In a restaurant, not far from the college dorm, the three young students have been freed from the police custody, and all have gathered there after a detective called all of them to come over and discuss what they are going to do now. The detective has arranged this meeting to happen in a dinner called “Rob’s Dinner and Café”, a popular diner here in Las Caliguals.
“What would you like to order?” asks a young servant to the four people sitting at a table.
“Yes,” says Marcus, checking the menu. “I would like coffee and scrambled eggs.”
“Hey, Marcus,” says Alexander.
“What? I am hungry.”
“It’s fine.” responds the cop who is the detective who interrogated Alexander earlier, then he looks at the servant. “I’ll take a black coffee with three cubs of sugar.”
“I’ll take a coffee with milk, please.” says Selena to the servant.
“And you?” asks the servant to Alexander.
“No. I am good.” says Alexander to the servant.
“I’ll be back with the orders in a minute.”
When the servant leaves the scene, the four people begin to discuss why they have come here and what they will discuss.
“You know why I have called you all here?” asks the detective, who is showing the badge to the three students. “My name is Malcolm Grimes. Particularly detective. You three are probably wondering why you are here?” says as he puts the badge back into his pockets. “During these circumstances.”
“To find Rosa?” asks Alexander.
“That. And also, to learn something you never learn at college.” says the detective as he takes out from his backpack a laptop, places it on the table, opens it and starts it up.
After the detective opens a few files, he twists the laptop to the three college students, who are all sitting on the other side of the table. The students are looking at five reports on suicide that were to happen, as Alexander said earlier during his interrogation, every Friday when the blood moon appears. The first report dates back to 1912, when Las Caligula's was built, a worker was found hanging in a barn. A second report dates back to 1916, a soldier who came back from the war, was found dead in a street, not far from the Las Caliguals. It presented a sign of being attacked, he just died… out of nowhere, as the report says. The third report dates back to 1922, it reveals a picture of a woman who jumped down from a church in Las Caliguals, but what stands out from the other two reports is that this woman has a name, Velma Rosa Abigail.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Abigail.” says Alexander out of nowhere.
“Excuse me?” asks the detective to Alexander, who is as surprised as everyone at the table.
“I remembered something.” says Alexander. “But not all. Only this Abigail name… But it wasn’t her.”
“What are you talking about?” asks Alexander.
“Abigail… Velma… Abigail Velma… Velma, Abigail.” says Marcus, and he looks at Alexander. “Velma Abigail. I remember now.”
“What do you remember, Marcus?” asks the detective, looking at Marcus.
“I remember she told us to take the amulet when we were digging her grave, deliver it to Hawaii and throw it into a volcano together with her remains.”
“Remains?” asks the detective, sounding a little creeped out. “You mean? Her body.”
“Yeah. What he told us after we opened the casket.” he looks at his two friends, then he says. “Well, that’s what I remember the spirit told us.”
“The amulet must be at Rosa.” says Alexander.
“Right.” says Selena. “I remember I saw Rosa taking a ticket to Hawaii from the airport, we bid farewell and that’s it…” she looks at Alexander and Marcus. “You two remember something more?”
“No.” says Marcus. “That’s all I can remember, too.”
“Me too.” says Alexander.
“But what you’ve said so far makes a bit of sense. Rosa, from the airport report, she took the flight to Hawaii at 12:50 AM, but you three were last seen entering the dorm at 2:50 AM. Alexander and Marcus slept outside, while Selena wasn't there, but she was at the beach.”
“From what I remember.” says Selena. “After we delivered the amulet to Rosa and bid farewell. I remember we were going to the beach. But I don’t know why.”
“Me neither.” says Alexander.
Marcus is looking at the laptop of the detective, at the fourth report that shows an image of an article that dates back to 1936. The article says the following: “Young female found strangled in Las Caligula's Beach. Suicide or crime?”. Before Marcus could start reading the article, Malcolm Grimes takes the laptop to make free space for the waitress to bring the food they’ve ordered. After she placed the orders at the table, the group decided to eat it in silence, while Marcus was eating and reading the fourth article because something seemed familiar to him.
