Chapter 16

Much later,Midori was lamenting that he really should have chosen eternal sleep.

Midori took a deep unnecessary breath and slowly exhaled, “Tsuki you can’t just decide to create a zombie dog! At least let’s ask Alphonse’s opinion first.”

Tsuki: “But he won’t last long! He is on his last breath!”

Midori: “Let’s run quickly and go see if Alphonse is already back. It won’t take long! We are already in deep muddy waters! I am going to get decapitated if we come back with a zombie dog! He told me not to let you get into trouble! So let’s go back quickly if only to prevent me from knowing if I can die when my head is separated from my body!”

Midori looked at Tsuki’s strange expression, “….why are you making that face?”

Tsuki had a constipated look on his face. He tried to do some sort of signal with his eyes but failed to convey the meaning.

Midori: “I can’t understand your eye signals! Just say it!”

Tsuki looked at him blankly and whispered, “I wished I was hallucinating but Alphonse is standing behind you…We are screwed anyway.”

Midori turned like a robot and froze when he saw Alphonse’s black stare.

Midori: ‘Eternal sleep is looking more and more appealing right now.’

Let us rewind a little.

**One hour-ish ealier**

After ten minutes of waiting for Alphonse to come back, Tsuki turned to Midori, "And he said that he would come back quickly."

Midori sweatdropped, "it's only been ten minutes."

Tsuki: " quick means coming back at or before five minutes!"

"You are way too impatient! Just sit still and wait a little more!" Midori exclaimed.

There was silence in the trailer as Tsuki rested his chin on his hand and Midori stared blankly outside.

This silence didn't last long as Tsuki suddenly sat straight up and cocked his head to the side, like a dog standing at attention.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Midori side-eyed him and sighed mentally,

'Here we go. I feel like I will be sighing a lot in the future.'

Tsuki was unaware of the child-zombie's thought and asked, "did you hear that?"

Midori: "Hear what?"

Tsuki: "That sound!"

Midori listened intently and really heard something!

Tsuki: " It sounds like a dog! It is crying with pain!"

Midori watched dumbly as Tsuki opened the door, " wait! Where do you think you are going?!"

Tsuki got out and turned to look at him, "It sounds like it is being butchered! I can't just sit there when an innocent animal is crying out like this! I am going to take a look."

Midori stammered, " but Alphonse.."

Tsuki: " Alphonse will have to understand. This is an emergency! I'll leave a note for him. Now, are you coming or not?"

Midori quickly scooted his backside along the seat and got out, "Of course I am coming! What would I say to Alphonse if he came back and saw only me! Better go with you and make sure you don't get in too much trouble. Really, isn't it supposed to be the other way around?"

Tsuki had finished writing the note as Midori ranted. He stuck it under the windshield-wipers, "yes yes I am sorry. Now, let's go."

And so, one child-zombie ran behind a foolish zombie while chanting in his head, 'I am dead! Wait I am already dead! I am deader than dead, completely screwwwwwed! I hope that there are some useless beings there on whom I can switch the blame.'

On the other hand Alphonse had successfully infiltrated the building and stealthily made his way towards the emergency room on their floor. In this building, each team had their own quarters and their own emergency room. Only the best of the best were allowed to stay here, that is why they did not hold back on expenses and could afford to offer such facilities.

Along the way he had come across a lot of zombies which he knew when he was still human. They all instinctively avoided him when they sensed that he was dangerous and was at a higher level than them. So his way to said room progressed smoothly. He had already disabled all the cameras on his path and had already made a trip to the security room to destroy all videos of him and his companions. He had also taken the chance to cut all the wires to disable all the other cameras and destroyed all the machines.

He successfully reached the door and knocked on it with a particular pattern. Afterwards, he immediately took a step back and waited patiently in the shadows. A few seconds later the heavy door was opened slightly to show the muzzle of a gun and part of a head.

“Name and code!” The person inside demanded.

Alphonse calmly replied him and the door was opened a little more.

“*******, is it really you?” The person asked.

“Yes. Don’t call me by that name anymore. ******* is dead. I go by Alphonse now. Are all of you alive?” Alphonse replied.

A female voice was heard inside and she quickly pushed the other person away and completely opened the door, “open it already! Can’t you hear that it is him! Who can sound as cold as this when asking if we are okay? Get inside quickly! Letting the door open too long will propagate our scent and attract those things! Specially since we have one bitten in here!”

Alphonse quickly got inside and saw that all of the people on his team were present.

“By the way, what did you mean by saying that ******* is dead….” The woman’s words trailed off as she saw Alphonse clearly. The corridor outside was quite dark as most of the power had been cut off, so she couldn’t clearly see her friend. But now…

“What the hell?! What happened to you?! Are you a zombie?!” The woman exclaimed.

The man with the gun quickly raised it again and the others were on their guard.

Alphonse rolled his eyes, “put that away. If I wanted to kill you I would have already done so. And yes I am a zombie. But not like those outside. Don’t compare me to them. It’s an insult.”

He slammed the door shut on these words.
