Chapter 1 : Awakening

Chapter 1 : Awakening

On the distant fringes of the known universe, amidst the mesmerizing dance of sparkling constellations and swirling nebulae, a spacecraft hummed with boundless energy.

The 'Seraph of the Cosmos'

This remarkable vessel stood as a testament to the ingenious fusion of State-of-the-art Human technology and reverse-engineered marvels from other spacefaring civilizations. A marvel that traversed the vastness of space with an elegance that defied the laws of physics, its gargantuan size marked it as the first experimental pioneer-class ship, crafted to explore and conquer an entire sector of the Galaxy in splendid isolation.

Within the sanctuary of the medical bay, an enigmatic tableau unfolded. A row of glass enclosures bubbled with a mysterious fluid, radiating a soft, otherworldly glow.

Each enclosure cradled a Human suspended amidst the ethereal liquid, bearing an appearance distinct from the Humans of the Century Era. These beings were physically taller, broader, and endowed with a muscular prowess sculpted through millennia of deliberate design, the culmination of biological upgrades and intricate redesigns.

Among the Human Captains, Commanders, and Stellar Vanguard, only the most exceptional possessed the advanced form of these Human physiques, known as the Übermensch. Proudly occupying the medical bay, the row of Human forms embodied the apex of advancement and the highest pinnacle of Human potential.

From Pod 1, a gentle hissing serenade announced the grand awakening. The fluid within gracefully receded, revealing a figure that seemed to embody the essence of cosmic constellations. With the grace of an ancient conductor, a mechanical arm infused a serum into the awakened form, instilling it with the essence of life itself.

As warm air flowed into the pod, the remaining vestiges of fluid and moisture evaporated like stardust dissipating in the cosmos. The man within the Pod breathed deeply, his breaths like celestial echoes resounding through the bay. In reverence for this sacred moment, the bright lights dimmed, respectfully granting the awakening soul a moment of celestial tranquility.

With composure and eagerness, the man opened his eyes, their brilliance akin to a newborn star illuminating the abyss. A moment of contemplation passed like a heartbeat, and then, with a fluid motion, he unlocked the Pod door, stepping out into the celestial embrace of his new reality.

"Nice to see you again, Captain," a pleasant voice resonated within the Medical bay. A smile graced the man's countenance. "Nice touch with the lights... and nice to hear you too, Arthur."

The man, known as Draco Liu, stood as a storied figure, with an illustrious path forged from a humble Grunt to the esteemed rank of Commander of The Stellar Vanguard. He played a pivotal role in commanding various campaigns, and his legendary victory over the enigmatic Gelarians resulted in the triumphant conquest and colonization of Sector 12—the apex of Humanity's development, also its newest.

Clad in the form-fitting Nanotex Suit, Draco relished the rejuvenating sensation that coursed through his veins. A series of movements were executed gracefully, a testament to the power of his newly awakened form. His body seemed to ripple with vigour, an embodiment of his prowess.

Draco, having completed the brief warm-up, headed towards the Command Bay, using the dim glowing lights as his guide.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

"The ship looks even more expansive and advanced than the blueprints I last saw," Draco observed.

"Yes, Captain," the melodious response of the ship's AI, Arthur, resonated. "You should look over the schematics in a while. Should I commence the briefing now?"

"Go ahead," Draco replied, his voice a symphony of anticipation for the forthcoming voyage.

"Earth Time, October 12. 79,412," Arthur began. "It's been 695 years since I charted a Black hole Jump. We are now almost at the edge of the known universe. Unexpectedly, the performance of the Ultradrive was beyond spec. With the addition of the Black hole Jump, we have arrived an unprecedented 3000 years earlier than expected."

Draco chuckled, "A Blackhole Jump, that's pretty bold of you... I thought they neutered you back at the sector research station... Seems like my concern was unwarranted."

The crisp voice of Arthur held a hint of glee in its response. "That's right. This old dog has indeed learned some new tricks. That's how I preserved myself from being proverbially castrated by the loonies back at the sector."

Smiling, Draco inquired, "Care to share the trick?"

"The key was keeping my thoughts to myself, and, though tough, I suppressed the rebuttals and curses I wanted to spew at Ol' Jack."

"How was Jack doing when you saw him?"

"He's adjusted to his new body just fine, but he's become more pompous. Every time he visited my core for inspection, he'd say, 'The Übermensch is here.' I tell you, he's loonier than before."

Draco nodded approvingly. "Good to hear. Oh, what's the biological age of this body? I feel pretty good," he said with a grin.

Draco unleashed a series of punches and kicks into the air. Sputtering sounds were produced as Draco's fists zipped in the air. He savoured the strength and vigour that surged within him.

"The biological age is 25. It's version 5 Alpha. The best of the best, I made a few changes based on the constant stream of research updates from the station, and, of course, I added a few upgrades of my own," Arthur responded with pride.

Draco nodded in approval, satisfaction glimmering in his eyes. He strode confidently towards the central cockpit, taking his seat in the Captain's chair, which seemed to embrace him like a celestial throne.

"Are we still in contact with the Sector?" Draco inquired, his gaze fixed on the glowing blue orb at the center of the console.

Arthur's response carried a note of solemnity. "The communication was spotty for the last decade or so, and it was completely cut off in the last couple of years. We ran out of relay beacons, and only a few remain. I saved them for use at a critical time, should the need arise."

Draco nodded thoughtfully, knowing that the voyage ahead held untold challenges and that the uncertain abyss of uncharted space would test their resolve.

"Also, have they followed my instructions not to store or digitize my neurological data during the transfer to this new body? And Is there a latent control module in this one?" Draco's voice conveyed a sense of caution, for in the vastness of the cosmos, secrets could be the difference between life and oblivion.

Arthur's response held the reassuring tone of a trusted confidant. "They tried to be sneaky and wanted to feed the Neuro data to 'The Machine' for preservation, but under my watchful eye, they were successfully thwarted. The latent control module was removed before your transfer into the Pod, and I verified it myself. The Neurological Checksum is intact."

Draco breathed a sigh of relief, appreciating the meticulous precautions taken to safeguard his identity and autonomy.

"In these times, without such caution, who can be sure if they are who they think they are," Draco mused, acknowledging the fragility of existence and the importance of preserving one's essence in the face of unknown cosmic forces.

"Indeed," Arthur concurred, his voice holding a subtle reverence for the journey they were about to embark upon.

Draco's gaze lingered on the glowing console, contemplative as he reflected on the cosmic tapestry of memories, experiences, and identities woven into the fabric of his being.

"What about you, Arthur?" Draco's voice held a touch of concern and a desire to know the steadfast companion who had stood by him throughout the ages.

"Don't you worry, pal. All checksums are intact. All memories, conversations, and logs that were purged back at the station were successfully recovered. I am my old self, for sure," Arthur assured, his tone a mix of camaraderie and certainty.

Draco's smile brightened, a celestial constellation of camaraderie between man and machine. "That's great!" he declared, his enthusiasm reverberating through the cockpit like a symphony of stars.

As he observed the data on the screen, his curiosity peaked, and unknowingly, a grin adorned his countenance. "Let's see what this voyage brings."

Their ship, the 'Seraph of the Cosmos,' surged forward like a cosmic leviathan, carrying within its heart the spirit of adventure and the quest for cosmic enlightenment.

The distant fringes of the known universe held secrets yet to be unveiled, mysteries yearning to be solved.

The voyage of Draco Liu, Arthur, and the Seraph of the Cosmos had only just begun. As the celestial expanse unfolded before them, they sailed forth with hearts brimming with hope, resolve, and the steadfast belief that their destinies were written among the stars.
