Chapter 3: Symbol Activated

“Oh it’s nothing brother Sheng!” Yong Min tried to laugh as he said so.

“Well then, I’ll be going first brother Yong!” Sheng Ning also awkwardly laughed as he left.

Watching Sheng Ning left, Yong Min turned around and looked at the strange symbol again, this time, he didn’t immersed himself in looking at it, he only observed it and tried to look at the lines of the strange symbol, but it was ever changing, forming round lines to straight lines. He couldn’t tell what the symbol was at all. The color of the glow was blue though, that part he could tell.

Having no clue at all, he laid himself down again and just tried to sleep. The moment he woke up, there was a chill in the air inside his room. Having felt this, he quickly got up and changed to his uniform, then went to his class.

During school hours, he would listen to the discussion but at the same time his thoughts would come back to the symbol.

That day he didn’t got to meet Li Juan, but he saw Wang Jing during lunch time, she was eating on a staircase in one of the buildings.

When saw Wang Jing eating, he couldn’t help but think about the food bought by Li Juan, it was really delicious. Having this kind of thoughts in mind, he stared at Wang Jing, who misinterpreted things the wrong way.

“If you want to court me, please say so. You don’t have to be so creepy.” Wang Jing suddenly said, looking at his direction.

Hearing this, Yong Min couldn’t help but look behind him to see if there was someone there. Seeing that no one was there, he realized that what Wang Jing said was aimed at him.

“Ah, you thought wrongly Miss Wang.” Yong Min hurriedly reasoned out that he was hungry and that he was tempted by the food Wang Jing was eating.

“You could have said so, here.” Wang Jing was eating bread, so she broke it in half, half for her and half for Yong Min.

Because that was his reason, naturally he didn’t decline and ate the bread. They spoke for a while before Yong Min went back to listen to class. As for Wang Jing, she however went to the guidance office as she had a different schedule than the regular students.

After class, Yong Min went back to his room and saw that the strange symbol was still there. This time he took a chair and stood on it. He decided to touch the symbol. Feeling the symbol in his hand moving in different angles and shapes, he was shocked that he could actually touch it. He quickly stepped down from the chair but to his surprise his hand was stuck at the symbol, the symbol seemed to tie him up, forming into what seems like handcuffs, cuffing his hands within.

Yong Min became startled and desperately struggled but the symbol’s grip was becoming tighter the more he struggled. Having no choice, he could only look at it. Seeing it real close, he could vaguely see the lines turning into a lion’s shape, a bird, fish, trees, mountains, the heavens and even the universe. Having seen this, he entered the same trance he was in yesterday. But now, he unknowingly looked at it till morning, and then he was suddenly enlightened. The symbol formed planets, stars and living things within, but it also destroyed what it was forming after a while. The symbol was like a god. It creates things but all things must have an end. Like the stars, it would explode as it reaches its end, and a new one would be formed. People would die, but new born babies would replace them.

Knowing this, he couldn’t help but be at awe at this symbol, but his hand was still stuck inside. He tried using his other hand and tried to pull his the other one, but the moment his other hand touched the symbol, the Symbol glowed brighter than ever, it vibrated and created hum sounds. It began producing suction force, sucking his hand, pulling him inside the symbol.

“Hmmmmm!”

“Suuuuuuuuuuuuuu!”

Feeling the suction force, he was helpless to do anything, he wanted to shout for help, but the moment he opened his mouth, no sound came out. No matter how much he shouted, no sound was produced. In the next moment he found that everything went dim and he lost consciousness.

…......

It was noon, and the sun was right above everyone’s head, but the sun seemed to be bigger than usual. Birds were flying in the sky making sharp cries as they chirp.

Different sounds from different animals could be heard if one would just listen carefully.

In a mountain range, where many mountains stood, a small plateau could be seen on top of one of its mountain peaks. It was a peculiar plateau. It was several kilometers wide and here, a village was founded a thousand years ago.

This village is not the same one as the one on earth. As this village had tens of thousands of citizens, and tens of thousands of houses in various sizes and quality.

On the outer premises of the plateau, on the south, dozens of kilometers from the plateau, a group of people were gathered. They all had spears on their hand. They were the warriors of the plateau that was tasked to guard one of the stations in the southern part of the mountain range.

They had to constantly guard against anything. Not just people or animals, but wild beast. Wild beasts are stronger than humans, and when they gather around, could wipe out a village.

“Did you all hear what the expedition team said? They said that they saw a whole mountain, dozens of kilometers from here that was burning!” a middle aged man said.

“I heard about it! They said that it has continuously burned for a month now. They couldn’t even come close to it.” Another one said, it was a young guard.

“I heard that the fire would naturally die on its own in a month or two based on their calculations. It would be the right time to send another expedition to check if there are natural treasures that would appear.” The young guard added.

“Who did you hear that from Chu Xin?” someone asked.

“I heard it from my brother and you all know that he is a personal guard of elder Chu Gang, one of the three great elders! I, Chu Xin never lie about anything that I’ve said.” Chu Xin said as he swore.

“No one is saying that you are lying, what we mean is, is that the entire thing your brother said? Didn’t he mention if the elders would somehow hire additional warriors to go there?” someone asked, as going in this kind of expedition would require warriors to risk their lives but at the same time it was a rewarding job.

“I don’t know, my brother didn’t mention something like that.” Chu Xin said, he was also eager to go in this expedition.

“Hmmmm… something is not right.” someone suddenly said. It was an old man. He was the oldest and had the greatest experience among them.

When the others heard him, their expressions became serious, they couldn’t help but ask.

“What’s wrong old Lu?” Chu Xin asked.

Old Lu was silent as he looked at the ground. The small pebbles were slightly trembling.

Everyone became alert, holding their spears near their bodies.

Old Lu was the first one to notice, and was also the first one to react when he looked at a direction. Seeing it, old Lu opened his mouth widely, his hand was shaking, cold sweat dripped from his back.

Everyone noticed old Lu’s reaction and looked at where he was looking.

“What is that!?” Everyone shouted, their voice shaky, legs trembling.
