Hours later, a cop and Alexander are standing in a room that has only one table and two chairs, where the two sits on each side. The cop is looking at Alexander, who is looking pale and shaking.
“Tell me. What have you done in the graveyard with your three friends?”
“I don’t remember, sir.” says Alexander to the cop who is looking at him.
“I know you were consuming Jenkem. I have a lot of experiences like this. But. Never something like this.”
“W-What do you mean?” asks Alexander to the cop.
The cop, who is a middle-aged man, stands up from the chair, revealing in this dim light of the room he is a bald man, with blue eyes and a scar on the left cheek from what it looks like to be from a knife attack. The cop walks to a nearby drawer, from there he takes out a folder and places it on the table. Then, the cop looked at Alexander and told him.
“Read it. There are all the cases of people that suffered from Jenkem. Mild and hard ones. But this one you’ve suffered seems to be impossible for me to get a solution and to understand what actually happened.”
“What do you mean by that?” Alexander asks, looking at the first case of Jenkem, where he sees a photo of a boy found in the streets, topless and sunburned.
“As you can see, most of the cases in there are just young men and kids who were consuming this drug and doing weird things. But you four, have done a lot more. First, from the dorm security cameras, we’ve found that you and your friend, Marcus,” he points to the other room where Marcus is also interrogated by another cop. “have almost drowned someone, then you two went to a parking lot, talking to nobody for a while, then you went through McDonald’s, doing the devious things that were shown in the security cameras footage… Thankfully, I did not throw up while I was watching. But thinking about… Really makes me not carve for any burgers for a while. But anyway, you two have come back with an older woman and a man in a red robe, and a goat.”
“I-I don’t remember a man in a red robe.” says Alexander looking at the cop after he reviewed the first case in this folder.
“So you two do not remember the man in the robe. But you remember what happened in the room with the older woman and the goat?”
“I-I don’t know.” lies Alexander.
“This is crucial Alexander,” says the cop approaching him closely, trying to intimidate him to talk. “You have to tell me. What did you do with the goat and the woman in the room?”
“If I tell you,” says Alexander. “you would believe me?”
“Yeah. Now tell me.”
“Alright… We’ve had sex from what I believe. I-I don’t know if we really had sex, but judging from the videos my friend posted on the group chat of the dorm and the pain in my testicles, I can say I was involved in sex.”
“And you did the first time with a woman who is older than you.” signs the cop. “I know you are inexperienced, but God damn.”
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Hey.”
“Sorry.” says the cop, feeling a little bad for making this dumb joke. “Anyway, after this event… The security cameras show you and your friend Marcus, have gone to Selena’s room, where you got her and her roommate high on this Jenkem from what the drug analysis says. She doesn’t say it is Jenkem, but judging by the smell of shit, we can say she got high on Jenkem as well… I know you young people want to experiment something new to have the fulfillment of life or something else, but I know the reasons why you four were doing it… To have some fun after the finals, right?”
“Yeah…”
“I see, I see. You four went on an adventure. You all four left the campus in your Marcu’s friend's car, went to the graveyard where you all four were digging a grave, took from there a watch and ran away with it. We checked the security cameras in the graveyard, and we saw your four silhouettes, running away with a watch. We also checked the casket, took the fingerprints that are related to all of you. We’ve got you doing a lot of crimes on video.”
“I-I don’t remember going to the graveyard, sir.”
“Nor your friend remembers. But Selena, she somehow remembers.”
The cop is looking around, then he looks at Alexander and asks him.
“What have you two done with the other girl?”
“I-I don’t remember.” says Alexander.
“But you remember her name?”
“No.” responds Alexander.
“Her name is Rosa. And we have not found her yet. That’s why we need your help. Think. We’re did you last see her?”
Alexander is not talking, nor breathing, he is thinking. He keeps thinking about the last night they had, trying to piece the pieces of the puzzles that appeared in front of him. The more he thinks about the events that were related by Rudy, Selena, his ex-manager and from the cop in front of him. With the details told by the people, he gains some images from the last night. He remembers something that made him open his eyes wide and looks at the cop.
“How do you know the watch is missing?”
“We saw you on the video.” says the cop. “Showing the watch to the camera.”
“Show the footage.”
“Alright.” responds the cop looking through his phone, opens the video app and shows the clip to Alexander.
Alexander looked at the video of him and his friends where they are digging the grave with shovels from a shack in this graveyard they broke in. The four are digging for about ten minutes, when they break the casket, Alexander takes the watch, and he tells his group something that is incoherent in the video. The group then runs away from the graveyard into their car and drives away from the cemetery, leaving the grave opened, with all the evidence in place and with fingertips.
“I see…” says Alexander. “I remember the watch.”
“Well. What with that watch?” asks the cop looking at Alexander, and retrieving his phone.
“The watch… is the key to stop the curse of this town.”
“What?” asks the cop.
“This town is cursed. The ghosts told me last night. A demon spirit is going through this town, possessing people who suffer from depression, making them jump from a rooftop, cutting their veins, hanging themselves… Killing themselves every Friday when the red moon appears.” he looks at the cop who stood still and listens to this short explanation, then he sighs and asks. “You think I am crazy, right?”
“No.” responds the cop to Alexander. “I am not into supernatural stuff, but from the way you spoke, you tell the truth, kid. Now. Where is the watch? Where have you seen it last time?”
“It was at Rosa.” says Alexander. “And Rosa… I saw her last time at the airport.”
“What was she doing in the airport? You remember?”
Alexander stood there, not speaking a word, he was thinking about Rosa, about the airport, about how she was walking in her normal clothes to gate 12. Then, he said without thinking while he was looking down.
“Mauna Kea.”
