Administrator Takahashi Tojo and Administrator Ashley Miller

Administrator Takahashi Tojo and Administrator Ashley Miller

Uptown Manhattan, Technology District

Takahashi pours a glass of whisky, he swirls it around just a bit. "Before we get down to business, I would like to say thank you for answering my call and congratulations, you're an Administrator and the youngest, only at 23. The council must love you."

"Thank you, Administrator Takahashi. Aren’t the other Administrators joining?"

"Yeah, they're not joining the summit but that's ok."

"Pull up file [Sleeping Wolf]."

Of course, master.

"Before her recruitment she was studying as an anthropologist, ancient humanity and their ancient technology in South Africa, before humanity learned how to stand again. She spent several years searching for that ancient technology since her early days in high school. That changed when news of her mother dying from an unknown neurological disease. Four years after her mother's passing, her father developed severe dementia, it only exacerbated with the passing of his late wife. Venessa lost interest in her previous work switching gears to study neural abnormalities; she was underfunded and lacked the appropriate resources to pursue her goal of finding a cure until Aisha took her under her wing. Aisha has this keen eye for untapped potential unlike the other Administrators who prefer statistics over maximum long term potential."

Takahashi swipes the holo-display.

"Yes, I'm aware of her choice for her failed successor. I still don't understand. Why Professor Wingate specifically? There were thousands of suitable candidates with more appealing experience."

"As I mentioned earlier, Professor Wingate was studying remnants of ancient humanity before the Great Flood. When I was attending the academy as an exchange student. Aisha, she too was studying the old ways of mankind. Majority of her research and lectures were about the ancient lands of Babylonia and the Tower of Babel, South America, South East Asia, and Antarctica. She believes that our ancient predecessors mastered technological road map, achieving things that were said to be impossible before our current technological age."

Ashley pulls both Venessa and Aisha photos towards her. "Genesis 11:1–9, the tower of Babel was built with the joint hands of mankind to prove the gods wrong that humanity doesn't need them and they can thrive on their own. The construction of the tower was a projection of humanity's power of self-reliance."

"In an absolute fit of rage, the God of the Heavens destroyed the tower for humanity's defiance, butchered their singular tongue and into thousands, their devoted divine believers who worshipped the divine rule acted on behalf of their gods ravaging humanity's achievements reducing it to nothing."

"The Forgotten Wonder, What was she looking for, Administrator Takahashi?"

"Aisha believed that our ancient predecessors created a template…"

"What kind of template?"

"This piece of technology isn't like any normal physical templates that we use today for bioengineering. This one was a digital version, indexed and categorized, spoken in the forgotten language. After years of deciphering the first paragraph, she discovered it was a whole new architype… new generation of humanity, man and synthetic life in one, it was our predecessors weapon in challenging the supernatural, the divine and demonic forces that plagued them for generations."

"That's not possible. The International Science Community is permanently banned from creating any forms of Artificial Intelligence let alone a synthetic life form after the mess up on the moon. All programs relating to Artificial Intelligence research have been shelved or destroyed. And The World Security Council made sure of that, the only three AI's exist."

"Those three were built long before the law was signed. Well that's not going to stop those with an unbreakable ambition, now is it? progress is being made as we speak, you and I wouldn't be working. You still have a lot to learn if you're going to be an acting Administrator."

"Right. What role did Professor Wingate have in this project?"

"Her role was simple, creating an artificial cipher to decode the forgotten language on that template. However, her work stalled when her father passed on from natural cases, it was then she changed fields studying neural diseases, using her knowledge to create the Synapse Network. Her Network was solely for the use to further enhance medicine, physical health, and human the psyche."

"And let me guess, Aisha screwed her over?"

Takahashi raised his glass with a visible smile.

"Not before the government got involved sometime down the road, confiscating her work and prosecuting her for the cover up of the failed trial even though she wasnt the one who initiated the cover up. Soon she went on a crusade to clear her name and expose the board's lies, not liking the out come of the situation. Relocation was the only option to keep her silent."

"And yet?"

"Her resurgence and persistence towards the borad has the commity buzzing, questioning whether or not the board of administrators power is being challenged and if they all should do the same, this isn't the first something like this happened."

"I was told the Borad of Administrators held power that can influence even the world government's into getting what it wants. To be challenged by two people and turn tail, no wonder investors slowly back peddleing out of a pending disaster."

"Ashley, we're both Administrators of our respected Overlords. If there’s one Administrator we have to be wary of whither new or currently in power, its current Chief Science Officer Aisha. She may be a former Administrator; her reach still extends farther than any other Administrator now and before. I shouldn't reminded who taught Professor Wingate."

"Administrator Takahashi, you sound ridiculous. There are seven Administrators and one of them. Neither of them can challenge us all, I remember from her personal data, all her assets were seized, Aisha doesn't have any power to challenge us."

"You're wrong, Administrator Ashley. She has been around longer than you and I have. I'm certain that she's was already preparing for something."

"Against what?"

"Not sure, that's why I recruited her former star pupil to work for me. I was able to gain access into the Eli Edmonton Institution database and pulled some interesting documents regarding our colleague's research. She's been hiding her daughter under Fort Ticonderoga for some time now after she was banned from the US."

"Makes no sense, why?"

"I had the same thought but with Venessa’s help I was able access Aisha's old personal terminal and pulled this from her archives. She must have forgotten to purge her terminal before being deported back to Egypt."

[Project Second Chance]

Ashley reaches for the file but the holo-display shuts off.

"Now, I would let you in on it but this is classified information under my intuition. Let's not get off topic. The Synapse Network?"

Ashley scowls at Takahashi's snarky smile.

"Yes, her Network achieved something that we couldn't do in the past, its only been replicated twice in upstate New York. A living AI, in the time of the event, origin fields readings where off the charts and matched with previous records during the Lunar Calamity. After confiscating Professor Wingate's research, my team searched the remnants of the network and found something rather… strange."

Ashley placed her hand on the table activating the holo-display, a soft melody played.

"A signal?"

"Not just some signal, a sentient one, capable of communicating. Whatever Aisha did up on the moon resorted to this signal being made and hacked into every piece of software and hardware on the planet. We avoided absolute destruction by a thin margin. But out of nowhere it showed up once again in upstate New York and in Professor Wingate's Synapse Network."

"I don't remember hearing anything like that, but I can agree with the hackings. I was certain it was an enemy attack…"

"But it wasn't, that signal was communicating with every AI platform created in the world and sent out this signal but analyst weren't able to deconstruct the single because its unusual patterns."

Takahashi checks his Network Sleeve as it flashes red.

"Unfortunately I have an important matter to attend to, one last question for you, newcomer. An important one. Do you know how an Administrator keeps their power and influence in the community?"

"Yes, the [PICERAS Project]. My overlord informed me about its existence and how crucial it is to the council's research and existence. Each pillar under an Administrator projects their power on the world stage. Without one under them, their influence is threatened."

Ashley took a moment thinking about the mentioned project, in fact she didn't know anything about the project's details. "How was the project launched?"

"You're worrying about the How but not the Who? many powerful organizations grabbed a piece for themselves after Aisha cracked open the template. Because of her humanity technological advancement leaped 200 years forward. I should go, I'll be seeing you around, Administrator Ashley. You should greet the other Administrators when you get the chance."

The hologram of Administrator Ashley fades away as sunlight enters the office.
