Chapter 2

His brain froze and he could only stare dumbly at the thing coming towards him. It could not be described as human, at least no longer. Its skin had a grey tint to it, its teeth looked sharp at a glance, its eyes were red in colour and were bloodshot. It had a deep gouge on its left side and you could clearly see the red flesh inside. The skin around the gouge was blackened, bloody and smelt bad.

He now understood why it had such a strange gait. It's knee joints couldn't work properly so it had to drag its legs.

"Oh.....a zombie. An undead." He stated dully.

He stared for a few more minutes before his neurons finally started working properly. He took in a deep breath and screamed bloody murder.

"Kyaaaa zombie!!!!"

He then turned on his heels and ran away. He ran like a mad man and didn't stop until he was on the other side of the amusement park, safe behind a door he found. He leaned against the door, holding his breath to try to hear if the zombie came after him. After five minutes of utter silence, he finally relaxed. Turning around, he examined the room in which he landed. He was running blindly earlier and chose to open the first door he saw to hide behind. Strangely, he didn't run into any other people or zombie in his mad dash.

'Wow!' He thought.

He had landed in a room of mirrors. There were various mirrors of varying sizes filling the room from floor to ceiling. It gave the room an ethereal and creepy look. He approached a mirror and laughed out loud at seeing his reflection. He looked like a distorted blob. Each mirror showed a distorted version of himself and he had fun running to a few to see what effect it would show.

With his short attention span, he had completely forgotten about the zombie. He kept on running around like an idiot until he finally stopped in front of a mirror that showed an elongated version of his lower body but a normal reflection of his upper body. His smile froze on his face as he stared at his face. More precisely his eyes and teeth. He may not remember much of his life, but he was quite sure that his eyes were never red and that his teeth were never this sharp.

In fact now that he thought about it, his body had felt a little strange since he woke up. He was not out of breath after running such a long distance earlier and his speed was not normal either. He hesitatingly placed a hand on his chest, "oh.....I have no heartbeat."

He left his hand there, hoping in vain that he would maybe start feeling a heartbeat if he waited long enough. After a long moment of facing his red eyes in the mirror, with his hand still on his chest, he had to face the cruel reality.

"I am dead." He let that thought sink in thoroughly before starting to run around like a headless chicken.

"OH MY GOD I AM AN UNDEAD! A ZOMBIE! AHHH I AM A MONSTER! WHAT DO I DO?!"

After a few hours of freaking out, he finally approached the mirror again to analyse his features. His mid-length black hair, his unnaturally pale skin, slanted red eyes, small ruby red lips hiding sharp teeth, small upturned nose. Except for the eyes, teeth and pale as death skin, pun not intended, he looked quite normal.

" I don't look like the zombie I saw. In fact will the humans accept me or will they treat me as a monster if they see me? Will i have to hide my eyes and teeth forever? Or maybe I can try interacting with the zombies? After all, even if it smelt bad and was ugly, it didn't attack me. And I haven't seen any humans around since I woke up. I also don't know if they would attack me on sight. Look at me! Already separating myself from the humans! Go me! Love yourself and all that! But am I really a zombie? I don't really look like one and I don't feel like eating human flesh."

He tried imagining eating bloody raw human flesh before shuddering in disgust, "Ugh, yuck no! Just not for me! I look like some sort of hybrid. Maybe I should find that zombie again and try to......ummm communicate with it." He muttered to himself.

After debating the pros and cons for a few hours, he finally decided to try his chance with the zombie. Having made his decision, he immediately got up to his feet, gave himself a wide smile through a mirror and walked out cautiously.
