Chapter 8

Amara turned back to the screen, ready to use the five upgrade points. So, she began to mentally assign them to where she wanted to spend them.

First, she decided to improve the unique ability, Roar of Pride. She used one of the upgrade points, which increased the aura’s radius to 20 + lvl yards. The upgrade point also increased the mob stats to 110% instead of 100%. Rather than putting another point on this skill, she decided to use it on Dandylion, in general, to see if she could unlock anything.

When Amara did that, she unlocked a trait for Dandylion called Power Plant. The trait was a permanent one. It increased the boss’s defence by 5 points and gave him a 30% element resistance to all elemental attacks and debuffs. The other three upgrade points she was going to save for when she needed them. When Amara finished, she closed the upgrade screen and took a look at her boss’s status page one last time.

Tier 1 Floor Boss

Plant Lion - Unnamed

HP: 500

MP: 250

Atk: 50

Def: 50

Unique Abilities

King of Beasts: Increases the attack power by times 2 of the boss for 10 minutes

Roar of Pride: Bolsters living plants within a 20 + lvl yard radius, increasing their stats by 110%. Any mobs affected by this will come to the aid of the Plant Lion.

Trait

Power Plant: Being a plant, the elements can significantly damage it after spending ages thriving under the sun while surviving dangerous elemental situations. In turn, the plant has grown resilient to elemental damages and now has 30% elemental damage resistance.

Amara grinned and closed the screen, looking at Nyx. Nyx had an expectant look on her face, and she watched Amara upgrade her boss. “What shall we do next, Nyx?”

The faery motioned towards the first floor, where the mobs were wandering around and settling in. “Why don’t you summon Dandylion, and then we can start on the next task.”

“Which is?” Amara asked as she pulled up her boss’s screen and prepared to summon her plant lion.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

“The one thing that most adventurers crave, loot. But before we do that, you must summon your boss.”

Amara pulled up the boss’s status screen, and right on the bottom, there was a button that said summon, and she pushed it. Dandylion appeared on her first floor, and Amara studied it. Dandylion was about 7ft in height and 8ft long. The boss was graceful as it moved. It did not let its largeness affect its grace. The boss looked like a living plant. It was made up of different types of plants that combined together into a lion shape. Amara thought that the developers made this boss really well. It definitely was what the boss status screen described.

“Ahem.” Nyx pulled her attention away from studying her boss. “We have 10 more hours until the dungeon goes live, so we should get moving.”

Amara blushed, well, as much as she could blush being stuck in a dungeon core. She was embarrassed that she got so caught up in studying Dandylion that she forgot that she had other objectives that she had to complete before the time ran out.

“So what do we use to generate loot?” Amara wondered about what program or generator she would be using.

“Why, the loot generator.” With that, Nyx snapped her fingers, and a screen with Loot Generator was written at the top. Well, she guessed that not all of the developers were creative.

The loot generator screen was set up, kind of like the mob characters screen. Except this one went by tiers, and most of the screen was greyed out. The only section that Amara could see was the Tier 1 section. So she clicked it, and all of her Tier 1 mobs were shown, including her floor boss. But there were also empty spaces on the screen with question marks on them.

“What are the question marks for?” Amara nodded towards the question marks on the screen, curious about what they meant. But the loot generator showed her that the loot she could generate can be in tiers.

“Those question marks are spaces for special loot instances.”

“Wait, what? Special loot instances.” Amara was not quite following what Nyx was saying.

“Each dungeon within CMS has special loot. Special loot instances are rates that offer adventurers a chance at a rarer or unique loot that would not usually be a dropped loot on the floor. When you unlock special loot instances, you can apply them to your floor.”

“So, does that mean we are talking about treasure chests?”

“No, no. Special loot instances include special mobs that you unlock, such as a pet or miniature version of a mob that adventurers can keep. But moving on, we have to keep to the task on hand, the loot drops.”

Nyx waved her hand at the moss soldier mob, pulling up a screen. Underneath the name moss soldier, multiple loot options appeared.

Moss Soldier

Copper Coin ( / )

Moss Seed (common) ( / )

Moss Ball (common) ( / )

Moss Tooth (uncommon) ( / )

“Are those the options for the loot drop for moss soldiers?” Amara glanced over the items again. They seem like reasonable drops, and the different professions within the game should use these drops to craft or create things with them. Maybe even be used as ingredients for healing potions or the like.

“Yes. It is your job to determine the drop rate of each type of loot for all of your mobs.”

Amara, assuming that the slash in the brackets is where the rates of dropped loot were put, tapped one. When she did that, she found she could input numbers, and she went to work. Amara finished the loot rate for her moss soldiers and took a step back, and studied the numbers to make sure she was happy with them.

Moss Soldier

Copper Coin ( 1/1 )

Moss Seed (common) ( 1/1 )

Moss Ball (common) ( 1/4 )

Moss Tooth (uncommon) ( 1/3 )

With that, Amara started going through the rest of her mobs, including her boss and setting up her drop rates.
