Chapter One

Part One

June 23rd, Downtown Manhattan, Doctor Hunter High School

“As you all are aware. People who are born with biotic abilities are called Biotics, simple enough. The new system categorizes every biotic from 1 to 5 based on their abilities, how they are utilized, and physical aptitude. There are three known types of biotics, Type-1's-Environmental Manipulators, this type are mostly psychic and telepathic orientated, Type-2's-Augmented, this type is relatively new to the system, it's currently a work in progress to find more people who meet the augmentation trials check list, and Type-3's-Internal Manipulators, unable to exploit surrounding ambient energies unlike Type-1's however, not limited. There has been extensive research about one such occurrence were a type-3 was able to control the temperature of a room. They are fully capable of adapting to their environment, using internal ambient energy most commonly known internal sources are thermodynamics and bioelectricity,” the teacher next to the podium said, facing the holo-display.

“Every person that is born with biotic powers is born with stigmata nodules embedded deep in various regions of the body, a genetic mutation accelerated by the Lunar Calamity, its still a mystery on when the mutation actually started. These abilities can be honed through rigorous training through a Biotic Development Program and Civilian R&D Volunteers Programs.” The woman changes the next slide to a few graphs.

“Stigmata nodules are small organs the same size as a green pea, unique to every biotic. Training solutions and daily routines differ from person to person and ability,” the teacher said walking to the front of her classroom.

A student at the back of the class raise his hand. "I still don't understand, Ms. Woods. Why are Type-3's the least studied compared to their counterparts? I mean, we know more about Type-1's and 2's than we do with Type-3's. Why not continue studying the known?"

The teacher smiled closing her book. "And the answer is within your own question. Type-3 Biotic's are scarce, only 1 in 7,000,000 biotics are born a Type-3, now you do the math, my dear. We know very little about Type-3's and their architype, they are born with various supernatural physical and psychological attributes in correspondence to their abilities or vice-versa. And yet, researchers from around the world still can't understand how its possible for a human to suddenly evolve in such a short time, opening a new chapter in the Human Evolution."

In the middle of her lecture the students began asking about a strange order in the air looking around the classroom.

A sudden flash of blueish-white light filled the room followed by a thunderous boom shaking the classroom. The students quickly took cover under their desks looking at one another.

“What the hell was that!”

“My ears hurt!”

The teacher turns her attention towards the window unmoved by the flashes of light and explosions.

“They’re starting this early with his exam?”

“Are they using the field as the testing sight!” A student yelled as he yanked on his ear.

“Who do you think it is?”

“Who else can it be? It's that 11th grader.”

The students talked among their peers as the sound of explosions reverberated through the classroom.

A girl sitting at the front raised her hand. “Hey, Ms. Woods, is there a chance I can reach his category with enough training through the programs?”

The teacher nods softly, rejecting her student's question changing the slide. “Unfortunate, you can’t. He’s a special case when it comes to Biotics, he’s outside of the known system falling into a world of his own. Those with such a status see the world differently from other Biotics, the extraordinary blending in with the ordinary.” She changes her focus on her class. “That one is the true definition of adaptation, already understanding how to use his abilities. A possible new generation of human.”

Explosions continued to shake the classroom, the students covered their ears, flinching from the crack of thunder.

*******

Behind the school, the field that was being used for data gathering didn’t resemble its former self, instead, it looked more like a battleground. Smoking craters, scorched earth, and broken machine parts scattered across the melting turf. The smell of burning rubber and plastic overwhelmed the pungent smell of ozone.

“Physical Test data analyzed and recorded. Mental Chronometry benchmark test: 0.10 seconds, Visual stimulus: 0.11 seconds, Auditory stimulus: 0.15 seconds, Touch stimulus: 0.10 seconds. Average Voltage Output: 65 million volts, Calculating performance, Biotic Type: 3.” A group of white coats on the bleachers relaying their data to the doctor.

Kuniva tossed a coin sized object up into the air looking at the damage done by him.

“It’s unusual for you to do both my physical test and biotic test in one day. What brought this on, Doctor. L?” he asked the woman in the white lab coat.

“I’m going on vacation soon and two weeks from now Summer Vacation starts for you high schoolers. I wanted to complete your phycial test as soon as possible and get it back to the labs,” she said typing on her computer just on the outside of the soccer field.

“I thought doctors and researchers don’t get vacation time.”

“Of course we do, just not all the time.”

Kuniva walked up to the woman’s workstation and placed the alloy coin in a briefcase. She takes a look at the coin and at Kuniva.

“How’s the feeling of the new prototype alloy?”

Knuiva looks at the quarter sized object with a hint of mixed feelings about the object. “Poor electrical conductivity, too high of a melting point, feels weightless hindering the stopping power (Kinetic energy) but excellent thermal conductivity. The alloy can be used for other applications, just not this one.”

The woman took the coin out of its container and began analyzing it.

“What do you suggest we do when manufacturing a new batch?” she asked, placing the piece of equipment back inside its case.

Kuniva strokes his chin. “Maybe use a different alloy formula?” He suggested to her.

“That’s a bit vague but I’ll make sure to include your input for the others to read. And that’s all for now you can leave.”

Kuniva picks up his backpack walking back to the school. As he walks back to the school, he ponders about the prototype alloy. That alloy would most benefit computers a new generation terminal band. I’m hungry. I wonder what they have for lunch today?

*******

“Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches, my favorite,” Kuniva said sarcastically as he unwrapped the sandwich and took a bite out of it. He chews for a few seconds and gulps it down.

“Bleh! too much peanut butter not enough jelly,” he said bitterly as he washed it down with chocolate milk. He displayed a bitter expression as he shoves the plastic tray off to the right of him.

“What’s up, you really had the whole school shaking this morning,” Jasmine touted sitting down at Kuniva’s lunch table unwarping her sandwich scarfing it down without caring about table manners.

“Seriously? I mean I wouldn't be surprised that the whole neighborhood heard it.”

“Uh huh. It was pretty loud. It made the jumpy gym teacher panic more than my classmates.”

“Hey Jaz, slow down will you. You're going to choke.”

Jasmine pauses just realizing her surroundings changing her bad eating manners with table manners. "Sorry, but my power takes everything out of me. This is the fastest way for me to recover."

“Anyways, what do you expect when there’s no acoustic damper like water to absorb the sound. With the simulation room currently under maintenance they changed my testing site to the big field to get my physical data and a bit of prototype metal data. I’m starting to think that your ability is way more convenient.” Kuniva gaps his index finger and thumb generating electric arches.

“Hey, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence, you know,” Jasmine said pointing at his sandwich.

Kuniva gave her the go ahead, Jasmine rubbed her hands together taking the sandwich.

“Unlike you Jaz, I disturb other people, animals, and electronics around me.” Kuniva hands her a napkin so she can wipe the bits of breadcrumbs from her face.

“Now I feel livelier. Come on, don’t let that fog up that zapping brain of yours. You’re the only biotic crowned with one of the Fundamental forces, the best this city has to offer. No one can make use of electromagnetism the way you can and I’m not saying that to make you feel good.”

Kuniva takes the orange off Jasmine tray and peels it.

“Fine words, those are, thanks. Jaz.”

Jasmine chugs her chocolate milk.

“Ah~! come on. You gotta be more confident in yourself, like my pops told me, keep your head up and chest out and fist balled tight,” Jasmine said.

The lunch period bell rings, everyone cleans up after themselves and vacates the lunchroom.

Kuniva and Jasmine marched up the stairs to the third floor and entered the gym. They tossed their bags onto the bleachers.

Jasmine grabs a basketball from the rack and shots it into the basket from the 3-point line. The net made a Swissh sound as the ball went in.

“Oh yeah, that reminds me, stay out of trouble and leave the peacemaking and security to Public Safety.”

Kunvia stood under the rim catching the ball and passed it back to her.

“Yeah, I don’t know about that one, Jaz. It’s 100x faster if I take care of the situation myself. Public Safety isn’t always going to be around when help is needed,” Kuniva said sternly.

“Oh boy, not this again. Look, even though you’re one of two Unranked Biotics of Kings County but to us Public Safety servants you’ll still be considered a civilian.” Jamine’s tone changed as she grills Kuniva.

Jasmine shot the ball again, missing the hoop by a foot. Kuniva grabs the ball and stands behind the 3-point line.

“Right. I’ll keep that in the back of my mind. Swissh!”

“Don’t keep it back there, move it to the front of your head. It’ll be more useful.”

Kuniva understood what she was saying, picking fights is only going to draw in more problems for him especially for a biotic like himself.

“I found you sis you never answer my calls,” a boy with a dark fade said walking onto the court dribbling a basketball.

“Oh, Marquis.”

Jasmine greeted the boy with a series of kisses and hugs, the boy wormed himself away from his sister's arms. He wipes away the kisses as his face turns red scowling.

“Aren’t you supposed to be at the office by now, sis?” Marquis said, shooting the ball into the basket.

“Nah, not yet. I still have time before I have to go in for my second shift. I have to keep my ball skills sharp as a razor.” Jasmine puts up three fingers and shoots the ball, but the ball flies over the hoop instead.

“Right, skills. Oh, you’re Knuiva right?”

“Yep in the flesh,” Kuniva said, shooting the ball into the whoop.

“Oh man, my sister sure does talk about you alot when she called home or visited.”

Kuniva shivered, making him miss his shot. “Sheesh! I don’t know what to say.”

Marquis chuckles then freezes in place; Jasmine glares at her brother, staring deep into his eyes, "I'll give mom a call later."

It wasn't long until the bell rings, Kuniva, Jasmine and Marquis vacated the school walking through the park, they stopped by the store purchasing a few drinks.

“While you were out this morning patrolling, more of those cases involving the string of explosions, a string of burglaries, and arson. And the cases keep on piling up.” Marquis glares at the recycling bin and shoots the empty can in.

“Tuh! Have fun with that. Someone ought to make a device that can neutralize biotic abilities,” Kuniva said.

This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.

“Now that you brought up that idea. There have been plans to block the use of abilities through the advantage of the stigmata nodules in the brain,” Jasmine replies.

“However, stigmata nodules are part of a massive system. Stigmata nodules can’t operate without the nervous system. If anything, that idea is extremely hazardous especially to those who are fully augmented. Who knows what can happen to the person if the device were to have a glitch,” Marquis said pointing out the flaws in the theoretical device.

As they walked, Marquis noticed something odd with the building across the street. He stops looking at the shutters where the windows would be located.

“Hey, Sis?”

“Yeah?”

Marquis points towards the building across the street. “We didn't get a notice for banks to go into lock down...”

The shutters were blasted open, people within the area holler as they ran for cover. Some even lay on the ground behind cover.

“We got the cash. Now let’s move out!”

Three men holding assault rifles and black duffle bags jumping out the destroyed window. One of the armed men looked around from one end of the block to the next. “They haven’t gotten here yet which means we have time.”

Jasmine sets her backpack down and takes out a small metal box holding several small glistening titanium skewers. She grabs four skewers and closes the box.

“Marquis, call the main branch and have them send help for the wounded. And keep an eye on my box.”

“I’m way ahead of you, and only four?” Marquis said, putting a ear piece in his ear and taking a pad out of his backpack.

“I can get more if needed. Kuniva you stay here and don’t do anything rash please?”

“That’s if I can.”

Jasmine sighs and teleports across the street inside the ruined bank interior.

“Stop right there, I’m with the 156th Branch of Public Safety. Put down your weapons and turn yourselves in. Don’t make this harder than it has to be,” Jasmine said with a booming voice getting the armed men's attention.

“Public Safety is already here, what’s this?”

The armed burglars paused for a split second then aimed their rifles at Jasmine.

“We were expecting to have a run in with the big dogs, but they sent in the puppy. I don’t like hurting kids, that isn’t my forte, however I’ll make an exception just for today.”

They all pulled the trigger, but nothing happened. They continued to squeeze their triggers. The results were the same.

One of the armed men noticed several 11 inch pieces of metal rods going through his partner’s magazine and barrel. That gave him the instinct to look at his own weapon.

“That damn kid sabotaged the weapons with metal spikes.” He threw his weapon on the floor and rushed Jasmine with a knife.

As fluid as water flowed down a stream, Jasmine evaded the charging man, pivoting on the ball of her foot. Jasmine high kicked the charging attacker in the back of the head. It was one heavy strike knocking the grown man out.

The other two men glared at each other then at their fallen partner that was easily taken out by a girl.

“What do we do man?!” the frantic man shouted, grabbing his partner by the collar shaking him.

He grunts, pushing the pale man off him.

“You damn jackass. We fight back!”

He tossed the malfunctioning weapon to the side and held out his hand out, a ball of fire formed in the palm of his hand out of thin air.

Pyrokinesis. It can get bad if he goes crazy with his ability. I’ll resort to this. Jasmine shrugs her shoulders and gives the man a smug look.

“You could have made this heist a bit easier if you had shown your ace from the beginning. If I were you, I would have created a plan for a better get away. A small weak power like that, it’s going to frighten the main branch or even so make them flench.” Jasmine mocks the man.

The man became irritated listening to her. The flame whirling around in his hand intensified growing twice its original size.

“I’m a Category 2, just my level alone would warrant others to fear me when they see me!”

“Uh? You're what now? Category 2? That's all you got? It's a pretty neat ability that must have taken you a long time to get this far with it. Why did you stop at just Category 2? Did you convince yourself that this was your best or is it because you can only control fire but not create it?”

“Uhm… I…” the man’s face tightens.

“Ohh hoo! Looks like the heat is up in this kitchen.” Jasmine snickers at the man.

The flame increased in size again. “How about I cremate you and send your family an ash package!” He charged at Jasmine with a hand of fire unleashing whirling flame, just as he closed in on Jasmine in near reach she vanished before the man's eyes.

“She’s gone? Wait, she's…!”

Jasmine kicks the man in the back of the head knocking him to the floor face first, she steps on the man’s back and cuffs him.

“See how easy it would have been if you had listened to me? I dont want to be forced to use lethal action, now don’t move.”

In the midst of the commotion one of the bank accomplice made a run for the opening and jumps into a car and floors the peddle making a fast break. He looked into the review window sweating profusely. “I remember that face! She’s that Category 5 Phase Shifter, Voidrunner. No matter how far you go she’ll know where to find you. How the hell is a person supposed to fight against that?”

The car sharply turns the corner, missing a truck onto a one way street. “But she won’t…” The man squints seeing a lonesome teenager standing in the middle of the street, he snickers gripping the steering wheel and pressing the gas pedal to the floor.

The boy stood in the middle of the street watching the vehicle approach, snapping his finger, he could see the driver's eyes. He saw how determined the man was in running him over.

Blueish-white arcs of electricity buzzed and zapped around him as he remained rooted to the asphalt as the car was within 500ft the vehicle was sliced down the middle splitting in half like someone had taken a plasma cutter and increased its power.

The vehicle were wedged apart, the two halves slid across the asphalt and into a light post, Kuniva walked away from the accident unharmed and unphased. The driver crawls out the other half laying on the ground dazed looking at the front of the totaled vehicle with a broken will, he drops to his knees with his hands behind his head with terror in his eyes.

Soon Public Safety arrived at the scene.

“What an unfortunate soul your friend is. Running into an Unranked.” Jasmine cuffed the driver admiring her friend.

The leader in the back of the Public Safety van looked up at Jasmine and repeated her words with disbelief.

“In this high-tech state of 6.892 million people, out of those numbers only seven can out class even a Category 5. I advise you to change your ways because next time you encounter another one, you might not get off so easily.”

A few minutes after apprehending the burglars Public Safety arrived taking the suspects away.

*******

“The report for casualties are three, all minor injuries,” Marquis said, handing his supervisor a holo-pad.

“I didn’t start out strong, it has taken me years to get where I am. You have potential in you. If you keep working hard you’ll be able to get the main branch's attention, or perhaps join them,” Jasmine said wholeheartedly to the man.

“Tch! To think I'll be taking a lecture from a child.” The man said as the officers put the last I in the back of the tuck with his other companions.

After the situation was settled and the return of normalcy. Jasmine wraps her arm around Kunvia’s neck and reels him in. “I told you not to get involved. I nearly had my ear chewed off by my senior.” Jasmine pokes Kuniva in the chest repeatedly.

Knuiva sighed lightly as he listened to his friend lecture him about staying out of public safety affairs. At this point he was used to her picking at him about Public Safety affairs. “I’m far from ordinary, Jaz. And besides, I’m just being a good citizen is that wrong?”

“Ok I’ll let it slide but they don't do crazy crap like that, try to minimize the damage. Hey, let’s get something to eat. All you can eat, courtesy of our Kuniva.” Jasmine bows to Kuniva.

“No way. I don’t have money to splurge on food for everyone,” Kuniva said but he knew the outcome of protesting against it.

*******

Kuniva taps the table with his index finger drinking his cold lemonade. He gulps it all down and eats the lemon wedge.

“You owe me, Jaz,” Kuniva said, handing the waitress his empty glass. Jasmine stuffs her face with a variety of foods that she ordered. She gives Kuniva a thumbs up as she feasts on her meal.

Kuniva wasn’t as bothered as anyone else would be. “If there’s one thing I would ask from Jaz is to please don’t scoff down your food like a seagull.”

Kuniva wasn’t pigged out at his friend’s poor table manners, one would think a girl from a well-known high school would have proper public manners. But Jasmine didn't care if food comes first.

However, Marquis couldn’t bear witness to the horror before him. “Can you please stop eating like that? For goodness sake you attend one of the most famed schools in the city. Grandma taught us better.”

Jasmine slowly leans into her brother’s face puckering her syrupy lips.

Marquis leans away, it was natural for a sibling to react that way. “Ouh! Get away you're getting syrup all over the place, geez! Anyway, remember the cases regarding the synchrotron explosions?”

Jasmine tries to answer her brother with a mouth full of food she begins to choke, her face turned red. She snitches the fresh drink out of the waitress hand and gulps the drink down and sighed in relief.

“Gah! Unsweetened lemonade with extra lemon pulp. Yea, what about them?” she hands the empty glass to the waitress and wipes her mouth with a napkin.

“In one of the reports, the bombs have been placed in specific points in the city, mainly densely populated areas. The bombs used from before didn’t match what was recently used.”

“Change to what?”

“Toys, bags, basically anything at this point.”

“What kind of twisted person would do something like that?” Kuniva said sharply, looking disgusted.

“Here’s your refill.” The waitress came back, bringing him a refill.

“Because it’s difficult to distinguish the real from the doups many Public Safety Servants have fallen victim to these explosions. Now we have to tread lightly, if it’s not Public Safety it might end up being a civilian.”

"We can catch the bombs before they're set off with a synchrotron detector," Jasmine added.

"That's true but we can't detect the bombs if there isn't a constant synchrotron flow to detect. People could end up seriously hurt in a blink of an eye," Marquis said.

"Any action would be too late," Jasmine uttered.

Another waitress shows up at their table with a large bowl of vanilla ice cream. “Here’s your dessert, enjoy.”

Marquis picks up his spoon ready to go for the first bite, but he pauses when a shadow looms over him, he shivers.

“Well well, what do we have here~? What a mighty fine-looking dessert you have there. You don’t mind if I have some right?”

“No way get your own,” Marquis said, covering his ice cream keeping his sister from getting to his food.

Jasmine reaches into her pocket for her phone and scrolls. Just as Marquis digs into his dessert Jasmine yanks him by the collar and drags him from his seat.

“Sorry to interrupt your love story, little bro but we have things to do right now.”

“Noo…! Please I didn’t even get a bite! I paid so much for that masterpiece!”

“Eh, I’ll buy a new one the next time we stop by.”

Kuniva waved as Marquis got dragged out of the dinner. He picked up the menu. “Glad I’m not part of Public Safety. What a hassle--”

“Why are you just sitting there and not going with them?” A girl wearing a Public Safety badge stood in front of Kuniva scowling with her arms crossed.

Kuniva looks around the store to see who the girl was talking to then points at himself.

“…”

“Who else am I talking too? You’re a member of Public Safety and as a member of Public Safety it is your duty to make sure that the people of this city are safe.”

The girl points at the badge at the center of the table. “Well, what are you waiting for? Put your badge on and get out there with them.”

Kuniva awkwardly looked at the badge and laughed to himself. Damn, one of them must have left their badge here and by her bossy nature and black badge she’s a senior member of this district's Public Safety, a college student.

Kuniva looks up at the girl shaking his head pointing at the badge.

Growing impatient with him, she snatched the badge and drags him out of the dinner.

“Whoa! This is a misunderstanding. I’m not with Public Safety--”

“That’s what all new members say to get themselves out of work. I won’t have lazy juniors. Not at all.”

She pulls Kuniva pulls by the arm down the street. He tried to reason with the Public Safety Senior, but she was convinced he’s a Public Safety member.

“It’s deplorable that you don’t have a Public Safety ID.”

“That’s because I'm not part of Public Safety!”

The girl stopped and took a closer look at Kuniva inspecting him from head to toe, after a few seconds her face lit up. Seeing this reaction of her’s, he became overjoyed that she finally got it correct.

“Now I get it! You’re a volunteer.”

“You’re still wrong. This badge doesn’t belong to me, it's my…” Well at least he thought she would figure it by now but it was far from it.

“This is a problem because without your identification card you can’t access high security level buildings.”

“Oh, for the love of… you’re not even listening to me. Please hear me out, you got the wrong person, lady. This badge belongs to one of my friends that works for Public…”

“Then that means you’ll help me search right?”

It feels like I’m talking to a wall. He sighed, giving up on reasoning with the girl and took the badge and pinned it to his sweater. “Ok, what's the agenda, boss?”

“A missing laptop travel bag.”

"A laptop bag, why would you… now I see.” He then remembered Marquise talking about the recent bombings happening in the city putting those two together it clicked in his head. That bag might be a bomb.

“Sorry for trying to skip out on work like that. I’m ready to work.” Kuniva pumped his fist with determination in his eyes ready to take on any challenge.

“That’s what I like to hear from our new volunteers. That enthusiasm is 100% genuine. Come on now, we have work to do.”

They traverse the area in search of the missing bag. Kuniva squeezes into every nook and cranny, checking every Cafe, and library in the vicinity.

“I’m getting tired, let’s take a quick rest,” the girl said, taking a seat on the bench drinking her water.

Kuniva stuck around a bit longer looking in the bushes and said, “We’ve been searching for an hour and don’t have any leads to this missing laptop bag. Can you get a better source for your information, so we don’t have to look in random places?”

The girl ponders. “Hmm…Alright let’s look over there maybe we’ll find it.” The girl gets up walking off.

Kuniva follows her to the dense park center. Looking at the people from adult to children his thoughts on finding the missing bag weighed heavy on his conscience. Out of all places a park full of children. It Feels like a bad action movie.

“Should we tell them vacat… no that would only start a panic and then Jasmine will be pissed that I’m involved in this. Oh, wait, I'm a volunteer today.”

Kuniva retracted that idea and silently continues searching the area while she rests. I must find that blasted bag. The casualties would be too great if it went off. Looking under a park bench he felt someone kick him in the rear causing him to hit his head on the way up followed by children's laughter.

“Hey you little punks! Stay outta my way, damn it!”

“Bleh! Run, the old man is angry!” the little boy said running away with his friends.

“Hmm?” Just when Kuniva was about to resume his search he found himself surrounded by children.

“Hey are you rich?”

“Buy us some ice cream!”

“Why do you smell like rain?”

Kuniva found himself surrounded on all sides and back against the bench, being bombarded with endless waves of inquiries from the curious kids as they slowly boxed him in. Where did y'all come from? Go play or go home. Didn’t your parents teach you not to talk to strangers? Where are your parents?

“Hey, look, he's a high school student from Doctor Hunter High School!”

“Awe man, he doesn’t have any money, he can’t even buy us ice cream, how do you survive?” one boy asked, scavenging through Kuniva’s wallet.

“Hey, you little punk, Give me that!”

Kuniva snatched his wallet from the boy, taking a silent look at the emptiness of his wallet.

The Public Safety Senior gazes over her shoulder at Kuniva as he bickers with the children as they climb all over him. “Geez, what is he doing playing with the children when he’s supposed to be looking for the missing…!?”

A midsized dog with a brown laptop bag wrapped around its body pauses staring the girl in the eyes. “Dog? Bag?” slowly reaching for the bag the dog suddenly makes a run for it. She tried to chase after the dog, but the K-9 was fast and nimble.

“Gah! Hey, new kid, get that dog, it has the bag!”

Kuniva saw the dog running full speed leaving the park center, he breaks free of the children leaping over the bench giving chase.

It only took Kuniva a few seconds to close in on the dog, he reaches for the leash but the dog breaks to the right and enters the park again through a whole in the fence.

“Small and fast great combo but announce to the pursuer.” A black mist forms at the center of his hand changing into a solid, a black rope extends from his hand latching onto the dog's leash.

With the leash in his control the dog came to full stop.

“You’ve been a bad pup, someone is getting a time out.” Returning to the park west entrance, Kuniva handed the dog and bag over to the Public Safety Senior.

The girl was in awe.

“Good job new kid!”

“Hehe, it was nothing.”

She takes the bag off the dog, searching the bag Kuniva felt a chill down his spine. Turning around glaring eyes that can pierce the soul loomed down on him.

“You never listen to me, why?”

“Ah, Jaz I’m a volunteer today…”

“Yeah, with the wrong credential,” Jasmine replies with a snarky tone pointing at the badge.

Kuniva broke down what happened after the dog’s owner arrived who was also the owner of the bag.

“Ah, so that’s what happened. I’ll go talk to her and let her know about the situation.” Jasmine heads over to the girl and begins conversing. The Public Safety Senior apologized to Kuniva but he wasn’t bothered at all despite going on a wild goose chase.

“Please forgive me. I have a bad habit of doing that.”

“It’s fine, hey what did you find in the bag?”

“A laptop. Were you expecting something else?”

“Well… No, not really.”

“But anyway, I would like to say thank you for your hard work. I really appreciate it.”

After sorting things out Kuniva hands Marquis his badge. “Geez, is this how you Public Safety servants spend your days?”

Jasmine pats Kuniva on the back. “You did an outstanding job if you ask me. Oh, I know why don’t you become an official member of Public Safety? You’ll definitely make it!”

“Nah, I prefer to be unrestricted.”
