a single copy of some items, the auction gathered momentum again.

Zhang Qiang sat in his room cowering like a mouse. He didn't let out a single squeak and tried his best to restrain his aura, wanting to minimize his presence.

When he saw the capabilities of the self-proclaimed Young Master, Zhang Qiang nearly pissed himself. Forget about bidding, all he wanted to do was run out of the auction hall, but he held himself back fearing it would anger the Young Master.

The auction proceeded smoothly, and Draco got everything he wanted, spending 'only' 40 Billion Spirit stones in the end.

One of the most important items he acquired in the auction was the newly released fifth edition of Encyclopedia of Alchemy, authored by peerless alchemists of the Heaven Hall Pavilion from the Central continent.

It had everything from the basics up to the latest research carried out by Heaven Hall, the supreme Alchemy power of the Central continent, involved solely in pure research and training of new alchemists.

As the auction ended, the auctioneer thanked everyone for attending. The process of collection of the items and payment began and ended quite quickly, thanks to the large number of attendants at the ready.

Before the auctioneer could request Draco for a chat, the Young Master was nowhere to be seen, having vanished immediately after the procedures were conducted.

When they reappeared on the balcony of their luxurious hotel room, Draco was quick to lay down on the bed.

Old Jiang and Old Zhou who didn't let a squeak since they witnessed the mighty power of their Young Master were now grinning like mad men. If not for fear of disturbing their Young Master, they would have roared in delight.

Draco was pretty tired, the auction was very long and though he wasn't affected much by the spiritual energy that descended on the auction hall, his body was nevertheless stressed and tired.

He quickly drifted to sleep, not bothered about what was happening outside.

That very night, the happenings within the auction hall spread like wildfire throughout Clear Jade City. Everyone within Clear Jade City now knew that an extremely powerful Young Master of mysterious origin appeared in their city and he couldn't be offended.
