CH 64: Stats

The system immediately answered Noah, showing him his stats. If he had to be honest, he was becoming somewhat tired of looking at those numbers and keeping track of them. But beyond his personal discomfort, wielding the ability to observe his growth in a clear and concise quantitative format was simply too much of an advantage to give up on.

Noah looked at the numbers while clenching his fist. He had definitely underestimated the energy of the core. Even after bringing him to the maximum possible in Tier 8, it was able to bring him so high in Tier 7.

Three changes captured his attention. Firstly, his growth stage had changed to Youth now. He could not help but sneer at the absurdity of that denotation, but there was no way to change this way of classification. Still, he had only reached 22% of the evolutionary classification. So there was still a long way to go before he could be considered an ‘adult’.

The second thing that caught his attention was,

“Tier 7-B?”

[From Tier 7 to Tier 4, the differences in the same tier are considered extreme. To the point where it is necessary to add further classification. For simplification, they were divided into Lower, Middle, and High. Respectively, C, B, and A.]

So he was considered to be in the middle of Tier 7 now? That was definitely an interesting discovery. He didn’t know who had the time to come up with such a clear and concise differentiation between the ranks, but he was happy about it.

Finally, he focused on the so-called Thema. It now included Thermokinesis, the manipulation of thermal energies, into its rank.

A pity this doesn’t show my skills.

Noah remembered that in those RPG games back on earth, the players were able to have access to much more detailed information about their characters. But he did not mind the lack of a more in-depth analysis of his characteristics. He really had no reason to complain about what he had going for him now.

— We have reached a new level. I feel like the current you could fight my entire army from back then even without a Mecha.

Noah smiled. There was no denying that the current him was simply on another level. His body had enough durability now to withstand blasts that could easily erase entire mountains. Even if someone was able to deal more than enough damage to overwhelm his resilience, he could simply regenerate.

“Well, now—”

Noah's words were interrupted by frantic knocks against his door. Soon, without any response from him, the door was hastily opened from the outside.

“VIP! Are you alright!?” It did not take long for a frantic voice to follow, and it took even less for B-54 to enter his bedroom with hurried steps and a panicked expression.

A strange silence fell as B-54’s mouth opened wide in shock as her eyes scanned the whole room, alongside Noah.

The sheets and the floor were covered in blood and bits of organs, while the ceiling and the walls were covered in a layer of frost as well as patches of burn marks. This entire room was now a place of pure chaos and destruction.

In the middle of all this, stood Noah, entirely naked, covered in blood from head to toe, his arms covered in frost, and part of his flesh was charred while healing at a visible pace.

Noah looked down at his own body and the current state of the room. A bitter smile was all he could muster, in the end. Not knowing how to explain the current situation in simple words.

He was just becoming a little tired of meeting people like this. Some would think he is some kind of exhibitionist.

In the end, B-54’s shock did not stop her from acting professionally. She cleared her throat and gave him a small bow.

“I apologize for barging into your room unannounced … We received a notification about an abrupt and dangerous spike in the temperatures of your room. Assuring the security of the VIPs is our mission. Do you need any medical assistance?”

Noah smiled at her. This girl or rather android was definitely interesting. Not everyone could come back to their senses after discovering so much chaos.

“I don’t need a doctor. I am sorry for wrecking the room. It wasn’t my intention.” He scratched his head and looked at the room with an awkward expression.

“No matter. This will simply be added to your tab.” She raised her head and gave him a wide smile, causing him to chortle. It seemed like Dorothy would soon be cursing him at the top of her lungs. A pity, he was going to miss a good show.

“Since you are in no danger, I will be stepping outside now. Someone will come and tidy up…” She stopped and looked around, before sighing, “We will give you a new room. We do not have the means to clean all this mess up with haste.”

Noah gave a sheepish grin. He could hear some resentment in her voice, and he knew for sure that the staff would be going through a cycle of unnecessary yet tedious work all because of him. But there was really nothing he could do.

This was a valuable lesson for him. Next time he needed to evolve, he would make sure to do so in a place where no one could disturb him. It would be problematic if he was to get caught while he wasn’t able to defend himself.

“Sooo… ?” Noah asked, causing B-54 to tilt her head in bewilderment.

“What might be the matter?”

“Well, I don’t mind staying like this, but the blood is quite sticky, and my butt is freezing.” Something else was freezing, but Noah was not so crass that he would utter such words in front of a lady.

“Hah…” B-54 remembered the current state of affairs and nodded. She was not flustered in the slightest. “I will leave now. Please, remember that while we respect all traditions and cultures, we do not allow things that can endanger the life of the passengers. If another such incident were to occur, we would be forced to demote you from your status as a VIP.”

B-54 seemed uncomfortable and hesitant to say those words, but it was definitely necessary. Their crews had a high standing and fame in the galaxy and an endless number of competitors who could do almost anything to take over their market share. If people were to say that a VIP killed himself in their room while doing some strange barbaric ritual, then their position would be severely affected.

Even Super VIPs couldn’t be allowed to do everything they wanted if those conducts posed a risk to their company.

“Of course.” Noah was not the least bit angered. He was the one at fault here, after all. There was nothing much he could say.

B-54 let out a smile of relief. Warning VIPs was never a fun task as they could easily give negative feedback about her or worse. Cases of powerful VIPs destroying her sisters were not unheard of.

“Have a great day. We are in a zone close to Neverland. One last jump, and we will be in their stellar system. If you wish to enjoy your stay here, this is the final moment to do just that. I will be available. Just a call away.”

No sooner had B-54 finished those words, and as Noah was about to answer her,

Tick-Tock!

The heavy ticking sound of a clock filled the air, spreading an eerie wave of energy throughout. The sound alone caused a shiver to go down Noah’s spine. His head jerked towards B-54, ready to ask her what the hell was going on here.

“We need to run!” B-54 had other thoughts, however. Ignoring any intentions Noah might have, she caught his hand and literally dragged him outside the room in a dashing sprint. He could have easily stopped her, but he judged it was better to follow the experienced one.

Red alarms blared everywhere outside and all the rooms swung open simultaneously. People of all sizes and races hastily rushed out of their rooms. All seemingly running for their dear lives.

The speakers buzzed alive and a panicked male voice reached everyone.

[The Captain of the Traveler speaking. The ticking clock has sounded. This is not an exercise! I repeat, this is not an exercise! Immediately rush to the closest shelter. Our staff will await you there.]

The message was repeated again and again but soon was buried under the progressively louder ticking of the eerie clock.

“Just what is happening here?” Noah asked B-54. He could guess that some sort of danger was approaching, but just what kind of danger were they dealing with here, he needed to know about that to prepare.

B-54 did not stop running nor did she turn around, but two words left her mouth with utter solemnity.

“The Crocodile.”

She spoke like those words should have been enough for Noah to understand, but all he could wonder was,

What the fuck is that supposed to mean?
